Today it is official: our acquisition by SAP has closed. Prior Labs continues as an independent frontier AI lab - same team, same offices, same mission, open models, backed by €1B+. What changes? The scale and the planning horizon. Scale: SAP is the perfect partner, with an enormous scale of tabular data and distribution. This will allow us to build dramatically better models and directly deploy them at scale. We’ll also substantially scale up the team; this is the time to join! Planning horizon: We can now boldly tackle long-term high-risk high-gain research moonshots. As an 18-month old startup you cannot tackle problems that require years of research; as a frontier AI lab, now we can. Last week, we hosted a curated meetup for Berlin Defense Tech Week, with founders, operators, and investors focused on the future of European security. The conversation kept returning to one theme: adaptability. Requirements change fast, and Europe needs technology that can evolve just as quickly. But research doesn’t always make it out of the lab. 🧪 🧑🔬 Today, we are introducing a new prize with Falling Walls Foundation to offer one researcher their next experiment: company-building.  𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘄? We are entering a golden age for academic spinouts and scientific innovation. Last year at Slush, we presented Europe's first university spinout report, produced with Dealroom.co and a coalition of funds from across the continent. Europe is moving towards a common standard for best practice, with initiatives like the German spin-off framework standardising IP transfer terms. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲? Structural change is key to accelerating momentum. But as a first-round investor, we know moving from lab to market is always a personal leap. Europe has the talent. Now they need a reason. Autonomous systems are reshaping the future of air combat. Together, Dassault Aviation and Harmattan AI have successfully demonstrated an in-flight collaborative engagement between a Rafale F4 and an unmanned aerial system equipped with NAMIB, a new electronic warfare payload jointly developed by both companies. This milestone is part of the strategic partnership between Dassault Aviation and Harmattan AI and contributes to defining the future of collaborative air combat. Link in the comments.
