Snow One like you

Image
I know its no where near Christmas, but I just got a box full of stamps from Unity Stamp Co & I needed to ink up this cute little snowman, plus maybe this year my Christmas cards will be done early.  If I commit to making one holiday card a week, I think I can do it.   Isn't the snowman perfect!!  Lisa Hetrick artist extraordinaire illustrated this set, I have to say my favorite thing about this set is the sentiment "Snow one like you" does that not melt your heart or what!   "Snow One" materials used: Unity Stamps vintage cream card stock Cosmo Cricket Oh Joy designer paper gingham ribbon, poppy brilliance ink, button, twine Spellbinders Curvy Rectangle die, long rectangle die mini library clips from SU

We Care usc17

Image
First off , I completely grossed out right now...I felt something weird on my neck, so I touched it and realized it was a bug, well I grabbed it and let out a little aaack, it fell on my shirt...it was a SPIDER ewe!  I'm not afraid of spiders, but to know it was on my neck, kind of creeps me out.  Sorry I had to share, it just happened. This week for the Unity challenge (USC17) was to create a monochromatic card.  I really have a hard time with monochromatic cards, but I think this turned out okay.  I used all coordinating paper and embellishments, so it made it a lot easier {MM Noteworthy stuff}.  I cut out the center panel using my Slice, used the Noteworthy cartridge, I'm just loving that little machine.  The image and sentiment are both from Unity Stamp Compan y.  I also used the sketch from today sc207. "We Care" materials used: MM Noteworthy paper, ribbon, flowers and button Unity stamps Copic Markers Slice  adirondack ink

Ode to my friend Erica

Image
This past week one of my oldest and dearest and bestest friends, Erica came to visit along with her husband and almost three year old daughter.  It was an extra special visit because they were on vacation in S. California at Disneyland and came down to San Diego for a night (and stayed with us).  We have been friends since we were 14 years old!  Its really easy to loose touch with friends especially when you move as often as I do, but not us.  One day, week or several weeks can go by without us talking, but when we do catch up its as if not an hour had passed since our last conversation.  We have lots in common, our love of books (I got her hooked on Twilight and we saw the movie together) and paper crafting among other things.  So when she came down I gave her a little one on one stamping class, she is not a card maker, but I think she has huge potential!  I snapped a few shots of her cards, they are posted below.  But first a picture of us at Balboa Park. Erica & T (thats my nick...

Autumn

Image
I''m back from Disneyland, we really had a wonderful time.  My kids are on cloud 9 and I think it might last until Christmas.   Here is a card I made & sent to my secret sister last week.  Its super simple & post office friendly.  I really don't like to add another stamp for postage, it pains me.  The dp is by Basic Grey & the cardstock is kraft.  The image and sentiment both came in my Oct. kit of the month from Unity Stamps. If you don't have anything going on later, 7pm east coast time, there is a chat over on the Flourishes forum on SCS.  There will be sneak peaks of the new stamp sets being released tomorrow (wednesday).  I will be posting my projects for the release, Wed, Thurs & Friday. I'm glad to be home, hopefully I will have time to surf around and check out all of your blogs.

Happy Wednesday!  Here is my card for the Unity Wednesday Challenge (I combined it with today's sketch challenge too).  Listed are the rules for this weeks Challenge if you want to play along: 1.  Use ribbon 2.  Use something clear; acetate, transparency, button, crystal effects etc... 3.  Use something from your last Unity order I used clear embossing powder, to emboss my leaf image.  Got the ribbon & used the Gratitude=Joy stamp set I got in the mail last week. I added pink because I plan on sending this to Chemo Angels, scroll down to a previous post and you will find info on this cause. "day dream" gratitude=joy, may arts ribbon, primas, clear embossing powder, PTI paper

Stair step card

Image
So I made this a few days ago, but didn't put it on my blog (posted it on scs).  Its called a stair step card.  They really give  Wow effect but they are not too functional.  That is my goal before Xmas, is to somehow make this functional, meaning finding a place to write a message.  I'm thinking a tag behind one of the layers.  You can find the directions on how to make this on Splitcoaststampers, its basically a lot of scoring, which creates the stairs and then you can add more stuff :)  I used Christmas paper from last year, Unity stamps, PTI stamps & some pretty satin ribbon. So my sweet daughter started a blog & has posted some of her cards.  Go over and give her some love :) www.kendallskraftkorner.blogspot.com

Masculine Card Challenge

Image
Hi there bloggers :)  So today is Wednesday and that means another Unity Challenge, this week Lisa was talking all kinds of mess that her husband can make the best card lol.  So a bunch of the girls are having their husbands/boyfriends whoever, make cards (hubby's challenge).  My husband is not going to make a card, (he has made cards for me in the past, but he isn't going to make one for fun lol).  Remember he is a Pilot in the military I would hate for him to make a card and someone in his squadron see it, next thing you know he has a crazy call sign lol, which would be my fault & then it would affect my craft spending & we don't want that to happen.  Anyhow, so for us who's significant other will not make a card, our challenge is to make a masculine card.   I like frilly girly stuff and yummy luscious ribbon & bows, so making a masculine card, is a challenge for me.  I think I did ok.  Right?  This is masculine right?  Now that I'm looking at it, the ...

Unity Challenge

Image
Today is another Unity Challenge Wednesday, this week we (anyone who wants to play) are to make a card but it cannot be a standard size card (4 1/2 x 5 1/2) other than that it can be any size or shape you want.  I made a 7 1/2 x 4 inch card, its kind of long, but I like it. Remember if you play along, upload your card to SCS and put in USC7 in the keyword.  Tomorrow is hip-hop Thursday, where Unity Stamp Co. gives away over $300 in product every week (isn't that bananas!)  All you have to do is show up on the Unity Forum & they pick random winners & have games, not too mention all the awesome deals (more like steals) offered.   Don't forget to check out what all the other ladies did, you can find their blogs on the right. "Giggle" basic black cs, vintage cream cs, Prima designer paper, sheer ribbon, Giggle Grove Stamp set

"Gratitude" Paper Flower Nesting Technique I made the paper flowers, so cool! Stamps from Flourishes LLC paper & ribbon is from MM Passport collection "Twinkle" No P's challenge (no pattern paper or pastels) Red & White Prism Paper, Basic Black cardstock, May Arts ribbon, Unity Stamps "thank you" FS87 white cardstock, Flourishes stamps, textile embossing folder, Copic markers, Primas, SU ribbon

a layout

Image
Waahoo I did a layout :) its Friday night and I am trying to get in the mood to scrap book, so I started with some fun photos.  The pictures are of my son and his teacher (mrs. b) that we had to leave in Florida.  She was his Kindergarten teacher, then she decided to loop up to first grade the following year, so he got to be in her class for Kindergarten & First grade.  She became a part of our family.  Emily came to my children's birthday parties, became my shopping & bingo partner, she attended my husband's winging & truly loved my child.  We worked as a team to make sure Jacob didn't get bored with school (he is academically gifted) and went far and beyond what a teacher is required to do.  Anyhow, you get the picture :)  So this layout is going into my son's schoolday's album.   When I scrapbook, its for me, so I don't follow trends really, the pictures tell me what to do.   I happen to journal a lot.  Journaling is just as important as the pictu...

Happiness

Image
So I have been hoarding this BasicGrey paper (mellow) far too long, so I took it out and cut into it.   I double dog dare you to go use up some paper you are hoarding ...trust me its not that hard, & you will be so proud of yourself! Jeanne put out a challenge to make a fall inspired card & yesterdays SCS challenge was to use a quote, so I combined them.  I made this so fast even my husband and kids were impressed LOL, it just came together nicely (I love that when that happens).  The trees were paper pieced (giggle grove stamp set), the one on the left is popped up with foam tape/dimmensionals, because it looked kind of plain laying there flat lol.  It was really hard for me to not put ribbon on this card, but I really could find the right spot for it.  So no embellishments on this little lady.   So what is everyone's plans for the weekend?  I am going to try to scrap book!  I really really need to.  If I don't show a page in the next few days don't forget to call ...

Thank You

Image
So today's Unity challenge, is a sketch challenge from Maggie (scroll down to see sketch).  I have not played enough with my Sept. kit of the month so I used the butterfly that has the distressed dots in it (so cute!) and the "Thank you for being my friend" sentiment.  I know I used a butterfly yesterday, but I kind of have a thing for them lol and dragonfly's, I just love them.   I colored it in with Copic markers, I added pink in the middle to make it pop & it seems to draw your attention there which I wanted.  I used the Martha Stewart lace punch for the scalloped border.  Hardly ever do I use bling on my cards, but its the only thing that seemed to fit (prima's were just too big)  Of course the sheer ribbon is from May Arts (best ribbon ever lol)  If you decide to play along make sure you post in the Unity forum, tomorrow is Hip Hop Thursday and they are always giving stuff away for just making a card (so awesome!) "thank you" creative imaginatio...

Hi!

Image
Today's color challenge CC:186 over on Splitcoaststampers is Really Rust, Chocolate Chip and Baja Breeze, I don't have any Baja Breeze, so I used Sage Shadow instead.  The color challenges help me out with getting started on a card, its almost cheating because its makes it too easy :)  I originally had some patterned paper where the larger white paper is, but it didn't look right so I replaced it with the white, it gives it a cleaner look. A few weeks ago I won the Floral Fantastical stamp set from Unity, its a fun & whimsy set so I choose the butterfly.  I colored it in with Copics, but it would look really pretty paper pieced to with some nice patterned paper (for those of you who don't like markers any more lol).  The sage looking ribbon is from Making Memories Passport collection of ribbon. So who else is excited that fall tv is back...my favorite show is Greys Anatomy! "hi" chocolate chip, really rust & sage shadow card stock, prism paper, Unity s...

Wednesday Challenge~

Image
This weeks Unity Challenge is to paper piece. So I used the little fairy lady from the September Kit of the month. Isn't she precious :) I stamped her once on white cardstock and then twice more on different sheets of designer paper. I cut out the dress and the wings, then propped them up with dimmensionals. The sketch is from todays SC195 over on SCS, so I really didn't need to think much. I like that :) If you play along make sure to upload your card and post in the Unity forum (they pick winners everyweek from the challenge thread...and give you free stamps, awesome!) Also tomorrow is HipHop Thursday and you never want to miss that fun (they are releasing new stamps). "Love"

Happiness and a trick/technique

Image
So who of you out there have reinkers?  Yesterday I got all 6 in colors of the reinkers (thanks to my DSS...secret sister) is that not awesome or what!  Reinkers are really versatile and you can do so much with them.  I added a few drops of the riding hood red in a bowl and added some water, until I got the color I wanted.  I used the mixed solution to water color on the back (rough side) of this acetate.  Here are step by step directions to what I did: 1.  stamp image with stazon on the rough side of the acetate 2.  Heat set ink 3.  watercolor in your image with reinker solution 4.  Heat set 5. Use Copic marker or another colored solution to add a different color. I used the same mixed solution, took a paint brush & brushed on the ink for the distressed polka dotted background stamp.  It worked so good! {the dots are supposed to look like that its a distressed style of stamp}  I heat set the paper with the dots too, so the ink would not run. ***Also using the same ink and water so...

Show your colors

Image
This week for the Wednesday Unity challenge, Cat challenged us to make a card using Unity colors.  Feel free to play along & to check out all of the other girls projects (their links are to the right) and post your card in the Unity gallery (on SCS).  Everytime you make a card using Unity stamps make sure you also post a link in the challenge thread in the Unity forum, you could win free stamps on HIP HOP Thursday's (where they give a ton of stuff away!)  Ok...sorry if that sounds confusing but is really is easy peasy >" The card base is chocolate chip, layered with Daisy Bucket polka dotted paper & retired SU designer paper, the yellowish paper is by Bazzill (not sure of the color, its like creamy butter color) & if there wasn't enough polka dots going on (another Unity theme...especially in the Sept Kit of the month) I added some May Arts sheer brown polka dotted ribbon.  The stamps are from the Lovin from the oven set.  I popped the oven mitt up with a fe...

Swaps

Image
I participated in a Unity swap, they asked us not to post our creations until everyone got theirs back, and since I just got my return swaps in the mail, I thought I would share them.  This first card is from the stamp set Birds of a Feather, I'm not sure what the price is, all I remember is that is was inexpensive & that is comes with a butt ton of stamps {love that!}.  The sentiment is also from Unity, I just don't have a clue as to what set.  You can't tell from the picture but in real life part of the tail and tummy are sparkly, I used a Sakura Stardust pen, to glitter it up.   "Thank You" Noteworthy dp, Vintage cream cs from PTI, Copics, dimmensionals, Old Olive twill, Kraft dp, Sakura Stardust pen, scallop tool For this card, I used Tiny Trinity, its really cute & versatile, I probably use this set the most right now.  The card stock is from Prism, and the designer paper is by Cloud 9, and the twill is from Martha Stewart "Family Tree" Pris...

Unity Challenge Blog Hop

Image
So today (Wednesday) over on the Unity Forum on SCS there is a challenge to case one of the design team cards and then post it.  Also if you look on the right hand side of my blog you will see a list of Unity Challenge blog hoppers, go visit each of their blogs, and leave a comment one of them is giving away a free Unity Stamp set! For those of you who have not participated in Hip Hop Thursday (tomorrow) it is also on the Unity Forum, and they give away stamp singles and sets and sometimes handles through out the day.  So if you have hesitated about buying them, here is your chance to get them free!  Last week I won the single So N So loves, that I used on my card yesterday.  Let me tell you they do not skimp on the free stuff either, its awesome! So I cased the ever talented Maren's card that you can see here   I changed the paper that I used also the ribbon, I used the same stamp set but I stamped the image with versa mark and then embossed it using clear embossing powder.  I ...
