2011年9月10日に幕を開けたdrowsiness第一章。
ギターのコードも機材も作法も音楽の歴史の左右方方も知らぬ
19歳のdrowsinessは、購入したばかりのMacBookで
GarageBandの録音を意図せず開始。サウンドラフスケッチを始める。
その音源に魅力を感じた初のdrowsinessのファンでもあり
小学校からの幼馴染のKeito Suzukaを巻き込み、
drowsinessを企てることにした。
その処女作となる作品がセルフタイトル「drowsiness」である。

drowsiness初楽曲である「From a certain morning to night.」「A Left Hand」から始まる不協和音その他大勢のサウンドは不吉さを醸し出しながらも進み、同じく初楽曲である「With the Footprint」「Opacity」といった今のdrowsinessの世界へ筒状に通ずる透明感や哀愁さを含んだオルタナティブの初踏は、後のIndifferenceへのアップデートをより速やかに迎合させた。
現在の即興的かつジャンルを縦横無尽な横断的に跨きつつも、感傷的な音の結晶の始祖の位置付けである。

今回、14年の時を経て、今作で音楽キャリア初のミックス・マスタリングをdrowsinessが担当し、サウンド監修をKeito Suzukaと共に行った再発音源としてリリース。ぜひ今作から始まる14年のNow & Thenをお楽しみ頂きたい。

「2025年の崖」に反し、14年前の初作「drowsiness」を
全面的なNow & Thenを籠絡解釈を施すことした。

オンサイトの渓流を途絶えなかった初動の鼓動は、
今確かに現代に最適化された「19歳相応の虚勢な我々」。
14年の長き虚勢の猶予を終え、今最初期がシームレスとなる。

The first chapter of drowsiness began on 10 September 2011.
At the age of 19, drowsiness knew nothing about guitar chords, equipment, etiquette, or the history of music.
Using a newly purchased MacBook,
he unintentionally began recording with GarageBand. He began sketching out the sound.
Keito Suzuka, who was both the first fan of drowsiness and a childhood friend from elementary school, was drawn in by the sound and decided to collaborate with drowsiness.
The resulting debut work is the self-titled ‘drowsiness.’

The dissonant sounds from the first tracks of drowsiness, ‘From a certain morning to night.’ and ‘A Left Hand,’ progress while evoking an ominous atmosphere. The alternative debut tracks ‘With the Footprint’ and ‘Opacity,’ which contain the transparency and melancholy that connect to the current world of drowsiness, more swiftly accommodated the update to Indifference.
It stands as the progenitor of sentimental sound crystallisation, spanning genres with improvisational and cross-genre flair.

After 14 years, this reissue features drowsiness handling the mixing and mastering for the first time in their music career, with sound supervision by Keito Suzuka. We hope you enjoy the 14-year journey of Now & Then that begins with this release.

In contrast to the ‘2025 Cliff,’ the debut work ‘drowsiness’ from 14 years ago
has been reinterpreted with a comprehensive Now & Then approach.

The initial pulse of the on-site stream, which never ceased,
is now optimised for the modern era as ‘us at 19, full of bravado.’
After 14 years of bravado, the earliest days now seamlessly converge.
