Info
Zellerfeld is the only technology company that produces a whole 3D-printed shoe with the push of a button. Through an online platform, every designer in the world will have a chance to sell their shoe designs to anyone who wants to express themselves through customized and personalized 3D-printed shoes. As a team of energetic engineers that develop their printing technologies in-house, we constantly question the status quo to bring overdue change to an undemocratic and unethical footwear industry. With our disruptive approach of 3D printing every shoe out of fully recyclable materials, we regularly excite our currently small group of customers, which range from NBA and Hollywood stars to Elon Musk’s youngest child. Everything we do happens with the long term in mind. Our actions are guided by decisions that will have a lasting impact. Always with awareness for people and planets.

Zellerfeld and Volumental are partnering to take the next step in custom 3D-printed footwear, connecting precision foot scanning more deeply into Zellerfeld’s platform for personalized, on-demand footwear creation. For us, custom fit has always been central to the promise of printed footwear. When a shoe is created digitally and printed on demand, it can move beyond standard sizing and become a product built around the individual customer, their foot geometry, their fit profile and the way the shoe needs to perform. Volumental brings one of the world’s leading foot-scanning platforms, deployed across thousands of stores in 60+ countries and built on more than 66 million foot scans globally. By connecting that precision scan data into Zellerfeld’s custom manufacturing pipeline, we can print each shoe to the specific contours of an individual customer’s foot. This is where fit becomes the foundation for a much bigger personalization system. A scan can define more than size. It can inform shape, comfort, support, flexibility, cushioning and performance, giving brands and creators a new way to build footwear around the people wearing it. Together with Volumental, we are closing the gap between the foot and the shoe built for it, bringing custom fit, personalization and printed footwear to scale. Printed shoes on every foot.

The physical is becoming digital. Starting with footwear. Our CEO Cornelius Schmitt joined Jon Fortt on CNBC's Fortt Knox, live from our new 3D print farm in Austin, to talk about what we're building at Zellerfeld: a world where anyone can create, produce, and sell physical products at global scale. From a small village in Germany to partnerships with Nike, Louis Vuitton, and Havaianas, Cornelius shares the story behind the mission and what comes next. Watch the full interview. Link in comments.
Cornelius Schmitt, CEO of Zellerfeld Shoe Company Inc., says every major footwear brand is working on launching on the company's 3D-printed shoe platform, which now hosts over 1,000 creators. Schmitt aims to reach 4,000 printers and 2,000 pairs per day by year-end — a 10x scale-up from today — targeting a run rate of 1 million pairs per year. The Austin-based startup has raised $70M and counts Nike, HUGO BOSS, and Havaianas Europe - an Alpargatas Brand among its brand partners. Full Fortt Knox conversation linked in the comments:

Jaylen Brown, NBA Champion, Finals MVP and All-Star guard for the Boston Celtics, is advancing a new era of athlete-led performance design, built on the belief that footwear should adapt to the player and evolve at the speed of the game. Through 741, his independent performance brand, Brown is reclaiming ownership of the process, placing design, innovation and economics back into the hands of the athlete. During National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star Weekend, the next iteration of the 741 performance silhouette was unveiled. Printed with Zellerfeld, the shoe moved from V1 to V3 in weeks, developed through rapid experimentation, refining structure, traction and responsiveness in real time. At the intersection of technology, performance and culture, Jaylen and 741 signal a new model for how performance footwear is designed, produced and worn on the court.

Excited to welcome two exceptional leaders to the Zellerfeld family: CFO Matthew DeNezza and COO Sean McCartney. We’ve been moving fast. Our new production facility is live in Austin. GEN3 is out in the world. The platform is growing, and the work ahead is getting bigger. Matt and Sean bring the experience we need to execute on what we’re building. Sean joins from StockX, where he led global supply chain and helped turn it into a worldwide footwear platform. Matt comes from Crusoe, where he was CFO of a multi-billion-dollar AI infrastructure and data center business. Both know what it takes to scale Zellerfeld into a world class organization. Together, they strengthen our ability to execute with discipline as we make the physical digital, starting with footwear, bring advanced manufacturing back to the U.S., and build a durable, global 3D platform. Let’s go! 🚀

We Are Bringing Production Back! Zellerfeld was born with the belief that shoes can be made with a push of a button. And now, this is happening: We are scaling from 200 printers in Hamburg to thousands of printers in both Texas, USA and Hamburg, Germany. While tariffs push prices up for traditionally made shoes, we’re proving there’s a better way: Expanding capacity, lowering costs, while moving closer to our goal of 24-hour delivery. Want to be part of the journey and help get 3D-printed shoes on every foot? Explore open roles in our Texas and Hamburg facilities!

An icon reborn. The “1” that started it all, reimagined for the future. From the first Air Max in 1987 to the Air Max 1000 today, Nike has continually redefined what is possible for design and innovation. Each generation of Air has pushed performance, culture and creativity into new territory. The Air Max 1000 marks another milestone. For the first time, Nike Air meets 3D-printing. Designed by Nike and brought to life on our advanced printing platform, it is a sculptural, computationally designed evolution of the Air Max 1, a modern expression of a timeless icon. The Air Max 1000 marks the start of a new era in footwear. Computational design and 3D-printing open the door to new aesthetics, new fit experiences and new levels of personalization, giving new ways to imagine, design and deliver footwear. Yesterday’s Air Max 1000 launch sold out on SNKRS and zellerfeld.com, a powerful start to what comes next. Together with Nike, we are matching Nike-only imagination and design with our creation capabilities to push the field of physical possibilities, expand creative boundaries and create products that provide athletes with the ultimate opportunity for self-expression. Stay tuned for the journey ahead. #Nike #AirMax1000 #Zellerfeld #3DPrinting #Innovation #FutureOfFootwear #Partnership

A Launch Event From Outta Space 👽 Last Friday, we teamed up with the one and only German Rapper Cro to celebrate the launch of the Mars Mellow Slide, his latest drop on zellerfeld .com, with an unforgettable event at the solebox flagship store. Just ahead of Cro's performance at Chronicles Open Air 2025, we brought an exclusive solebox co-branded edition of 50 pairs to the store, turning the launch into an evening of music, drinks, and networking with friends, fans, and future collaborators. The original Mars Mellow was a hit when we launched it last year, and now, just in time for summer, the slide version is here to keep the momentum going. Big thanks to everyone who made this event possible or joined the crowd! 🪩 Photo credits: Max Hartman
