🇱🇰 Sri Lanka has launched a new initiative to update its Carbon Net Zero Roadmap and Strategic Plan. The Ministry of Environment recently brought together government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations and other stakeholders to kick-start the effort, taking stock of existing climate plans and identifying priorities for the next phase of Sri Lanka’s transition to net zero. Supported by the NDC Partnership through the Partnership Action Fund (PAF) and implemented by the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, the initiative will strengthen alignment between Sri Lanka’s long-term vision and NDC priorities through coordinated stakeholder engagement. Building on the existing Carbon Net Zero Roadmap and Strategic Plan, NDC 3.0 and the NDC Implementation Plan, the process marks an important step in connecting Sri Lanka’s net zero pathway with the actions needed to advance its climate commitments. 📷 Janathakshan #SriLanka #NDCs #NDCImplementation #ClimateAction #NetZero

🇲🇼 Malawi is strengthening women’s participation in climate-related decision-making through the Women in Climate Action Network (WONECAM). Launched by the President of Malawi in 2022, WONECAM provides a platform for elevating women’s voices in national climate and environmental policymaking. To further strengthen gender-responsive climate action, Malawi developed the WONECAM Strategic Action Plan (2026–2030), helping establish a roadmap for expanding women’s leadership in climate action with support from the NDC Partnership. Building on this foundation, Climate Action Africa (CAA), through the Expert Deployment Mechanism–Climate Action Africa (EDM-CAA) Initiative, is advancing implementation of the strategy with climate leadership training, communications support and a dedicated writeshop designed to expand WONECAM’s reach and impact across districts. CAA is a Government of Canada initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by a consortium of partners. A new episode of Canadian Changemakers explores how partnerships and community-led approaches are helping deepen women’s climate leadership in Malawi. 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/gYsHddmU 🔗 Learn more about EDM-CAA: https://lnkd.in/gipAGSR6 #Malawi #ClimateAction #GenderEquality #ClimateLeadership #NDCs #WomenInClimateAction
