An honest look at the reality behind Eudamed. Thanks to all teams and customers who carried this phase together with patience, clarity, and high standards.
Die Eudamed hat unsere Timelines ziemlich zerlegt, und das hat auf allen Seiten wehgetan. Wir bei p36 haben den Anspruch, mit unseren UDI-Lösungen regulatorische Komplexität beherrschbar zu machen. Planbar und in hoher Qualität. So, dass Medtech-Unternehmen sich nicht durch alle Details jeder UDI-Vorschrift weltweit kämpfen müssen. Und dann kam Eudamed. Lang erwartet, oft verzögert. Nicht nur als eine Vorschrift und weitere Datenbank. Sondern mit MDR, IVDR, Legacy Devices, SPP - plus strukturelle Komplexität (Basic UDI, Master UDI), ständigen Änderungen, neuen Anforderungen auf der letzten Meile und einer technisch komplexen Realität, die auf dem Papier oft deutlich einfacher aussieht als im Alltag. Ich erinnere mich noch gut an ein internes Meeting, in dem uns klar wurde, wie groß die Verzögerung wirklich werden würde, bis wir liefern können. Das war einer dieser Momente, in denen man spürt: Das wird jetzt nicht nur für uns unangenehm, sondern auch für unsere Kunden. Besonders hart war die letzte Meile: Submissions werden technisch an die Eudamed versendet, und es kommt einfach keine Antwort zurück. Statt sauberer technischer Rückmeldung sinngemäß: einfach nochmal schicken. Nur funktioniert genau das in regulierten Systemen eben nicht „einfach mal so“. Unser Produktteam hat in dieser Phase enorm gekämpft, um den vollständigen Eudamed Scope sauber abzubilden. Gleichzeitig waren unsere Consultants eng an der Seite unserer Kunden, die warten mussten, Druck hatten und sich zu Recht gefragt haben, wann es endlich weitergeht. Und ja, dafür sind an anderer Stelle geplante Features liegengeblieben. Aber wenn Compliance-Pflichten erfüllt werden müssen, ist die Priorität für uns ziemlich klar. Umso mehr bedeutet es uns, dass wir seit der Deadline der Eudamed Ende Mai bereits über 45.000 Medical Devices für unsere Kunden erfolgreich registriert haben. Besonders hängen geblieben ist mir ein Kunde mit großem Produktportfolio, der durch die ganze Phase wirklich Geduld brauchte - und uns später zurückgespiegelt hat, dass sie mit unserer Lösung am Ende den Durchbruch geschafft haben. Genau darauf kommt es für mich an. Wir können uns nicht einfach darauf zurückziehen, Software-Anbieter zu sein. Wir sehen uns als Partner, der regulatorische Herausforderungen gemeinsam mit seinen Kunden löst - auch dann, wenn Timelines kippen und der Weg deutlich mühsamer wird als geplant. Genau dafür ist Partnerschaft da.
