| Community Description: | Discussing and exploring more intentional ways of using technology |
A community for people who want to re-evaluate, to varying extents, the space technology takes up in their life. This might mean spending less time binge-watching streaming shows, decluttering their smartphone from time-sucking apps or doing more things the analog way. The reasons for doing this are as varied as the rules people set for themselves: to feel more present in the moment, to curb bad coping mechanisms, to stop creating value for predatory companies with shady privacy practices.

In the words of the man who popularized the term:
Digital minimalism is a philosophy that helps you question what digital communication tools (and behaviors surrounding these tools) add the most value to your life. It is motivated by the belief that intentionally and aggressively clearing away low-value digital noise, and optimizing your use of the tools that really matter, can significantly improve your life.

General guidelines
This community was born from a specific frustration with similar spaces on other platforms. In particular:
- A moralizing "us vs them," black-and-white mentality that painted digital minimalists as somehow enlightened and the rest of the world as slaves to endless tiktok scrolling. Aim to be as judgement free as possible and recognize other people's needs and lifestyle choices might be different from yours.
- Frequent sharing of fear-mongering and pseudo-scientific content as long as it aligned with an anti-tech perspective. Learn not to fall victim to your own biases. Do not share conspiracy theories.
- Many users coming from the retvrn/neo-fascist crowd or with similar sympathies in minimalist spaces in general. This is an explicitly anti-racist, anti-sexist, LGBT-friendly community.
