This Riff Will Take Over Your Everloving Mind

I keep forgetting to let y'all know that we have a YouTube channel dedicated to original footage of doom-stoner shows in the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. On Friday night, April 24th, I filmed Portland, Oregon’s SHRINE OF THE SERPENT at a basement show in Salem, Oregon (place called Wisp House). Shrine of the Serpent is an ultra heavy, down-tuned, death-doom band with blackened touches formed from the remnants of Aldebaran, Tenspeed Warlock, and Roanoke.

At the beginning of 2015, they released their debut cassette, three songs which they also performed live on the night of April 24th, 2015. I filmed from the floor, as that was my best vantage point in the crowded residential basement. Garret’s drumming is the real highlight here–a man possessed! He and Todd have played together for many years, and it shows. With the band’s consent, I present to you “9 Gates of Shadow” from their eponymous EP.
