Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – Spiritual Awareness – Season Finale… Above and Beyond and Angels by D.G. Kaye | Smorgasbord Blog Magazine

I’m resharing my last post for 2023 of my Spiritual Awareness column at Sally Cronin’s Smorgasbord Blog Magazine. At the end of this post I’m sharing an important message to the world from the Archangel Michael.

Explore the spiritual side of our natures and the universe as D.G. Kaye shares her experiences and research into this element of our lives.

You can find part Twenty-Five of the series: Are you familiar with #Dreamcatchers? Do you know their purpose?

spiritual awareness

Welcome back to my Spiritual Awareness series. I wasn’t quite sure how I would end off the year here, but it hit me when I came across two powerful videos from a YouTube channel I subscribe to called Above and Beyond. As you all obviously know by now if you’ve been following this series, I’m very connected with my angels.

When I was diagnosed with a tumor on my heart valve, now some fifteen years ago, is when through my terror of digesting such news, I got more in touch with my angels. I always believed in angels, but didn’t know exactly how they became, and the individual parts they play in their hierarchy. But my fear inspired me to pray to the angels.

I began gorging on spiritual books – angel books, and from those books, I was led to more inspirational books from the likes of Louise Hayes’ inspirational healing books, Ester and Jerry Hicks, one of my favorite books by them – Ask and it is GivenDoreen Virtue, and many more.

I immersed myself in talking to my angels, especially in my darkest moments where I would rescue myself from paralyzing fear and pull my thoughts back to the light. That’s how I got through. And I began to realize the many signs along the way that were messages letting me know I was going to be fine.

My open-heart surgery was to happen at our St. Michael’s hospital, which has some top cardio-thoracic surgeons in the land. And when I walked in there for the first time to have the first of what would become a whirlwind of tests and scans I’d have done there in preparation for the upcoming surgery, what bestowed my eyes was a huge statue of Archangel Michael. I knew in that moment I would be in good hands. So, with the above all said, my spiritual self who understands a little bit about the higher realms, had learned where to send my fears.

We are currently in the process of a massive worldwide change with the taking down of the patriarchy, transiting through and into the age of Aquarius. It’s like a purge of evil, lies, fake news, hate, and all its ilk in battle with the truth globally, and the good are fighting to bring back truth where it belongs.

In this wake of chaos – losses, hurts, and wars – all of it, like an unleashing of all the evils of the world are now coming to a head. Remember, to build back strong, we must start at the bottom to begin again with a stronger foundation – kind of like how when God got angry at the world the first time and flooded the earth. And to start over, Noah built an ark and took two of each animal species to rebuild and re-procreate.

The world right now feels as though it’s spinning out of control on so many different fronts, it also feels as though we’re nearing that start over point again with all the greed and hatred in the world right now. We are all living in turbulent times in one way or another. It almost feels as though the 2020s brought everything good and evil to the forefront, giving us a chance to make right our wrongs. Protests have become the only way to communicate our wounds to our governments.

All the shit in the world is rising to the top because it’s being displayed in so many facets. With the world gone awry with everything from climate change, crime, wars, and corrupt politicians rising to unprecedented levels, no doubts there is so much angst and anger in the world being highlighted on the world platform. Darkness is plaguing us on many different levels. Love is the only answer to dispel the hatred, just as the light is stronger than darkness. We cannot turn off the dark, but we can collectively keep sharing a light, being a light among the darkness. Surely if a world can push up the garbage and negativity to shine upon us, we have the power to overcome it with love and compassion by being a light on the world stage instead of living in the darkness.

This is why I wanted to share the video below because I think the message from Archangel Michael is relevant for the current state of the world. And it would be wonderful if everyone in the world would take a time-out for five minutes and listen to his message.

We are all ascending whether we realize or not, from the 3rd dimension to the 5th. Love is the answer. Love is the only answer. No more cover-ups and lies. Karma is moving at a much quicker speed at this time of the world. It is time we all search within, send out love into the world – not hatred, and keep our beating hearts and lights shining to help lead those who are lost or have forgotten the righteous path to humanity. . . Please visit Sally’s blog for the conclusion and short video messages.

I Would Rather See My Books Get Pirated Than This (Or: Why Goodreads and Amazon Are Becoming Dumpster Fires) | Jane Friedman – #Piracy of Books and Authors

What would you do if you found A.I. created a book and slapped your name on it? Attention authors!

I was alerted to this post by Jane Friedman from a newsletter I follow from the Kindlepreneur. I’ve shared many of Dave Chesson’s helpful publishing tools and tips in my monthly curated Writer’s Tips. In fact, I included his Reader Scout tool, which he offers free to us, and besides all the benefits of this tool, Dave says it would also come in handy to track our books for wonky issues, such as piracy – both, the people kind, and the A.I. kind, as well as all the other data it helps keep track of for our books.

Unfortunately, Jane Friedman had the terrible experience of having her writing reworked with A.I. with her name listed as the author, and shares about her nightmare in the post below. She went through hair-raising hoops trying to deal with Amazon to take the books off her author page with her name listed as author, but they were not her books!!!

While I was surfing around on the topic, I came across this must watch video if you are an author. Dale Roberts teaches us what to look for and how to sniff out questionable things about our books for potential Amazon pirates and scammers.

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – Spiritual Awareness – Soul Contracts – Choosing our Family Before Birth by D.G. Kaye

Today I’m sharing my recent edition from my Spiritual Awareness series column at Sally Cronin’s Smorgasbord Blog Magazine. In this post I’m discussing soul contracts we make before birth.

Today Debby explores our past lives, something that has fascinated both philosophers for thousands of years and also more recently scientists. I am sure as always the post will encourage you to share your experiences and raise questions. Debby suggested I share my thoughts as well.

“I do believe in rebirth, and how can you not when you see a four year old play Chopin or a six year old sing an aria that would challenge a seasoned professional. I also believe in cellular memory. Not just the body carrying forward traits from many generations physically like the colour of hair or facial features and certain hereditary diseases but other cells such as our brain cells and perhaps the knowledge they contain.” ~ Sally Cronin

Soul Contracts – Choosing our Family Before Birth

Welcome back to my Spiritual Awareness series here at the Smorgasbord. In this edition I’m going to be talking about why it is said that we choose our families before we’re born. Some might wonder if that is the case, why would anyone choose a tortured or difficult life? But it’s all about the life lessons.

Now, granted, if you don’t believe our souls don’t die when our bodies do, and if you don’t believe we’ve had past lives, then I’m not here to convince anyone, rather just discuss what I know about the subject. Many of these discussions about choosing a family before we’re born come from spiritualists, religious experts, and Yogis, and of course, cannot be proven scientifically because there are just some things from other realms we will never physically have proof of in this life.

x

x

Before we incarnate into a new body, we make a collective decision, our souls commune with other souls to collaborate in negotiation as to what life lessons we should need to learn with our particular choice of purpose we agree to fill. As well, some are sent to repeat lessons for past unfulfilled karma. This is named our ‘soul contract’. The purpose of growing through this contract is to graduate to a higher consciousness of understanding.

It is said that every soul is assigned a guardian angel who works with seven teachers before they incarnate into human form. After our new birth we’ll find ourselves in a family where we will, as well as the parents we choose, learn what to expect from life or pass on our accrued knowledge from various past lives to teach them in a current life, and for us to learn life lessons we perhaps missed in a previous life from them. Our souls must follow the laws of the universe. If souls don’t abide by making a positive contribution in their lives, they will be deemed to repeat life lessons in another life.

What takes place is the family we choose to be born into. Time, date, and place of birth are all relevant to the contract. People will come into our lives we are meant to learn something from as part of a healing from a past life or even in our current one. We all are given Free Will, which permits us to choose a path to go down or avoid – yet, despite the route we choose to get there, our destiny will never change.

Our ultimate destiny is to experience Unconditional Love through each life throughout the universe to enhance our energies. Our chosen soul contract is the ‘deal’ we make with ourselves to evolve into a higher awareness. And we are told we are never alone without our spirit guides and angels guiding us.

x

Often throughout our lives we receive ‘signs’ or messages to remind us to keep on the right path. We are sent people at the precise time in life we need to meet them to introduce us to something we need to learn. These people may come and go, stay, or revisit, as the universe extends us a helping hand.

These soul contracts are made in conjunction with the people we will meet in our lives on earth. As I like to say, we meet people for Reasons and Seasons. We may make contact for a short time with someone we meet on the street, store, or anywhere who has something to enlighten us with or inform. This is all pre-destined, all the players we’ll meet in our life on earth are here to teach us lessons.

We may encounter a hurtful situation and learn forgiveness from it. We may be abandoned by someone and through their love, teach us to stand up for ourselves, or allow ourselves to succumb to the pain. We may become caregivers giving love, or we may have to encounter stubborn or unstable family members. Again, lessons. Some lessons we’ll have already mastered in another life which we can also pass onto others in a current life.

We are made of many past lives we’ve lived in. In each of those lives we’ve learned and, also, failed to learn something, which must become a repeated lesson to learn in the next life. We come with no recollection of our past life, other than the things ‘we instinctively know’ from a past life. It’s like we begin each new life with a clean slate, yet, bring with us some knowledge from our past life. The rest is forgotten when we start anew. Could you imagine if we harbored all the baggage we acquired from each life and had to tote it along with us in each consequent life?

x

No, just the essential lessons. It is said that our entire lives and past lives are stored in the Akashic Archives, kind of like a universal archived library of recordings of memories throughout our lives. Lessons not taken in as supposed to in one life will follow in the next life, like karma, those lessons must be learned . . . Please read the conclusion at Sally’s Smorgasbord

Welcome back to my spiritual awareness series. As I recently had a session with a Medium who channels spirit and angels, I thought I’d write about the difference between soul mates and life partners.

Soul Mates and Life Partners – What’s the Difference?

I thought I had two soul mates. One is my BFF, Zan, in the UK, and I thought the other is/was my husband. But I was informed differently after a session with the Medium who channeled my husband. She clarified to me the difference between a soul mate and a life partner. They are similar, both having soul connection, except soul mates are also on the same wavelength, whereas life partners don’t necessarily have to have that mind connection, it’s more about the heart connection.

x

What is a Soul mate?

A soul mate brings us lessons to learn and enters our lives to enrich us and guide us into opening up a new chapter in our lives. Some soul mates may disappear from our lives once the lessons have been delivered, and some may show up again at other times in our lives. Other soul mates will remain in our lives – if we are lucky enough to find one. Soul mates recognize each other instantly by experiencing a feeling of familiarity upon first meeting, the energies attract, yet, this doesn’t necessarily mean our soul mate is a love attraction.

We recognize a soul mate when we feel we can bear our souls openly without judgements and be completely free with that person about who we are inside and out. This is a mutual understanding between both souls. Again, a soul mate can definitely be our spouse, but this isn’t always the norm. There are romantic and platonic soul mates. Generally speaking, a soul mate is someone we mesh beautifully with in thinking, values, likes, and they come into our lives to teach us something. But for many, a soul mate is much more. For instance, we often can feel or ‘know’ what they’re thinking, and sometimes even what they are up to without speaking. We will often find the ability to finish each other’s sentences. Soul mates help us, and often our hearts, evolve and help to improve and enrich our lives by helping to transform us and elevate our lives.

A soul connection with someone feels as though we connected on a same soul level. A soul mate is someone we feel a deep, natural affinity with, someone our soul recognizes and resonates with spiritually. Usually, there is a common bond which has brought the two souls together. This can be in friendships or relationships of the heart. When we find this person, we just know. It’s a special bond that makes us feel as though we’ve known that person in another life. Sometimes soul mates in our life come into our lives because we’ve made a pre-destined pact in a past life to be together in this life, in various capacities.

What are the Elements of a Soul Mate?

Often this person will give us the feeling we’ve met before in another life, and often that is the case. That feeling of deja vu we experience with them is often just that, a feeling you’ve been together before doing something just like in the moment you experience the feeling. Many soul mates together in another life choose to come back to same soul mates, so that is where the ‘familiarity’ can come from. Soul mates often have a mental connection similar to that of twins.

With my best friend Zan, we’ve been through thick and thin and in between for just over forty years. We are completely on the same wavelength of most everything in our lives and have led parallel lives with situations and events similar in both our lives, including our dysfunctional childhoods and mothers. We can finish each other’s sentences and communicate even without words. We’ve also phoned each other so many times at the same moment.

I met Zan when I first moved away from home. I was green! I knew nothing about the world or relationships. I began living when I moved away from home and Zan became my best friend, but more than that – she was a teacher, a mother, a mentor, and sister to me. Twenty-five years ago, she moved to the UK after she met her now husband who came here on a business trip and happened to visit a popular after work drinking hole that Zan happened to be at with a friend. And only months after, packed up her life and went to the UK. She had finally found her life partner. But no distance could keep us apart because we are soul mates. She comes to visit every year, and phone and video chats (in recent years) have enabled us to continue our friendship as though no miles are between us. A soul mate shows up in our life when we are in need of learning new life lessons, and my BFF showed up at the most needed time in my life, even if I was unaware at the time after leaving home and beginning my solo life.

x

x

Life Partners

A life partner is someone we form a love and life relationship with. Our life partner is different than the average marriage or living together. It’s a unique relationship with someone we spend much of our time with and we form a special bond with. A life partner is the one meant for us to fulfill our lives with and who is always dependable, nurturing, caring, loving, trustworthy, and always listens to what we have to say, without judgement. . .Please read the conclusion at Sally’s Smorgasbord

The People We Meet in our Lives – Life Lessons – Reasons and Seasons

Welcome back to my Spiritual Awareness series 2023. I’m recently back from beautiful Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. And I’m kicking off the spring talking about why some people we meet in our lives stay for a short time, while others may stay a lifetime – reasons and seasons.

Do you ever stop and take inventory on life and the relationships we have and have had with others? We remember a person who was significant at one point in our life, and magically became insignificant or disappeared, without a breakup or bad blood, they just disappeared from our circle? Something may remind us about someone who once played a part in our life, even for a short time, and have us wondering whatever happened to that person? Sometimes we sporadically think of that person and remember when they were in our lives, having us analyze the relationship as we go into hindsight and see why they were there, their significance in our life at the time. I like to refer to these short-term relationships as seasonal relationships for reasons. Season, representing the amount of time their purpose was put into our lives, and the blessings they leave behind because often, they came into our lives to teach us lessons or lead us into new directions.

.

.

The people who come into our lives for brief stints appear for reasons. Not everybody we meet in life is meant to be a permanent part of our lives, and the universe tends to send us people when we need to learn something.

The universe has a way of knowing what we need in our lives at different times. There’s a popular phrase – What we focus on, we attract.

Have you ever woken up and something annoying happens, and it sticks with us and ruins our whole day? For example: you get out of bed and stub your toe, you’re making coffee and you drop and break a cup, then you curse and say to yourself, “I can see what this day is going to be all about.” Then your day continues to be aggravating? It’s like saying, “Oh, what else can go wrong?” Don’t ask! It’s like you’re daring the universe to show you other unpleasant things that can happen, because you invited it in.

The universe is all knowing. It’s like it has ears and eyes. So better to think positive and say something more on the lines of, “Well, that sucked, and glad it’s out of the way, now I can get on with my day and make it a better one.” Focusing our attention on something we wish for, can eventually have us meet people who may be steppingstones to people who may further introduce us to avenues or even people that we are focusing our attentions on, or simply to guide us to where we need to move next.

Yes, that is the power of positive thinking and intentions. Focusing our intentions on what we want, not what we don’t want. This is all part of the Law of Attraction, and it’s a thing. And the same thing happens to us when we meet people in our lives, they either become friends, lovers, acquaintances, or merely someone in passing, because we have something to learn from them in a multitude of ways. Ultimately, it’s for a life lesson, be it simple or big. That person may just be passing through our lives, but leaves something behind for us. A lesson. There’s always a reason. Therefore, that person may not have fit into our life for long-term, but they served a purpose in our life by entering it. It could be for one of a million different things, anything from something we learn from them, to someone else we meet through them, or for something we may have to teach – them.

.

.

We don’t meet people by accident, rather we encounter those who are meant to cross our paths. We may not realize it initially, but some people we befriend are only meant to come into our lives for a specific amount of time before they fade out of our lives or are evicted from our lives. Some relationships weren’t meant to exist for a lifetime, but merely for a designated amount of time to teach us something. Everything in life is pre-destined so the time limits spent with these messengers who come into our lives depends on the needs we’ve met or require of them.

Even the people we’ve met who we don’t desire to have in our lives have something to teach us. Please continue reading at Sally’s blog.

Welcome to the 2023 series of meet the authors. This series offers me the opportunity to not just share my personal recommendation for the author, but to also check for new books I might have missed, changes to biographies and profile photos and check links.

I also I hope will introduce you to previously unknown authors to you and their books. As the curator of a towering TBR like most of you, I hope it will also encourage you to move books waiting in line up the queue.

I appreciate that if you are a member of the writing community and a regular visitor to this blog and her own, Debby Gies, D.G. Kaye requires little introduction. Apart from being a dear friend and contributor to the blog, Debby also rights memoirs that strike at the very heart of the human condition from childhood to devastating loss. I have enjoyed all her books and can highly recommend.

Meet D.G. Kaye (Debby Gies)

D.G. Kaye is a Canadian author living in Toronto, Canada. She writes nonfiction and memoirs about her life experiences, matters of the heart, and self-help about women’s issues. Her positive outlook keeps D.G. on track, allowing her to take on life’s challenges with a dose of humor in her quest to overcome adversity.

D.G. began writing when pen and paper became the tools to express her pent-up emotions during her turbulent childhood. She began journaling about her life at a young age and continued writing about the imprints and lessons she learned through people and events she encountered. D.G. writes books to share her stories and inspiration. She advocates for kindness and for women’s empowerment. Her favorite saying is “For every kindness received, there should be kindness in return. Wouldn’t that just make the world right?”

When she’s not writing, D.G. loves to read (self-help books and stories of triumph), cook (concocting new recipes, never to come out the same way twice), shop (only if it’s a great sale), play poker (when she gets the chance), and, most of all, travel.

My review for Fifteen First Times

The author has a natural conversational style of writing that draws you in as if she is talking to you personally. Her memories prompt the reader’s own experiences at similar ages, and raises a smile or two at the similarities between girls of a certain age, however many thousands of miles they live apart.

This is particularly true in this collection of stories as Kaye shares episodes from her childhood such as playing in her mother’s stiletto shoes which would fuel a lifetime’s love of footwear, a first kiss, and taking that first puff of a parent’s discarded cigarette.

With the smiles comes the tears, as we identify the moments of loneliness and isolation as a girl becomes a woman without the support needed from a mother, a dysfunctional family life, and the loss of a much loved friend who shared the formative years between teens and late twenties.

At the end of the collection is a wonderful tribute to her late husband, who made her laugh every day and was the first and last love of her life.

D.G. Kaye writes with poignancy but also great humour, which makes these first times all the more delightful and memorable. The experiences are not just relevant to girls growing up, as many are relateable to boys and young men coping with the cultural and social expectations of the day, and finding their way in life and relationships. Take a walk down the memory lane of your own life in very good company. Highly recommended.

Smorgasbord Blog Magazine – Posts from Your Archives – 2022 – Christmas and New Year Special – Greatest Holiday Commercial Ads to Touch Your Heart by D.G. Kaye | Smorgasbord Blog Magazine

Sally Cronin has started her Christmas season at her Smorgasbord Blog Magazine where she chooses a holiday post from bloggers to share. She chose the post below that I shared last year. Some heart-warming videos to touch your hearts.

Greatest Holiday Commercial Ads to Touch Your Heart by D.G. Kaye

Since this series began in January 2018 there have been over 1200 Posts from Your Archives where bloggers have taken the opportunity to share posts to a new audience…

The topics have ranged from travel, childhood, recipes, history, family and the most recent series was #PotLuck where I shared a random selection of different topics.

This series is along the same lines and is a celebration of Christmas and New Year.

I do appreciate that this is not a religious festival for everyone but it is a time of year when families and friends come together and our thoughts turn to our hopes and wishes for the coming year. At the end of the post you can find out how to participate in this festive series.

Every year the retail industry makes an effort to steal not just our hearts but also to bring some entertainment to their sales messages. D.G. Kaye, Debby Gies has found two heartwarming ones to share with us.

Greatest Holiday Commercial Ads to Touch Your Heart

This Christmas will be difficult for so many this year, and mine is no exception. I’m not going to write any fancy or bougie words here about how cozy and mushy this time of year is for me and for so many others, between loss, hurt and this damned Corona virus, but I do want to share these beautiful commercial ads I came across. These ads reach far beyond whatever they are selling; they all encompass the human spirit of love, kindness and empathy. If you need a reason to smile (even though a tissue needed will be a guarantee), please enjoy. Hallmark has some strong competition!

Are you familiar with Astral Projection?

Astral Planing
Image by Enrique Meseguer from Pixabay

Welcome back to my Spiritual Awareness series here at Sally’s Smorgasbord. Today I’m speaking about the act of Astral Projection. So, what is Astral Projection?

The astral plane is the realm of dreams and spirits. When we astral plane, we are taken to a level beyond the physical where we live here on earth. Astral Projection is the vehicle method we use to visit an intermediate world of light between heaven and earth. Those who have astral traveled say when in the astral, they can feel they are in the present, along with all their senses. People often experience this during illness or if they’re involved in a near death experience, if not practiced intentionally.

Astral planing is a spiritual journey of the out of body experience, known as OBE. It is like floating out of our bodies and watching our body below, not unlike what many tell us they experience in near death situations, or while in an operating room as their soul spirit watches from above. The nature of astral traveling is we can explore another plane that does exist. It is said that approximately 10% of the population has had an OBE (out of body experience). So how would we know if we’ve astral planed?

Astral planing is basically, lucid dreaming. It is the separation of our spirit body from the physical body allowing us to experience the astral realm. And remember, our body is still connected by a silver cord, enabling us to return anytime. In actuality, it is the brain’s body schema (its perception) of our physical form being altered. Nothing is “leaving” our body, we can literally only feel our conscious self, leaving our body when we start to fall asleep, that is why we sometimes feel like we’re falling while dreaming as we are startled and our body shakes us awake. the first step to starting an astral projection.

The goal is to transcend our physical being, mentally. Our soul doesn’t disconnect completely from our body, it’s just something people say as a way to describe astral projection.

It’s important to do our research before attempting astral projection, making sure we have a clear and pure intention because astral projection is the law of attraction for the soul, meaning that whatever we reflect will come back to us during our soul journey.
While we sleep, our subconscious is in control. The difference between unconscious astral travel when asleep and dreaming, and practiced astral projection, is by using conscious astral projection, we’re able to control where our soul travels, also referred to as conscious sleeping.

x

How to Astral Travel

Lie down or sit in a chair in a quiet place and focus solely on your deep breathing. Do this until your mind draws blank and the only sound you hear is the sound of your deep breathing, and you’re just about to fall asleep, but still awake. Continue on with deep breaths for approximately 20 minutes when you will begin to feel a tingling or numbness within your body, and you eventually lose consciousness of your physical body. Don’t panic, stay focused, and do not move or allow in any thinking, just stay focused on the breath, this is part of the process. Once we’ve achieved this vibrational stage, we can begin to use our willpower in one of several ways.

Vibrational Stage

Our vibrations have now been shifted to an alternate frequency, which enable us to project. We must next visualize ourselves moving – without moving, as we need to begin lifting ourselves out of our physical bodies. . . please continue reading at Sally’s Smorgasbord . . .
