Some things I like about fics generally speaking:In general, I like fics that either emulate the style of the source material or that work to subvert that style in an interesting way. I love happy endings, first time stories, stories about friendship, adventure stories, introspective pieces, comedies and angst! I love crossovers, if you're struck by one of those (my Ao3 profile should give you a hint as to the fandoms I know) - as for AUs, in spaaaaace is always a winner for me, as is "they fight crime”! If you want to move a time setting, please note that I have a DNW on modern day or mundane settings (any exceptions detailed below.

Sanzo finds (or is gifted with/saddled with) an artefact that interacts with his sutra in strange ways. He and the ikkou may have to carry put a quest to be rid of it.

Sanzo, his unique people skills, and other sanzo-priests. A trip he took as a child with Koumyou; meeting Sharak at a less-fraught time; putting up - or not - with Ukoku.

Koumyou and Ukoku, being sanzos together and having adventures (Or, the odd friendship between an immovable object and an unstoppable force. Which is which is up to you ;-) If you would like to have Ukoku want more than friendship, that's fine, but please keep it at him pining and Koumyou innocently never noticing. Or "innocently" never noticing. is Koumyou teaching Ukoku how to be a sanzo? Trying to keep him out of trouble? Trying not to push him down a well and abandon him?

Sharak gets a divine visitation – but not from the usual Person. Kanzeon is missing, and Sharak is given a secret mission to find Hir and get Hir back to work before anyone notices Se's gone . . .

The wholesome and delightful tale of a young novice and his wise master. Only it's the boy who will eventually be Kami-sama and Ukoku, so less "wholesome and delightful" and more "horrifying" and "shitshow". Either & or / is fine for their relationship.

Gonou/Kanan - their good old days, and how they balanced their romantic relationship with their sibling one not being discovered.

Houmei and the others are flung back in time to solve a problem for a previous sanzo, or forwards to help/hinder the Sanzo-ikkou.

The characters are space-monks! (Either space opera or science fantasy Mars). This gives new and exciting ways for Houmei to slack off, and for all of them to develop their magical and or scientific skills.

They're still gods, but in spaaace! Tenpou and Kenren are now part of Heaven's space navy. Tenpou's hoarding and untidiness are a lot more dangerous in zero-G. What might they be sent to control?

The four of them make it to and through the door. Is that the end of their problems?

The Gaiden pantheon has to deal with other pantheons. (Whether through bureaucracy or at a huge inter-pantheon conference) Is Konzen in his element or driven even more up the wall? Maybe a member of another pantheon takes a shine to Goku and tries to snaffle him . . .

Kanzeon Bosatsu takes Goku away. Konzen is of course extremely relieved, until he isn't, and starts to try to get him back.

Jiroushin has worked for Kanzeon Bosatsu for centuries. Nothing could ever possibly induce him to go on strike, except –

Any of the Schwarz characters or ships in Rosenkreuz. What is Rosenkreuz? Possible a story on Schwarz's training, or their return there for some reason - to take it down, perhaps, as they canonically have very bad memories of the place.

Nagi and Mamoru becoming a couple (or platonic friends if you prefer), or getting rid of an enemy as proof of affection and/or friendship. Could be set before Mamoru takes up his family position. Or a getting back together fic, set in their future (as a romantic relationship or platonic friendship).

For Reasons, Schwarz have ended up in the past and can prevent the founding of Eszett and/or Rosenkreuz. Do they? Do they found it themselves? When and where are they?

Aya takes his sister's name, wears her earring, dedicates his whole existence to her - and keeps using her name even after she's well and safe. (What if she wasn't safe, and the demon *was* summoned and Aya-chan was its host? What would Aya do? Could he kill a monster wearing his sister's face – or would Aya-chan and the demon live with each other to some degree to her brother's discomfort?) Tell me about the oh-so-close/much-too-close Fujimiya sibling bond!

Weiß find themselves facing down a supernatural horror in a classic haunted house.

The Takatori family tragedy – or soap opera – is multi-generational. How did Hirofumi, Masafumi and Mamoru get on as children/teenagers? The only flashback we see of them seems positive (even if Masafumi is already creepy) – show me life for the Takatori children. Or how about the older generations? What did Saijou do or not do that made his sons such enemies – was it really all down to Reiji marrying the woman that Shuichi loved? And then Shuichi and Mamoru – he never doubted that Mamoru was Reiji's son, but please give me a story about Mamoru-as-Omi's training, showing how Shuichi could have hated his brother so much that he was willing to brutalise the boy who was, after all, Kikuno's son.

A mild-mannered Chinese cleric and his ward in 1960s Oxford (home of bumping off mild-mannered visiting academics) - how and why do they come to Morse and Thursday's attention?

David Allard & Kami-sama: David's impromptu spell frees Kami-sama from the castle, rather than Luke from his prison. Now David is still stuck with a powerful, amoral spell-caster with a strange sense of humour - but this one's a lot more murderous . . .

Cadfael & Koumyou: together, they fight crime. I'd be equally delighted by either Cadfael in Ancient Fantasy China, or Koumyou in Anarchy-era England. What do Cadfael's brothers make of an apparently spacey Buddhist monk in their midst, or how do the monks of Kinzan deal with a sharp minded Christian detective-monk?

Jiang Cheng & Sharak: While searching for something, Jiang Cheng comes across a holy woman in the course of his adventures and night hunts and has to deal with her being accomplished in dealing with dangerous magical creatures and resentful energy. Jin Ling's presence very much appreciated! Either version of ancient Fantasy China would be great (or both, if you wanted the characters to inadvertently wander between universes).

Two mad scientists together, just happily contravening the laws of nature. Has Dr Ni drafted Dr Frankenstein in to help resurrect Gyumaoh, or has Dr Frankenstein enlisted his aid in resurrecting corpses?

Genjo Sanzo & Jin Ling: Sanzo is, as the rest of the ikkou have noted, oddly good with small animals and with children, much to his own disgust. Suppose he ends up with the overly confident heir to the Jin sect, eager to prove to his uncle(s) what a sensible, adult, wise teenage idiot he is? It's Sanzo's chance to put all of Koumyou's lessons into practice for the next generation! Or not . . .

Clovis Sangrail/Kami-sama: I love the light, malicious fun of Saki’s stories, their sometimes surreal and always pointed satirisation of the time. I especially love the character of Clovis Sangrail and his terrible (for other people) sense of humour. Clovis, who is so Terribly Frank, and who refuses to ever be officially older than seventeen, may not have been tutored by a heretic sanzo but in sheer happy mean-spiritedness he can probably give Kami-sama a run for his money. Put these two lovely young monsters together!

Clovis Sangrail/Peter Wimsey: would Clovis and Peter like each other? Almost certainly not, unless you count Clovis's joy in getting under people's skin. Perhaps they could fight crime – or maybe Clovis has taken up crime as an antidote to boredom. Or perhaps, as with Peter, the War made inroads on Clovis and they deal with the aftermath together. Is Clovis still seventeen? If so, how?

Sharak Sanzo & or / Jiang Yanli: Give Jiang Yanli a friend who will take no nonsense (or prisoners) and will set all the young male cultivators back on their heels, or possibly a love interest to have adventures of her own with. Put Sharak in the universe of The Untamed, or send Jiang Yanli to Saiyuki.

Nie Huaisang and Wang Zhi, looking so very harmless and charming! And being utterly, utterly ruthless in achieving their goals - maybe Wang Zhi needs a cultivator for one of his plots? Or Nie Huaisang has decided to throw someone very unexpected at his dear San-ge?

Priestess of the Moon/ Young Woman Brought for Sacrifice - is this a fantasy or other setting? It could be a tragedy or happy ending. The priestess might be of high or low rank, as might be the sacrifice - why is there going to be a sacrifice in the first place, is it a regular event or is this some extraordinary thing?

Iron Age Warrior/Stranded Space Traveller (M/M) - this might take place in an iron age society of our world, or on a different planet altogether. The warrior will have his own cultural bias to interpret the things that the traveller can do, and vice versa. There may or may not be a way off planet for the stranded traveller.

Ruler of colony planet unvisited for centuries/Diplomat sent to re-establish contact - the planet's tech could have regressed to a low level, or progressed to a higher level than the diplomat is expecting. The colony will have had to adapt to its surroundings, which the diplomat will need to take into account. The ruler might be of any governmental system - how does the diplomat fare?

Human rebel against Elven rule/Elf commander sent to put down local uprising - What views on humans does the elven commander have, and how is it that he meets the human rebel? Why is there a rebellion in the first place?

Selkie/Islander woman - possibly a folktale or fairy story. Selkie women trapped by human men tend to escape eventually - perhaps this one isn't trapped by the human women, or does the trapping herself.

DNWs

graphically described non-consensual sex;

characters explicitly and graphically described as sexually active below the mid-teens - in settings where people might marry very young, please keep descriptions of consummation of such marriages inexplicit;

in the case of Saiyuki/Saiyuki Ibun mentions of novices or disciples sleeping with their masters is fine, but please keep any graphic descriptions of such cases to people 15+. No matter how you decide to depict Ukoku and Kami-sama, please keep the rumours and assumptions about Koumyou and Kouryuu false. It's clear that Rosenkreuz was a terrible place, and that Schwarz's ideas about morality are "Don't get caught" - relationships including Nagi are an exception to this DNW, but please keep them on the less graphic side. In the case of David Allard and Kami-sama, David is twelve canonically, please keep Kami-sama on the non-graphic side of weird and somewhat creepy;

explicitly described, on-page serious harm to children/child-like characters or animals (I.e., mentions or descriptions of hunting and tracking or someone fighting/being hit are all right, very detailed descriptions of slaughtering an animal or hurting a child is not);

identity headcanons;

alpha/beta/omega dynamics;

detailed description of trauma to eyes or teeth (generalised description is fine);

modern day events such as Covid, modern day political events such as Brexit, etc;

terminal illnesses or cancer;
