When Kalie asked me to make her cake I was nervous but excited for the challenge. She showed me a picture of it and we modified it to fit what she wanted. This is my 9th wedding style cake, and I have to say it is probably my favorite cake that I have done so far. I was excited how it turned out!
So we are finally winding up and our house is almost done! Hurray! Our builder, my Uncle Vic with the AVL Group, has done a fabulous job and we are so thrilled with it. We are planning on closing around the 7th or 8th of April. It will be 11 months since we have sold our first house and moved in with my parents. It is crazy that it has been so long, but we feel very blessed how everything has worked out. Here are a few pictures that I took a few weeks ago. It looks a lot different now. We now have all of our cement poured, walls painted, flooring in, cabinets in, mantel and railings in. This week we will get our counter top in, and some electrical and plumbing stuff in.
After the wedding we all tried to relax, but it seems life does not let you do that too much. Our house was ready for us to go in and do some work that we wanted to do ourselves. My brother-in-law Darren was so kind to help us out and paint our upstairs bedrooms in our new house. He spent 2 and a half days doing it. They look great and we are so grateful to him! We were lucky to have Mendy and Darren and their family stay until the next Friday. We were able to do lots of fun things including joining Jacob on a field trip to Lil' Flippers gymnastics. The kids had a great time doing different tumbling things and running around. We also had a birthday party for Brynlee with her cousins on Thursday, since they will not be here for her birthday next week. We were wanting to go to the park and fly kites, but do to the not so nice weather, we ended up at Camillia's house eating pizza and partying there. It was a fun time and Brynlee is so excited to turn 4 this coming Saturday! It was a great week with family!
My baby sister was married on March 12th. It is crazy! We are so thrilled to have Chad in the family and to have been a part of their wedding. It was a great day for all! On March 9th Mendy and her family came over from Craig for Kalie to go through the temple the next day. It was so great to have all of my sisters, my brother, and my parents in the temple together. It is one of those things that you always look forward to and it was great to be their with them! The rest of the week we were crazy busy trying to get everything ready for the wedding and reception. Doug and I also were busy trying to get things taken care of with our house. I made Kalie's wedding cake, which took a bit of time. On Friday March 12th, we got up early and all headed for the temple. We arranged for my 2nd cousin Paige and Kalie's friend Melanie to watch all the kids at the Bountiful temple. It was a very nice ceremony. We then headed to a church in Bountiful for a luncheon. While we were in the area I took advantage and visited my good friend Debbie Ingles and her brand new little baby Carson. They had just arrived home from the hospital so it was good timing. He is such a cutie! We then headed up north and took Jacob to his kindergarten open house. He was so cute, I can't believe he is getting so big! We then checked on our house, they had just finished painting that day! It was exciting! Next we went and got ready for the reception. It was a beautiful reception! My mom did an amazing job decorating and Kalie picked great colors. It was a great night! We were excited to see lots of friends and family that we had not seen for a while! Congratulations Kalie and Chad! We love you!
February and March have been busy but fun. We had a nice Valentine's day, but kept it low key because Doug was still pretty laid up. We went out to dinner on the 13th, which was Saturday, and then had a nice family dinner on the 14th at my Aunt Colleen's house. I made the kids and Doug candy and cookie bouquets for Valentine's day and Doug surprised me by getting me a cricut cartridge that I really wanted. My sister Mendy and her kids came for Kalie's Bridal Shower that was on the 13th. Chad's family had a Bridal Shower for Kalie on Monday. So Mendy was able to make it for both of them. It was a quick trip for them and they left Tuesday.
At 8 months old, Isaac's hair was not super long, but he had a few stragglers that looked funny so I gave him is first hair cut. He was not too happy. I think it was the vibration of the clippers that upset him the most.
We got a box that had a love seat in it from Camillia and Spencer, so Brynlee and I made a little house out of it. She had fun watching a movie in it.
