I have Bluesky invites if anyone needs one.

It's hot, I'm cranky. But I did just finally finish reading "Wayward" by Chuck Wendig. Dear Lord, that was a big damn book! I did enjoy it immensely, but I feel like I've run a marathon.

Nothing to say. Just wanted to check in. *waves* I make so many resolutions to write here more often, but so far I haven't been successful. Sigh.

I retired in December. My previous university starts classes tomorrow. I just realized that today is the first time in my entire life (since first grade) that this is not the first day of a fall semester for me. Pardon me while I sit here and quietly freak out.

Seems like I should post something on here at least once a year. So here I am! *embarrassed little wave*

Work Week

Almost all my work meetings are scheduled for either the first and third weeks of the month or the second and fourth. So when there's a month like this one with a FIFTH week I literally have no regularly-scheduled meetings. It has been absolute and total BLISS.

Last night I couldn't go to sleep. I attempted to put myself to sleep by trying to remember all of the main characters' names on The Drew Carey Show (1995-2004) and the names of their actors. There is absolutely no explanation for this. Brains are weird.

Annual self-evaluation documents turned in. *gazes helplessly at the tangled wreckage of draft docs scattered across my desktop*

not much

I got up on time, logged in to work, and did actual work most of the day. These were pretty big accomplishments for my first day back after the holidays! Oh wait...you mean I have to do it again *tomorrow*?

I love Dolly Parton as much as the next person, but "Hard Candy Christmas" is stuck in my head and it will not. go. away.

Yes, I may have just listened to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" and Wham's "Last Christmas". Back to back. Volume all the way up. There may have been some dancing. Do not judge me.

Good things today: vacation day, Starbucks, gumbo for lunch, Christmas tree is decorated, Josh Groban.

I had an In-‘n-Out burger today. That was a good thing. #thankful

Enola Holmes on Netflix is a fun, charming, fizzy delight. It was so nice to just relax into it for a couple of hours the other night.

This weekend I got lost reading The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel. Have you read it? It's a book that's very hard (i.e.) impossible to describe. All I can say is that her writing leaves me feeling kind of woozy and dreamy. But I could not put it down.

She's the author of Station Eleven which I also loved. This one is not about a pandemic, but it has the same feeling. I am not describing this well at all! Sorry!

It's been over 18 months since I last posted here. Hey, time flies when you're having an apocalypse, right? Anyway, I don't have anything to say. We're in a pandemic, I'm still in my nightgown.

Pausing in my ridiculous consumption of Hallmark Christmas movies (I may have a problem) to wish a Happy Christmas Eve to one and all! Going to see Mary Poppins Returns tonight -- or as my friend calls it "POPPINS!". *cue jazz hands*
