1. What We Accept
- Essay / Personal Essay / Article
• 800 – 1,500 words
• Topics: Unwritten DZ rules, folklore retellings, cultural critiques, personal stories - Poetry
• Up to 40 lines per poem; up to 3 poems per submission
• Styles: lyrical, experimental, spoken-word friendly - Visual Art / Photography / Design
• High-resolution JPEG or PNG
• Accompanied by a 100-word artist statement - Short Fiction / Flash Fiction
• 500–1,000 words
• Must engage with DZ themes (identity, heritage, modern life) - Other (interviews, multimedia proposals)
2. Formatting
- Text: Submit as a Word doc (
.docx) - Font: Times New Roman or Georgia, 12 pt, double-spaced
- File Naming:
Lastname_Title_Type.docx - Images: Inline in your doc; also attach originals separately
3. How to Submit

4. Rights & Disclosure
- DZ Coded is granted permission to publish and promote all accepted work.
- No monetary payment: At this stage, contributions are unpaid. All contributors receive:
- A byline and author bio
- Promotion across our social channels and newsletter
5. Timeline
- Response time: Within 1 to 2 weeks of submission
- Publication: Rolling, on our website and in newsletter issues
