EP election map

On File:1979 European Parliament election, political grouping breakdown by countries.svg and File:1984 European Parliament election, political grouping breakdown by countries.svg the results from Denmark are inaccurate as they do not include the seat elected in Greenland. The table on the Wikipedia article was also inaccurate. In both 1979 and 1984, the Socialist Group should have 4 seats in Denmark. Gust Justice (talk) 18:21, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I’ll fix the maps tomorrow morning as I just left my laptop. And thanks for fixing the tables in the articles沁水湾 (talk) 22:49, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 Tees Valley mayoral election

Regarding File:2024 Tees Valley Mayoral election.svg, there are some typos in the image. "Stockton-on-Tee" should be "Stockton-on-Tees", "Darllington" is "Darlington", and "Hartleypool" is "Hartlepool". Can you correct these please? ISD (talk) 14:10, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

UK House of Commons 2023 map

Your map File:UK House of Commons constituencies 2023, labeled.svg is really gorgeous work! Just wanted to let you know that the Scottish Central Belt inset seems to have some constituencies that are missing outlines (Edinburgh West and Cowdenbeath & Kirkcaldy)--this seems to have popped up in the last edit. Thanks again for your work on these great maps! Torrid1268 (talk) 01:03, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2019 UK general election, countries and regions map

Hi, firstly wanted to say that I really like your county maps and think it's a brilliant idea. But, shouldn't the colour for Yorkshire and Humber on the 2019 general election map be a light red as labour held more seats there than the conservatives (28 compared to 26)? TestIt297 (talk) 19:33, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. The Tories won more votes than the Tories in Y&H region in 2019, even if Labour won more seats. 沁水湾 (talk) 03:42, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah ok didn't realise that's how you were doing it. Sorry and thank you TestIt297 (talk) 09:30, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think my current map can be misleading? If so in what way do you think I can alleviate that? 沁水湾 (talk) 17:34, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 Catalan regional parliamentary election map (error)

Hi, thank you for your contributions to this map. It has an error though: in the province of Lleida AC is incorrectly shown has having 2 seats (it only has one). This is correctly depicted in the graphic itself, but not the number. Could you fix it, please? Thank you! Impru20 (talk) 14:00, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Separate UK parliamentary Constituency Maps

Hello @沁水湾. I was wondering if you could using the exact same information existing map I have provided you of the whole of the UK make four separate Parliamentary constituency maps of the exact same format create four separate blank maps for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales please and also for each of the nine regions of England. The data you need is all there we just need the separate maps making and thank you in time for the 2024 United Kingdom general election. (MOTORAL1987 (talk) 16:52, 28 May 2024 (UTC))[reply]

Absolutely.
Would you mind if you wait for a couple of days? Have some real-world business I must attend to for the these few weeks but I’ll be back.
I spottested some mistakes in that old map: a few constituencies were labeled using preliminary not finalized names. I’ll rectify them first and it’s going to take some time (not long, maybe a day or so). 沁水湾 (talk) 17:28, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That’s no problem at all, as long as it’s on your to do list then it can wait a few days and thank you it’s just we have articles for the election separately for each of the nations and regions of the UK as well as a National article for the whole of the UK. (MOTORAL1987 (talk) 17:31, 28 May 2024 (UTC))[reply]
P.S I assume you are aware but in case you haven’t the general election in the U.K. has been called for 4 July 2024. It would be good to have blank maps for each of the UK regions. Also I wondered and there is no rush on this one if you could create a map of the Brexit referendum results from 2016 which I know you have already have done by parliamentary constituency area but could you create one which shows the results by the 382 counting areas. (MOTORAL1987 (talk) 08:16, 29 May 2024 (UTC))[reply]
I already have a blank map.
Here, do whatever you want with it: File:2024 United Kingdom general election - Result.svg.
I was going to upload it under the name File:2024UKElectionMap.svg to keep it consistent and harmonious with the previous set of files with the same general layout, but someone beat me to it unfortunately. 沁水湾 (talk) 11:06, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I know you already have a blank map of the whole of the UK but we just also need separate blank maps of the Nations and Regions of the UK and thank you but I can’t do anything with a blank file. That was all I was saying and no offence was ment I wasn’t having a go with you at all. (MOTORAL1987 (talk) 13:58, 29 May 2024 (UTC))[reply]

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. 2024 United Kingdom general election map

Hi there! I'm just getting touch to first thank you for constantly updating the map of declared constituencies for the 2024 United Kingdom general election. I was wondering if you could please read our talk page discussion in which I proposed that, because Reform UK and the Conservatives have such similar colours (and distinguishing them on a small infobox map is very difficult), we use #9CF2FF instead of #12B6CF for Reform on the map. Many of us have a consensus on this. If you look at this survation map, you can see how difficult it is to differentiate. https://www.survation.com/survation-mrp-update-labour-set-to-become-the-largest-party-in-scotland/ Dhantegge (talk) 03:23, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'll change it in the next update. 沁水湾 (talk) 03:57, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for the map in 2024 United Kingdom general election. You're probably aware that a recount is taking place today in the Inverness, Skye and Wester Ross constituency. It is expected to go to the Liberal Democrats, with the SNP having conceded defeat already, but that is not a certainty, at least not legally, so thank you for keeping that constituency coloured in black (as uncertain) for the time being. 2023 Notional Boundaries

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:2019UKElectionNominalMap.svg

The notional boundaries are incorrect as they use Electoral Calculus as a source. The notional boundaries from Rallings and Thrasher: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Periodic_Review_of_Westminster_constituencies#Notional_2019_general_election_results are used across Wikipedia and the BBC. The map has slight inaccuracies in seats like Warrington South (Labour), Wirral West (Labour), and others. I couldn't count them all but the BBC and other sources have the original Rallings and Thrasher numbers. (https://www.theguardian.com/politics/ng-interactive/2024/jul/03/what-constituency-am-i-in-boundary-changes-map-uk-general-election-2024-votes-postcode) 50.53.1.241 05:12, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 UK election in Scotland map

Hi there, just wanted to thank you for your work on producing the map. I see you’ve coloured in Lothian East as being an SNP seat when in fact it was gained by Labour with 49.2% of the vote. 1994 South African Election (200 Regional Seats Discovered)

Good evening. I wanted to let you know that I recently discovered the "missing 200 regional seats" in the South African General Election of 1994. Very little information exists anywhere online regarding these results, so I wanted to be the first to let you know, in order that you may complete your 1994 South African election map. In my opinion, you make some of the best detailed and visually pleasing election maps on Wikipedia, and so I wanted to give you this ever elusive information which remained hidden for so long from us, those who study South Africa and want to inform others about its magnificent history.

Without further ado, here is the final determination of seats in the South African National Assembly as a result of the 1994 general election, as per the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC)'s certification report:

Pre-1998 House of Councillor election results

Hello! Thank you so much for all your awesome Japan and South Korean maps. Over the past year I've collected a huge amount of detailed results and plan on mapping them + creating the wiki pages over the coming months. If possible could you share your color ramps, or the hex values?

For the HoC results, the big one you'll want to use is the Sangiin giin Tsūjōsenkyo Dе̄tabе̄su (参議院議員通常選挙データベース) made by the Kansai University Natori Lab. It has municipality level results for a lot of races for the years 1968-2013, give or take. To register you'll need to use half-width characters only. For your nationwide maps it should have enough data.

There are these 参議院議員通常選挙結果調 digitized by the NDL, but I've taken a look thru some of the non-HoC ones and they only contain very detailed turnout data and none of the actual results, so I'm doubtful this will have the results. Plus you gotta live in Japan to access them. I'm in the process of gathering old newspaper articles that contain prefecture and municipality level results, so I'll let you know when I obtain them. Average Pennsylvanian (talk) 02:35, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you immensely! I'll be looking into them when I get the time 沁水湾 (talk) 17:44, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! :) Also I'd love to help map out all the old Japanese races. I have a lot of data which were a bit challenging to get, and would like to have the colors be the same ones you use. Would you be willing to to share your hex values for the party colors? Average Pennsylvanian (talk) 20:10, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In retrospect the old color ramps I used may have some drawbacks. I'm considering creating a new set for use in the upcoming snap election. Would you mind waiting for a few days?
And I’d like to share my proposals with you and hear your thoughts. 沁水湾 (talk) 22:32, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing! Don't mind waiting at all, I'd love to see your proposals. I am a bit curious on your color schemes for LDP (or independent or JSP for older) candidates who win 80%-90%+ of the vote, those with the 5-point increments. Average Pennsylvanian (talk) 21:52, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi!

I’ve just updated the House of Representatives maps covering 1996 to 2021, and I'd like to share some of the key changes with you:

-A new set of ramps with 5% intervals
-All texts are now bilingual
-A different scheme PR bloc seats visualization: parties are now aligned horizontally in fixed relative positions (e.g., JCP seats will always be placed to the left of DPJ/CDP), rather than vertically based on popular vote. This should be more intuitive when the seat magnitudes in each bloc is large.
-Removed the popular vote pie charts (whilst keeping the turnout ones), government formation outcomes, and party leader names

I’d love to hear your thoughts! 沁水湾 (talk) 19:37, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-1997 South Korean presidential election results (and others)

Hi again! Did some research for this as well and here's how to find detailed voting data:

  1. Go to the National Election Commission website
  2. On the top of the page you'll notice there's two buttons side by side saying "최근선거" and "역대선거". Click on "역대선거"
  3. You'll see there's a brown bar with 5 links. Click on "투·개표" which is 2nd from right
  4. There'll be 7 links that appear just below the brown bar. From left to right they are: early voting rate trends (사전투표율 변동추이), early vote data (사전투표현황), voter turnout rate trends (투표율 변동추이), voter turnout data (투표현황), election results data (개표현황), election results by eup/myeong/dong (개표현황(읍면동별)), and election results by voting district (개표현황(투표구별))
  5. Note of above: The results by eup/myeong/dong have only recent elections, earliest presidential is 2007. Results by voting district go back further to 1987 presidential
  6. For municipalities data, click on the 3rd from right (개표현황)
  7. On the table, on the "선거유형" row, from left to right: presidential (대통령선거), National Assembly (국회의원선거), local elections (지방선거), and by-elections (재·보궐선거). So in this case, click on "대통령선거"
  8. Select the presidential election you want to look at (for 1997 and earlier would be the 15th and below)
  9. For the "선거" popup, click on the "대통령선거" option
  10. For the "시도" popup, you'll have the option of selecting any of the South Korean provinces. Once you've made your decision click the search button popup
  11. You'll see municipality data on the gu/gun/si level, for candidate totals and percentages (후보자별 득표수), all candidates total (계) registered voters (선거인수), abstentions (기권수), invalid (무효투표수), and valid votes (투표수). On the very right on top of the table there are PDF and Excel download options
  12. You can use this same method for the voter turnout data (투표현황). Unfortunately no detailed data for all the constitutional referendums...

Hope this helps :) Average Pennsylvanian (talk) 03:11, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this super detailed guide! 沁水湾 (talk) 20:23, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! Looking forward to seeing all the new maps! Average Pennsylvanian (talk) 21:52, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Poland Election 1989 - Shapefile/Data Request

Hi, I'm a researcher at HU/Hertie School Berlin. For a project, I would like to map population shares in the recovered territories in Western and Northern Poland on election results from 1989 and the 90s. It would be amazing if you could help with access to the data that you used to create the election maps with the results in electoral districts of that time. Also, I am really wondering where you found the geo-data for these districts? Thank you very much in advance, looking forward to get in touch! Smijoktrepeu (talk) 10:22, 10 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies. The 1989 map was actually hand drawn in Illustrator. I recreated those districts based off of the Polish Wikipedia page's description on the geographical coverage of constituencies. They may not be 100% accurate.
