A product tradeoff from building Elmren Voice: generate on the Mac, read along in a browser.

The app uses local English synthesis and authorized voice cloning after the initial engine/voice downloads. Version 1.10.0 is live for Apple Silicon M1+ / macOS 13+; 64 built-in voices. Interface languages and supported reading languages are different: the UI has 11 languages, while the current reading workflow is English.
Here is an actual export you can open: elmren.com/demo?utm_source=commune
For builders shipping generated media, what chapter size makes a browser export comfortable to share? I would value feedback on loading and navigation in this example.
Disclosure: I develop Elmren Voice. It is $39.99 once for one Mac, with a no-card/no-account trial (120 minutes over 7 days). This post was prepared with AI assistance and checked against the product.

Hi!
I have 20 years of software development experience, building apps, games and using + extending agentic tools.
You can find examples on my personal site and Github:
I’d love to connect with one or two builders to hang out on Discord, share what we’re working on, bounce ideas around, and help each other with our own projects.
I’m also interested in mentoring someone earlier in their development journey. If you’re building something you care

Hey everyone! 👋
I’m building TestnHire, an online talent assessment platform that helps recruiters and businesses evaluate candidates based on their skills before making hiring decisions.
The platform offers online skill assessments, technical and coding tests, cognitive and behavioral assessments, candidate screening, proctoring, and performance insights to help hiring teams make more informed decisions.
My goal is to make hiring more skill-focused and help businesses

One thing I’m learning is that building a useful product is only part of the journey. Reaching the right audience, understanding recruiters’ actual challenges, and earning users’ trust are just as important.
I joined this community to connect with founders and builders, share ideas, learn from others’ experiences, and get honest feedback that can help us improve.
Here’s what I’d love your feedback on:
If you’re a recruiter, HR professional, or founder who hires people, what is one thing you would improve about the candidate assessment process? And what would make you more likely to try a platform like TestnHire?
I’d genuinely appreciate your thoughts. I’m also happy to check out what you’re building and share thoughtful feedback in return.
Project: testnhire.com/
Looking forward to connecting with everyone and learning together! 🚀

Hey everyone, I’m building PDFly XO, a free online productivity platform bringing PDF tools, image utilities, QR codes, WhatsApp tools, XO Link and XO Bot together in one place.
My goal is to build something genuinely useful that people want to use, recommend and return to. The product is live, and I’m now focused on the hardest part of building: getting the right users, learning from their feedback and finding repeatable ways to grow organically.
One lesson I’m learning

One lesson I’m learning is that building features is only half the job. Distribution, positioning and understanding what users actually value matter just as much.
I joined Commune to connect with founders and builders who are figuring out the same challenges, share what I learn along the way, and get honest feedback rather than just encouragement.
Here’s what I’d love help with: Take a look at PDFly XO and tell me one thing you would improve to make it more useful or more likely to attract its first 1,000 genuine users.
I’m happy to return the favor. Share what you’re building, and I’ll give you thoughtful feedback from a fellow builder.

Heya Abhishek, welcome to Commune! 👋 I think you’re right that distribution and positioning become the harder problem pretty quickly once the product itself is working.
My first impression is that PDFly XO does a lot, which is useful, but that might also make it harder for a new visitor to immediately understand the main reason to use it. I’d probably experiment with leading much harder with one or two of your strongest use cases, then let the broader toolbox reveal

Another thought is that you’ll be competing with lots of similar tools, so I think it’d be worth starting on SEO early too. A blog around relevant search terms and building some backlinks through directories could help over the long run, especially since your DR is currently 0.
Also curious, which feature is actually getting the most usage so far?

I built a small day-by-day planner for Morocco trips. It started as a way to put a route together and share it with a guide, but I’m trying to make it useful for people planning on their own too. You can move stops between days and get rough drive-time estimates. If you try it, what feels confusing or missing?

Nice, this feels like a useful little tool, especially for trips where you’re moving between a lot of places.
I think it would be good to include a map so that it'll be more visual and help with the planning too!
Cool project 👍

Hi, I'm Tamil. I'm a solo founder in Bangalore building Mac apps with Claude Code, and I ship something most days.
Right now it's Kiiwi, mechanical keyboard sounds for your Mac. It plays real recorded switches, not synthesized ones. It has 4 paying customers so far, and I'm planning the public launch for next week. Before that, I built Quill (Voice Typing for Mac), which is open source.
This week I'm stuck on pricing. It's $4.99 for the first

This week I'm stuck on pricing. It's $4.99 for the first 100 sales, then $6.99, and I can't tell if the jump will help or put people off. I'd love to hear from anyone who's launched a Mac app or a small paid tool, especially how you got your first 100 customers.
I also run Flownix Labs, where I build automation systems for coaches and consultants. Happy to help with Claude Code setups or automations if that's useful. Glad to be here.

Heya Tamil, welcome to Commune, glad to have you on board here! 👋
Kiiwi sounds like a pretty fun idea, especially using recordings of real switches rather than synthesized sounds.
On the pricing, I actually think $4.99 for the first 100 customers and then moving to $6.99 feels pretty reasonable, but I think it also depends on what your other competitors are charging in this space and how you compare with them. In terms of the price jump itself, I think it is fine - it

In terms of the price jump itself, I think it is fine - it helps gives people a small incentive to jump in, while the increase isn’t so big that it should feel jarring later.
Good luck with the launch next week! Would be interesting to hear how those first 100 customers come in too 😄
Am also interested to hear more about the automation systems you've setup and how you optimise your workflow with Claude Code setups and other automations etc!
