This layout was just earlier this year, but it still makes me happy. I'm happy that my son has married the woman that seems to be a really good match for him. I'm happy that she is adjusting to a New England cold now. And I'm happy that this iconic sign is still there. Hi there Citgo! I first saw you over 20 years ago!

Travel With Me Tuesday: Getting Ready for Boston
I always enjoy a winter, especially pre-Christmas, trip to Boston. Some think I'm crazy but I prefer cold to hot. Plus one of my sons and his wife now live in Boston so it would be my first visit to see them after their March marriage. I'd looked forward to this for several month!

Back from a week up here visiting my 2nd son and his wife. A totally good week.
Cold Boston, just the way I like it for a visit.

30 Days of Thankful Final
Yes, this is the end for this year. If you haven't ever tried this, I really suggest doing it. You don't have to do it as a digital page or any visual way at all. You can do it any time of year too. Just a paper or somewhere on line even, with a specific gratitude each day. This is all the better if you don't feel all that grateful when you start. You'll be surprised at the Attitude Adjustment you get. Give it a try!!

Friday Filled With Gratitude
Well, the month is over. I thoroughly enjoyed doing 30 Days of Thankful but still have not found my little 6x6 albums. I'll give it a couple months before I give up and buy a new one or two. I hope to do more cleaning up and out in December and January and February. As always, I'll have lots of free time in the New Year . Of course anything can change but so far it looks good for me. So onto the penultimate Gratitude post.

AAM Monday: Project Life Week 45
Time for that nestle in time, for me at least. He starts complaining about the cold round now and wants to be in the warm weather all year round I think. There is no way I will move and be without the 4 seasons. I've lived in hot climates and I really dislike them. Maybe if we live long enough we'll find a compromise. Probably not. Now we take turns turning the heat on (him) and off (me).

Tuesday Thankful 2017
By the time Thanksgiving comes this week, there's been a lot of times to be grateful as opposed to wanting. So 4 more images to share.

And no, I didn't forget about Veterans Day but that one is private so I'll add the 13th. Fair?

AAM Monday: Project Life Week 44
That shot of me all wrapped was me prior to my colonoscopy. Certainly no screaming but in violation of the sign on the wall which says No Photography. We didn't see it until after Dick took the photo AND the nurse said...No photos! I was fine with it because the hard part of this procedure was over. At least I didn't have to drink a gallon of the prep.

Darn! Two Days Early

Back in March of 2009, we were on a trip to the SE area of England. Canterbury and the environs of Kent. It gave my dh a chance to experience what I had meant when I said that in the years I lived in the North of England, I might go out for a day and only cover 5-10 miles. There was so much to see and so many lanes and hedgerows and cemeteries with graves to examine and by then it would be time for lunch or at least tea.
I had never driven in this corner of England and despite the short days, the damp and the fog, we made a go of it. He minded the damp chill much more than I did but then I had learned the necessity of layers decades ago. But back to the fish...no we didn't get any. We saw this sign on a Wednesday. Our loss.

AAM Monday: Project Life Week 43
This was the week that I started to feel overwhelmed by the number of doctors I needed to visit. Some were easy enough like my eye doctor but I had forgotten to get a referral so I was really fortunate to be able to see a doctor the next day - with a referral! This week was also some of our (god willing) final warm weather. The mold outside was worse than I have ever seen. Thank you Dick for dealing with it!

TBT: 1971 Birthday Party
1971 in England. My son's 4th birthday party with some of the neighbor children. I don't recall the boy in the striped shirt but suspect he was a schoolmate from my son's pre-school class. While this is August, he is the only one dressed for summer. But then again, this was an English summer.

What you probably would not see at a children's birthday party these days (I hope!) is the father smoking a cigarette with all the children and, as you will see in the next image, a newborn.

Outside our front window is another image - my dark green Hillman Minx, aka 'the pig car' as it was extremely sluggish and chugged up the many hills of Yorkshire, always making me wonder if it would die then and there. Also, here's ruddy British Mum and children.

I was just talking to a friend about the Wedgwood china you see in the back cabinet. My xh has that set which included almost all the pieces made in the Black Florentine pattern. It was one of the benefits of living in England when the $ was strong. And yes, a cake dotted with Smarties.

Not the greatest photo but one in which you can see the clothing of the era. Note the length of my dress. I had others that were shorter...
