The Davis Donut Diary

A year in travel and donuts

AHOY, SAILOR!! ATLANTA, GA

In the land of biscuits, grits, and red-eye gravy, I give you something Sublime. Sublime Doughnuts, in fact. On a crisp early morning, 1/2 of the Dynamic Donut Duo (Paige) joined me to sample the creations of Kamal Grant. Make that 3rd Class Petty Officer Kamal Grant.

Upon graduating from high school, Kamal enlisted in the Navy and served as a baker on the USS John Young. Quickly becoming famous for his cinnamon rolls he parlayed that experience into admission into the CIA. That's right, the CIA- the Culinary Institute of America. From there he continued his education at the American Baking Institute before dropping anchor (rimshot, please!) at Sublime Doughnuts in 2008. So it was that Paige and I found ourselves meeting Atlanta Fox 5's Paul Milliken and his cameraman, Blaze, at the sky blue colored donut shop to spread the gospel of The Sound of Music whilst also taking full advantage of all of Kamal's training. After a tour of the operations, we settled in for our first tastes. Popping to the front was the Fresh Strawberry n Cream. This could have been a disaster - sickeningly sweet and artificial tasting - but it ended up being light, fresh, and DELICIOUS. Nothing syrup-y, just fresh strawberries and homemade whipping cream. Kind of like a strawberry shortcake but with a donut. I almost asked for a second one but before I could I was handed one of their more adventurous edibles, the Salt and Vinegar. Sounds scary? Nah... It's a salted caramel with a drizzle of balsamic over it which cuts the sweetness just so. A really well thought out combination. Soon, we found ourselves on a couch with Paul going on air to talk about the show and about the special donut Kamal made in honor of The Sound of Music. An apple cinnamon strudel type fritter with raisins. And...It was still warm. Amazing. I was on donut #3 for the morning and still went for a fourth after finishing the first fritter. Ridiculous. Here’s the complete TV interview: http://www.fox5atlanta.com/good-day/99613112-video

Verdict: First class donuts from 3rd Class Petty Officer Grant. Great, fresh flavors, and  yet another great story behind them. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Hugs & Donuts...and Milk On Tap! Houston, TX

Between downing massive amounts of queso and chips, I somehow managed to also visit a donut shop during our week stay in Houston. Accompanied by Kerstin, 1/2 of the ever faithful Dynamic Donut Duo, we ventured to Hugs & Donuts to see what fried dough delicacies this part of the Lone Star State had to offer.

Dangerously situated next to an artisan ice cream shop (just an idea), we were welcomed by a beautiful display of donuts. Bringing me out of my stupor was the warm voice of co-owner, Amy Hill, greeting us. As we chatted, I learned that this really is the “People’s Donut Shop”. A kickstarter campaign was launched to help bring the former food truck purveyor’s donut dreams to reality. In return for a $75 contribution, they gave out the black card pictured above, granting the holder to 1 free donut a day for 20 years (Amy also gave me one, fully knowing I won’t be able to abuse it!!)!! What a fantastic idea and a terrific incentive! Needless to say, with ideas like that, their initial goal of $50,000 was quickly surpassed and Hugs & Donuts began to, slowly, come to pass.

Happy to know the store’s genesis, I wanted to get down to business and taste the offerings! Immediately, the Green Tea Coconut jumped out at me. Two of my favorite things joined together on top of another of my favorite things? Yes, please! Texture and overall flavor were great, though I would have been happy with just a bit more of green tea flavor. Next up was this beast:

Do I really need to even write about this? Isn’t the picture and its description enough? What missing flavor punch I might have missed with the green tea was compensated for and more with this! Texture and flavor profiles were spot on hitting that sweet/salty zone perfectly.

Something else caught my eye in the shop. A tap system labeled: chocolate, strawberry, whole, and iced coffee. Could it be? Really? Milk on tap? Yup. I used to go through 1/2 gallons of milk at dinner in my youth and every now and then, I still get a craving. Especially with donuts. A fun touch and something you don’t see very often.

Verdict: A great shop with a great story of public support and owners who clearly value and are valued by its community. Thank you so much for a great morning! SOLIDLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Greenbush Bakery in Madison, WI!!

Gentle readers, I am happy to report that Wisconsin produces more than just delicious cheese, the Packers, and Laverne and Shirley. I had been through Madison once before and was really happy to be going back. It’s a beautiful town (even in winter) with great late night eats (check out Tornado), a beautiful capitol building, and as I discovered, great donuts!

Once again our pastry procuring press peeps arranged for 1/2 of the Dynamic Donut Duo (Kerstin) and I to visit the local shop, Greenbush Bakery. As we entered we were drawn to the boxes on the counter waiting for us with a post it attached. The amazing gals at the shop had rewritten Do-Re-Mi:

This was all incredibly sweet and charming but my taste buds CANNOT be charmed, my loyal readers. Bring on the goods, Greenbush! As they led us into the prep area we immediately came upon the holy place in the first photo. No, really. It IS a holy place. Greenbush Bakery is certified Kosher. In 1998, owners Marv and Barb Miller went through the process of being certified so they could serve the Jewish community in the shop’s neighborhood. But don’t worry, my devout readers, my taste buds cannot be לְשַׁדֵל by religiosity. But damn, those apple fritters looked good. Finally we were led back to the front and got down to business. I started in on one of my favorites, an old fashioned. I wasn’t 2 beautiful bites into it though before they brought forth something they said I had to try whilst still warm: The Rabbi’s Delight, a glazed buttermilk cruller filled, in this instance, with strawberry. Y’all, this was no joke good. it had all that amazing cruller lightness and airiness that your teeth just sink into. And once you get through that warm and billowy goodness, you hit that strawberry filling. I’m getting a little verklempt just thinking about it. I honestly could have had 3 of these if it weren’t for the fact that I needed to get my mouth on that fritter!!!! O.M.E. (Oh. My. Elohim.) I wasn’t quite prepared for this deliciousness. Texture, sweetness, fruitiness... all juuuust right. This was one of my favorites in quite some time.

We could not have been treated any better by the lovely ladies working there and everything we tasted was great. And did I mention the fritter??? As we were getting set to leave, this caught my eye:

Well done, Greenbush Bakery, except he gave me a crappy Fantasy Football season this year. And with that, my visit was complete!

Verdict: Creative and incredibly sweet help, Kosher quality, and amazing fritters!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

That Time I Made a Donut.... Candle!

So, this is gonna be a bit of a different entry! Fresh off a weeklong break from the Austrian Alps and The Sound of Music National Tour (coming to a city near you!), I landed in Columbus, OH. I had played this city with both Les Miserables (when I was but a lad of 22) and with Spamalot some years later (yes, SOME years...). Both of these visits had predated my current obsession with donuts but i did remember the great area there called the Short North, mostly because it is where i discovered Jeni’s Ice Cream! So, it didn’t take me long to find myself there again.

As I explored High St., I came across a store called, The Candle Lab. Lured in by the interesting name and some amazing smells, I was soon greeted by the incredibly friendly staff (Whose names I am forgetting now. Please write me and tell me if you read this!!! I’m so sorry!). They gave me the basic idea behind the store: They sell candles. Ah, you want more? Well, they have over 120 fragrances, of which you can purchase pre-made. OR, and this is where it gets really fun, you can grab a clipboard and paper, sniff around the store and said 120 fragrances, write down a few, and have the TERRIFIC (and yet to be named) staff help guide you to a custom scent mixing 3 of your choices! You will then be given the essential oils whereupon you can start mixing, little by little to make sure it’s something you’re gonna wanna stick with, until your little cup is full. It was at this point in the proceedings that I began chatting up the TERRIFIC (and yet to be named) staff about my donut blog! It’s always fun to see the reaction people have to someone having a donut blog. It can range from blasé to bewildered. I, on the other hand am bewitched and bothered... but I digress (and badly, I might add). So after they brought me my melted soy wax into which I poured my essential oils (tomato leaf, yuzu, and earth), I came back an hour later to pick up the final product! As I was paying, one of the TERRIFIC (and yet to be named) staff invited me to come back and make.... wait for it.... a DONUT SCENTED CANDLE!!!! Gentle readers, you may remember the travesty that was my Duck Donut creation. I was determined to overcome the memory of that spectacular failing and create the perfect DONUT CANDLE!!

I returned to The Candle Lab the next day. With me I brought the Dynamic Donut Duo you know and love so well, Paige and Kerstin, along with nun extraordinaire and one of the sweetest gals you’ll ever meet, Julia! Whilst they were given the spiel I received from the TERRIFIC (and yet to be named) staff the previous day, I went immediately for my choices. I have been talking a lot about my new fav, the Chocolate Bacon Donut, so I knew that’s what my candle had to be. Luckily, they have a bacon scented candle (you read correctly!). Next was the choice between Dark Chocolate or Hot Cocoa. I initially thought it would be the Dark but the Hot Cocoa actually had a bit more depth and sweetness to balance the smokiness of the bacon. Next came an easy choice: baked bread. Lastly, I knew I wanted something to brighten up the scent, so the TERRIFIC (and yet to be named) staff allowed me a 4th oil to add. Orange zest was perfect for the job.

The mixing process proved to be tricky for this! The bacon smell was strong but I didn’t want to cover it up with too much of everything else and the orange zest was pretty powerful! Little by little, my creation came to life. Balance was found, smoke from the bacon, rich chocolate, that instantly recognizable smell of baked bread, and just a hint of citrus. I have to say, I was worried it would come out smelling like a dreaded Yankee Candle but I’ll be damned if it isn’t a lot more elevated than I thought it would be! Beyond that though, it was just a blast to do! My castmates each came up with gorgeous and unique scents that they will use to make our hotel rooms every week smell and feel a bit more like home rather than temporary quarters. As for me, I want my dressing room to smell like a donut. I mean, who doesn’t?! The only bad part? We can’t order replacements! We’ll have to make another trip to Columbus... and gladly!

EDIT: The “the TERRIFIC (and yet to be named) staff”, have been named!!! TJ and Denise, thank you SO much for all your help and for making it so much fun!!

That Time I Ate Way Too Many Donuts in One Sitting... at Bennett’s Fresh Roast in Ft. Myers, FL!

I gotta be honest donut lovers, Florida has been a donut wasteland of sorts. The ubiquitous Dunkin’ Donuts dot the landscape like land mines down here, serving snowbirds what they safely know from their frostier climes. I will proudly report that even in this donut drought, I never reached for this false prophet of pastry. Such is my commitment to you, dear readers, and to the craftsmanship of real donutry (i think I just made that up).

Thank the donut deities then that our intrepid press rep., Jenny Bates, put me onto Bennett’s Fresh Roast here in Ft. Myers. As I walked in, I was greeted by the owner, Bob, and a beautiful cup of freshly roasted joe quickly after. As always, I love hearing the stories of how people ended up in this business and Bob’s was a fun one. A morning radio host for over 20 years, he decided to go to work for himself! He had been roasting his own coffee for a bit before and decided to come up with a donut recipe as well. Bob creates his beautiful yeast donut creations at a small station in his cozy and off the beaten path cafe. The size of his workspace is one reason he hasn’t ventured into cake donuts but that doesn’t mean he can’t make them! In fact, it was a cake donut that won him the first round on The Food Network’s DONUT SHOWDOWN.

It wasn’t long before Bob hopped behind the counter and started loading up a basket of donuts for me... and kept loading... and a third basket even. Unconsciously, I began to get the ‘Jimmy Leg’. You know, where your leg just starts shaking without you willing it to? There before me sat 9 beautiful donuts... all for me! Where was my Dynamic Donut Duo when I needed them? I do it for you tho, fellow donut lovers. I dove in. Starting of course with the classic glazed. My teeth sank into the billowy dough. Not too sweet yet satisfyingly so. A very good start. Y’all, I ate so many donuts.... Almond glazed/Raspberry filled, Boston Creme with vanilla bean custard, Orange Crunch, Maple Bacon (a damn good one. real maple extract), Toffee Crunch. What was I thinking?! Obviously, I wasn’t! Self control is a foreign concept to me. Oh well, life is short so... Carpe Donut, right?

Bob’s donuts are all homemade from scratch including all the frostings and it’s easy to tell. Each one had a unique flavor and good balance. I’d love to see him do a chocolate bacon... I really think that’s the next big thing! Call me a donut prognosticator!

Verdict: Floridians, get thee to Bennett’s Fresh Roast for a great cuppa Joe and some fantastic donuts. They have a Ft. Myers location and a larger one on Sanibel that opened not long ago. Whilst there, grab some beans to take home! I’m enjoying a cup at the hotel as I write this! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I MADE DONUTS!!!! Duck Donuts in Cary, NC!

Y’all, this was FUN!!! We had no idea what we were getting into as I once again loaded up the Dynamic Donut Duo, Kerstin and Paige, into the car and drove to Cary, NC to visit Duck Donuts. We had already been treated by owners Kelly and Brandon the night before at the theatre with over 100 ridiculously delicious donuts!!!! Talk about generous! But that could not prepare us for the excitement that lay ahead!!!! As we entered, Kelly greeted us and gave us a little background. They opened the Cary location a little over a year ago and will soon have 2 more in the Raleigh-Durham area. Y’all, these are about as fresh as they get! Made to order donuts, you get to choose your toppings. There’s nothing quite like a frier-fresh donut!!

So, we’re standing there listening to Kelly talk, thinking of what we’re going to ask them to make for us, when all of the sudden she says, “Why don’t you guys come behind the counter and make your own donuts?” What??? I think i blacked out for a hot second. If having my name made out of donuts was lifetime goal #1, this wasn’t far behind. Here it was, my chance to create the PERFECT donut. Surely, my passion for donuts would be evident in the beauty of what I was about to create! I chose to do a strawberry glaze w/vanilla drizzle. Not real adventurous, but I knew it would look and taste beautiful. I’m sad to report that I suck at making donuts. See that rather sickly looking donut in the middle row, second from the left? That’s mine. Look, some were born to make donuts, others to just eat them. I’m ok with that.

The Dynamic Donut Duo did dramatically better as is evidenced in the videos below. I have to say my FAVORITE and maybe all time NEW favorite donut was the chocolate bacon donut. Maple glazed is great, but overdone now. The chocolate bacon is THE WAY OF THE FUTURE!!!!!

I cannot tell you how much fun this trip was and just how delicious their fresh donuts are. This is a new franchise and one that I hope really takes off!!

Verdict: De-lic-ious and FRESH donuts made to order. You might not get to make yours like we did, but that might be best (as in my case). Leave it to the pros, but GET THERE!

Delayed Dallas Donut Diary... D’OH!!!!

To my loyal readers (hi, mom!), I beg your forgiveness. You count on my regular entries to sweeten your lives and tease your tastebuds. I have failed you over the last month. BUT, I am back to give you not 1 but 2 recent experiences!

The Sound of Music National Tour left Los Angeles and landed in Dallas for 3 weeks. I had heard about Glazed Donut Works and couldn’t wait to get my hands on one. Joining me, and making my pictures look A LOT prettier, are Kerstin Anderson, who plays “Maria”, and Paige Silvester, who plays my eldest daughter, “Liesl”. We were greeted by the store manager, Nicole, and immediately my eyes went to their logo which is pretty brilliant, badass with a side of sweetness:

Nicole immediately brought out the good stuff and we tore into it. Old fashioned donuts have always been a fav of mine and this little donut touring adventure is only deepening that love! Glazed kicks it up several notches with a Chocolate Nutella Old Fashioned! Perfect outside crispness giving way to a dense inside and you just can’t go wrong with Nutella. Another favorite was the pumpkin pie filled donut. I immediately thought of my friend, Jennifer Rias, who is more fanatical about things pumpkin than anyone I’ve ever known. Jenn, you’d have done backflips. Not cloyingly sweet or overspiced, just beautiful frosted, doughy balls of pumpkin goodness! These were a consensus favorite. Every single creation they gave us to try was a hit, even the seemingly ubiquitous maple bacon donut deserves recognition here.

We could not have been treated any better by Nicole and the rest of the Glazed crew and I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better donut in the Metroplex Area. I do have one HUGE regret. Like... HUGE! Nicole invited us back at night to try their donut grilled cheese with bacon. She even said we could skip the line that invariably forms down the block. This would have been legendary in my book. I cannot give you a sufficiently good reason as to why this didn’t happen. I did drive by once but couldn’t find parking... an awful excuse and one that still keeps me up at night.

Verdict: Get your Dallas Donut on at Glazed for amazing flavors, perfect textures, and please, FOR ME, someone get the grilled cheese and report back!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

California Donuts in L.A.

Yep, that’s my name in donuts. Who needs a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Who needs your name in lights? I GOT MY NAME IN DONUTS!!! I might as well retire now. The woman behind this gorgeous creation and the owner of California Donuts is Danette Kuoch. Meeting her and hearing the story of how California Donuts came to be and what she has done with it was almost, ALMOST as good as the donuts I had there.

Danette’s parents fled Cambodia during the Vietnam War and landed in L.A., as refugees. Following the lead of a number of Cambodian refugees at the time, they got into the donut business in L.A. and opened California Donuts 34 years ago. A little history about that: The person credited with blazing the donut trail for Cambodian immigrants is Ted Ngoy, who immigrated in 1975. Two years later he opened his first shop. “Taking a loan from an Asian loaning society, Ngoy was able to buy two stores, operate them for awhile and then sell to someone in the community or a family member who wanted to buy them. That’s how they got into it.”, said Dennis Wong of the Asian Business Association. For more on this history, click HERE! Their hard work and delicious donuts helped Danette through school, but after spending a few years in the corporate world, she felt the family business calling her. She took over the business and, working 16 hour days, began to modernize things. Her parents weren’t always sold on her ideas but they couldn’t argue with the success she was having. After being convinced that social media could help drive business, she saw things really take off. Their Instagram, californiadonuts, has over 350,000 followers!!!

So, how are the donuts? OK, I’m gonna keep it real with you, going into things I was a little apprehensive. Danette’s creations are SO vivid, SO creative, SO colorful that I was afraid they might be all show but no dough. Man, I am SO happy to be proven incredibly wrong! These are incredible donuts! They were fresh, flavorful, and not overly sweet, which could have easily been the case. I landed on my favorite being the green tea old fashioned. Just. Real. Good. But check out the pics of all the other flavors, including one with a Snickers bar INSIDE!!!! Ok, that one might be sweet, but c’mon man!!!!! It’s a Snickers INSIDE A DONUT!!!

Verdict: A social media sensation that has the goods to back it up. As well as an amazing story. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Kettle Glazed Doughnuts in L.A.

Well, this one was fun... and tasty! Our fantastic press people for The Sound of Music contacted me saying that the fine folk at Kettle Glazed not only wanted us to visit them, they wanted to develop a special donut in honor of our show! Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Apple Strudel Donut! It was perfect, staying away from being what could have easily been too sweet and the texture was “on fleek” as the kids say. Right? The outside had a crispness whilst the inside was moist and delicious! I also had, at head baker Molly’s recommendation, the Boston Creme, Blueberry Lemon Old Fashioned, Blueberry Maple Bacon Old Fashioned, and Vanilla Bean Raised. Ok, the cream in the Boston Creme was stupid good. Much like Guru in Boise, housemade and full of vanilla bean deliciousness. Seriously, I coulda eaten about 5. Now, I love an old fashioned donut. The texture combination and coffee dunkability factor make it an essential donut. Kettle Glazed does a damn fine old fashioned, but not content with simple flavors, they blow your mind with something like Blueberry Maple Bacon. Seemingly odd at it’s first mention, think about it. It’s like a blueberry pancake with bacon! I mean... done.

Lest you judge me as gluttonous eating all these myself, I was joined by 2 lovely ladies from the show. Pictured below along with Owner Sammy and aforementioned Molly, Kerstin Anderson who plays “Maria” and Paige Silvester “Liesl”, allowed me to be their “Sugar Daddy” for the day. It was great to share!! OK, that’s a lie, but I’m glad they were there.

Verdict: Really great people in a really great shop turning out some AMAZING treats. Right off the 101 in Hollywood, pop in and dunk some old fashioned goodness. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Guru Donuts in Boise, Idaho

Beautiful Boise, ID! This is our first OFFICIAL stop on a tour that, for the next year, will have us visiting donut shops from across North America. Oh, it’s also the first stop for the national tour of THE SOUND OF MUSIC that I’m a part of. Not a bad combo!

Guru Donuts opened in 2012 and they’re gonna be around for awhile. A great shop with friendly service and a great ethos for donut making. That’s right, I said they have a donut making ethos. Using even regional flour, their mission is, “…to make donuts the old fashioned way, from scratch and made with love. We want you to giggle with joy as you experience donut enlightenment. Is that so much to ask? We rotate our seasonal flavors monthly and encourage you to try a variety as we taste test everything to ensure you experience the sweet nirvana you seek. We use only sprinkles dyed with vegetables and fruits, no artificial colors or preservatives, local when possible, and we love to collaborate with local nonprofits to make our Boise community a divine place to live.” I’m down with that. They also have a badass donut Yogi (a Dogi?) painted on their wall. BUT, are their donuts really good?

YUP. YUP YUP. I had the Old Fashioned (left) and The Hipsterberry (right). Neither lasted very long. I love a good sour cream old fashioned donut and man, this didn’t disappoint. Great texture and the icing was divine. A very dunkable donut. Now, let’s talk about The Hipsterberry. Native to Williamsburg, it’s now being found in Bushwick and other rapidly gentrifying areas of Brooklyn. I kid. It is a delectable concoction at Guru made from, “organic & wild blueberries and marionberries cooked into a jam with culinary lavender.” Mmmmm. Now, this could go awfully wrong and taste like a Violet candy if there was too much lavender. Luckily, they figured it out and have given us a really unique and delicious donut.

Verdict: I’m going back to try as many of their flavors as I can. You should, too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Long’s Bakery in Indianapolis, Indiana

So I’m, “Back Home Again, In Indiana”, for the next 3 weeks. I think the last time I was home this Long was in 2002. It’s great to see how the city has changed, and it has tremendously, but also great to see that some things have stayed exactly the same. Long’s Bakery, opened in 1955 by Carl Long, is now run by his grandson Dennis Rinehart and has Long been an Indy tradition. By all accounts, it is still the standard bearer of donuts in central Indiana, with Long lines out the door to prove it.

What I Had:

-Cinnamon Fried. Yup, basically a fried cinnamon roll dunked into a vat of icing. Yup, it’s as good as you’d imagine.

-Applesauce Cake. Moist, perfectly cooked, and fantastic with a glass of milk.

Verdict: When in Indy, this venerable spot should definitely be a stop you make. It’ll leave you Long-ing for more (that’s 5 times I said Long, if you were counting.) Highly Recommended!

Krumpe’s Do-nuts Hagerstown, Maryland

Krumpe’s is open from 7pm - 2am, Sunday - Friday. I mean, that in itself makes it intriguing enough to make the 35 mile journey from where I was in Pennsylvania! So it was that I, along with several castmates from a show I was in, caravanned down after a show.

A Hagerstown tradition since 1936, when German born Rudolf Max Albert Lewis Krumpe opened “Mother Krumpe’s Do-nut”, his son, Max, took over the wholesale delivery business in 1947 and in 1950 moved the shop behind his house. It was then that customers would start coming late at night when the donuts were being made, asking if they could purchase them there. And so, the tradition of late night donut drives began. And the world was made a better place for it. And stoners no longer only had Taco Bell when the hunger cravings set in.

What I had:

Uh, well, I had 5 donuts that night.

-Hot and fresh glazed yeast. 2 of them. Delicious sweetness

-Cinnamon Sugar Apple Filled. Like an apple pie. Gorgeous!

-Cream Filled, Chocolate Glazed. Not too heavy or sweet. Loved it.

-Eclair. Chocolate. Maybe started feeling gluttonous after this one.

Verdict: An incredibly unique and fun experience and amazing, no fuss and classic donuts. Highly Recommended

Every Journey Begins With One Donut...

To put it mildly, I love donuts. I love the ritual of going to get them. I love their texture, their taste, and the memories they evoke. Being late to first period in high school because I just HAD TO get my blueberry donut at Shadeland Station or the excitement of the first Krispy Kreme opening up (pretty sure I was late to something because I had to go there, too).

This next year will have me traveling... a lot. One of my very favorite things about traveling is exploring the local culinary scene, from the hole-in-the-wall to the Michelin rated hot spot. And of course, donuts. So please, join me on my trip around the U.S. as I get a sampling of the local donut delicacies. And, just to keep it interesting, i’ll let you know if I manage to keep my weight in check throughout this potentially gut busting endeavour. ALSO, check-in in about 2 months time for another food related blog/social experiment I’m REALLY excited about and will be writing about during my travels.

If you have a favorite donut spot in your hometown, please let me know!
