- - 10 doesn't use this strange color, but only yellowed material.
- - 14 does not present Scandinavian cross, only a very thick Saint George's Cross

- — Moved gallery posted by @213.192.68.53: :
-
right lion to most flags, but on some he shouldn't have a crown and the golden ax
-
Lion for 7, the ax should be larger and the tail is different
-
crown for 8 and 16, jewels must be gilded
-
the lion most similar to the 15, also the wrong tail
- — 213.192.68.53 — end
— end of En rouge edit
- @213.192.68.53: , please, can you give references for your arguments :
- but in (ref.1), we can see differences between mast color (yellow-ish) and flag color (olive-ish)... what are your sources?
- but I can agree with you, as for #10, I think viewed-black is blue instead, but I have no source...
- I think it's the same (blue instead of black) for 6 & 7 (painted source images give me this feeling), as well as 10 perhaps ;
- 14 seems really be black (but I've got no other source than the given paper painted flags copy)
- for 14: do you mean the cross is centered ? do you have a source ?
- and/or other sources ?
-
- for lion's tail, what's the problem ?
- the main issue can be inward or outward... whatever the painting/display/rendering...
- no?
- all pictures are lion-ward (i.e. outward), rather than leopard-ward (inward)
- so, what do you mean ?
thanks En rouge (talk) 00:17, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
- @En rouge: Given the lack of sources (or indeed responses) from the other User, I think it may be best to proceed with adding the extra symbols to the flags in the best way you see fit yourself. If you're still up for it of course? Snow Lion Fenian (talk) 18:00, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

1 request is a restore of the old version of incorrect flag [1] sources:[2] [3] [4] Done
2 request is the addition of the Mir standard [5], which also requires an emblem.
I have not found a reliable source with the correct image of the coat of arms, but it was certainly a lion holding flag, with a ribbon on the mast with the word Hunza state and inscription above the flag [6] [7], most likely no formal draft exists.

Vector diagrams for linear patterns of the skin
-
Langer's lines
-
Dermatomes
Article(s): en:Langer's lines, en:Blaschko's lines, en:Dermatome (anatomy)
- Request
- I think it would be nice to have standardized vector images for the three common linear patterns of the skin (i.e., Langer's lines, Blaschko's lines, and dermatomes). This article has diagrams of all three of them, but you may want to look at several images for each because there's some variability between different representations.
- As far as the styles of the illustrations, the format of side-by-side anterior and posterior views is the most common.
- From a scientific standpoint, one important consideration to remember is that Langer's lines represent a vector field of skin tension, while Blaschko's lines and dermatomes are used to demarcate particular segments of skin. In other words, for Langer's lines, the lines themselves are what's important, while for Blaschko's lines and dermatomes, it's the segments of skin between the lines that are important. This should influence the choice of coloring style. I think it's going to be too complicated to accurately color Langer's lines and I haven't found any images attempting it, so those don't need to be colored. For the other two, the segments should be colored (we don't even technically need lines between them if the contrast between the colors is enough to see the boundaries between the segments, but I'll defer to your judgement on that). The unique thing about Blaschko's lines is that they have a directionality to them, from back to front (i.e., wrapping around from spine to navel), from medial to lateral (shoulders to fingers) and from top to bottom (hips to toes). The image here may show the directionality a bit better for the legs. I'm not sure what the best way to show the directionality of the segments will be, but perhaps shading them so the beginning is more saturated than the end. Dermatomes should be filled with color according to the level of the nerves innervating them, as shown here.
- Thanks, and happy to discuss further. --Rob Hurt (talk) 00:10, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

@Rob Hurt: I will really need your help all the way here. So you want three different images each representing different lines; Langer's lines, Blaschko's lines, and dermatomes. So first we will have to find a body illustration that can be used for them all. After that I will check more into each and will for sure have questions. --please ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 15:10, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

@Rob Hurt Now you can find them here; Langer's lines 3D shaded true SVG. If you don't see any problems there this part should be Done
- For the "gender-neutral version" I'm struggling. If you search for "Androgynous human body illustration" there is not much difference to them and what we have, the genital parts are toned down in the ones we have here already. I do understand your point but to me the people censoring stuff like this is living in a world which I don't want to be a part of. And it will be so hard to decide how to look e.g. would male breasts be fine but not female breasts etc. Can we leave it for now and return later on.

Rob Hurt Here you have to check if those lines a good for Blaschko. Don't think about lines sticking out, will fix that later.
Those drafts are PNG versions of the original SVG file I'm working in and will upload to commons.
Those drafts are shown for proofreading only.

- @Goran tek-en I think these look good. The only minor question I have is whether it's possible to make the lines look like they attach to the skin better, following folds on the body such as the chest, armpits, and groin better. But if this is hard, it's not necessary. Other than that, we'll just have to play around with the line thickness and color to make them more visible, and decide whether we want the shading inside to be translucent or opaque. Rob Hurt (talk) 18:03, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Rob Hurt I can try to make them follow the actual body more, now I have followed the different images you showed me so I didn't know that they should be like that, but when I think about it, of course. --please ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 18:10, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Rob Hurt If those drafts not are good you will have to tell me more specifically what you want or even better show me an example.
- Draft-1 100%
- Draft-2 200% --please ping me-- Goran tek-en (talk) 17:06, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Goran tek-en I think the thing I'm noticing is that when the lines wrap around the sides of certain raised structures such as the trachea, breast, and knee, they should follow the contour of the structure rather than continuing straight undisturbed. But this is a minor stylistic point, so we don't need to spend too much time on it, especially if it's difficult. Can you also experiment with the line color/thickness/opacity to make them slightly more visible? Rob Hurt (talk) 17:50, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Rob Hurt If those drafts not are good you will have to tell me more specifically what you want or even better show me an example.

- Hello fellow Wikimedians… According to Hubert de Vries' De Roode Leeuw website's entry on "South Vietnam" there have been separate insignia and badges of historical Vietnamese armed forces and police forces, I have listed them here:
- Badge of the Việt binh đoàn - Vietnamese Army (1947-49).
- Badge of the Vệ binh Quốc gia - Vietnamese National Guard (1949-’55).
- Ancient Police Badge.
- Police Command 1948.
I have looked for free examples of these images for months but haven't been able to locate any scans with them or any other 2D illustrations, so I closed an older request as that one already has an illustration used on Wikipedia but none of these do. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 15:15, 16 December 2021 (UTC)

- Ideally, one does not need to know SVG to add translations using SVG Translate:
- A direct link with the requested file:
- https://svgtranslate.toolforge.org/File:Effects_of_exposure_to_PFASs_on_human_health.svg (DO NOT USE until file is fixed)
- However, this file uses a planar translation (a
switch

Coat of arms of Poland - official version
Article(s): Articles related to Poland
- Request
- Is it possible to fix up this coat of arms a little, (here (p. 9) is how it should look. Now there are some flaws:
- There's wrong type of crown.
- Bottom of the shield isn't pointy and while it looks like that in a source provided, I think it was just accidently cropped.
- Some weird stains on the beak, crown and talons
- It would be good to revectorize the edges of eagle and shield itself, they kinda look bad when zoomed in
However do not change colours. Even if they are different on the official document, on the very next page (10) there are specifications on the exact shades of colors white and red, which after conversion to SRGB are #E9E8E7 and #D4213D. (You can change them if in the svg file there are different colors, but for me it seems just like the SRGB colors I gave). For this same reason I would leave yellow same. Even though it's lighter in the document, you can see that white and red are also lighter than the specification)--Piotr Bart (talk) 18:57, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

I added the namespace to the first, and it now renders. Why are you trying to vectorizze a photograph? It makes a huge SVG file that is a poor copy of the original. The 10 MB image may be too complicated to render in the allotted time. Glrx (talk) 16:20, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Glrx: Thanks for fixing the first one, do you think you can fix the second one as well? These are not my files so any questions regarding why anyone would need them you should ask the uploader.Jonteemil (talk) 17:42, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Jonteemil and Mrmw: Sorry, but I did not have time to fix the second this morning (I was running out the door, and MW was taking for ever to render the image). Mrmw came to our rescue and fixed the second file by adding the namespaces. You had the correct diagnosis. Glrx (talk) 02:36, 9 January 2022 (UTC)

- Pre-2021 version: Gold part of badge needs slight scaling and centering so the arms properly touch the silver border. Note the very slight lack of symmetry.
- Post-2021 version: Compare with this design uploaded directly from the U.S. Dept. of Defense website. The post-2021 SVG image is an altered version of the pre-2021 version, but the alterations only amount to adding the third sword haphazardly, which isn't completely accurate. The gold crest inside the silver border needs to ever-so-slightly be rescaled and centred, and the middle sword to cover the area where the top silver circle is now. The area just above that needs to be reshaped to match the new version. The result should be symmetrical and (aside from keeping with the SVG art style) match the real JCS badge.--SuperWIKI (talk) 14:25, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

- I changed its width and height to 100% (nominally 512px thumbnail) to reveal detail (there's not much!) The file was likely obtained by cropping a blank world map. As Monaco's area is small, it's better to use a large-scale map as a source. cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 09:42, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

- This requires an update to a protected file which can only be done by an Administrator.
- January 27: File:Flag of Honduras.svg was protected due to an "upload" war
- January 27: User:COAmaker17 uploaded a replacement candidate file named File:Bandera de Honduras 2022.svg. It uses the same turquoise colour (#18c3df) that appears on https://gobiernoxiomara.hn.
- February 3: I added an edit request to File talk:Flag of Honduras.svg requesting that the image in File:Flag of Honduras.svg be replaced with the image from File:Bandera de Honduras 2022.svg.
- As of today (February 6): Nobody has commented on the request. Nobody has completed the request. Nobody has denied the request.
- Am I supposed to also add an entry to Commons:Requested updates to protected images? MapGrid (talk) 01:28, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- The creator and owner of the file, User:Kes47 is upset with the change and doesn't want to update the new turquoise blue flag also he started to edit Wikipedia pages referring to Honduras flag removing turquoise and stating that is not a neutral point of view to change the flag despite the new president Xiomara Castro just officialy returned to the turquoise blue mentioned in Legislative Decree no.29 of 1949. COAmaker17 (talk) 21:41, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- How funny to read COAmaker17's mendacious irrelevant comment right when I was making preparations for the upcoming file update. My edits at Wikipedia to aim for neutrality (and common sense) are irrelevant, and nobody asked me how "I felt" about the update request. But since that user mentioned me: yes, I agree with this request (not that it matters, right?). And yes MapGrid, you guys missed the tird step. -Kes47 [REPORT AN ERROR] 22:23, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- More curious for me is that only when someone mentions you about this issue you start to act on it when recently you were reverting editions of the Honduran Flag page trying to impose your point of view, and yes, your recent editions in Wikipedia are relevant in this case leaving aside that you already knew about the request to update the flag for twelve days and you had not done anything until now. COAmaker17 (talk) 22:42, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- I have just added an entry to Commons:Requested updates to protected images.
- @COAmaker17: Please understand that the recent rollbacks to File:Flag of Honduras.svg were done for multiple valid reasons:
- A certain user uploaded a new image without properly explaining why. He or she uploaded the same image 5 times without ever engaging in a discussion on the file's talk page; this is why the file had to be put into a protected state.
- The same user repeatedly corrupted many of the links on the page such that they did not match their captions.
- The same user repeatedly removed the flag from the SVG Flags of Honduras category and placed it into a non-existent category.
- Also, there was initially an expectation (from me) that the flag at presidencia.gob.hn would be promptly updated by the government as proof of the change. Ultimately it appears the old government simply removed the domain name from DNS and made the entire website go away. Not cool. Clearly my expectations were too high.
- So yes, it is not surprising that the page went though lots of rollbacks by lots of people. Please don't assume that those involved in the rollbacks are against a colour change. MapGrid (talk) 23:37, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

@COAmaker17: I'm gonna answer one more time cause you keep lying. Your ability to assume things is astounding. I didn't notice that request till yesterday, and so I estarted uploading that other file; then you mentioned me here. I only noticed one file being replaced by other in es:Wikipedia, a permited it. Other thing: as far as I know, I don´t have to participate in your request, as you are implying. If you build up a good case for the update to be made in a file like this, it will be made with or without my approval. -Kes47 [REPORT AN ERROR] 18:36, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Kes47 Your whole statement falls apart, first it wasn't before I mentioned you here that you started "to prepare the file" but after, this can be proved just looking at the time of your preparations and comparing this time to the time that I mentioned you here, so in fact when I mentioned you at 21:41 you started to do your "preparations" at 21:53. Also you continue to impose your point of view that the new flag is not turquoise and continue removing the word turquoise and just leaving blue in the Wikimedia page Flag of Honduras.svg and the Wikipedia page of Bandera de Honduras. COAmaker17 (talk) 19:06, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hahahaha. So, in your mind, I saw your mention, said to myself "I gotta so something right now!", ran as fast as I could and just a minute later you mentioned me I uploaded this file (with all the information it requieres). No body, I was already on my editing/uploading when you mentioned me, and why I found your comment funny. That's just the time I published those changes. Anyway... Change is done, right? I’d like to have a set of specimen, maybe like the ones above.
I am not sure whether PNG or SVG would be better. SVG is usually better but part of the C* fonts’ and the upcoming fonts’ value is their enhanced use of w:ClearType. - The colored SVG image glitches at 2048×2048px, hiding the elements in the upper right angle. Please, fix this.
- In addition, since many elements in the colored SVG image don't match the original PNG drawings, you could improve the overall design using the uncolored SVG as a base, but please note that the uncolored SVG image is not perfectly squared, while all the other images are. --Est. 2021 (talk) 05:07, 4 February 2022 (UTC)

Image crop

- Please crop this image (inner part which is grey and with blackletter typography should be kept). Thanks in advance! PS. There is also original image, but I couldn't download it in good quality. --Ratte (talk) 22:20, 4 February 2022 (UTC)

Done First, I cropped and overwrote (I hope correctly) the image on Commons, and second, I got full resolution from linked original - if you need it, I will upload it under some other name. - Gabuxae (talk) 12:27, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Gabuxae: Thank you. Could you please upload the original painting in full resolution and crop it to the inner part? Ratte (talk) 17:21, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- A) Which filename you think will be good? B) What is "inner" - only small part with photo and title, or big piece of paper with "St.59" on it? - Gabuxae (talk) 22:06, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Gabuxae: A) File:Ludwig Emil Grimm - Friedrich Carl von Savigny.jpg would be fine. B) 1st variant — only small part with photo and title (I want to use this portrait in the person's infobox, so a picture with big piece of paper would look very small there). Dimension levels.svg
Article(s): en:Dimension, en:Tesseract, en:Hypercube
- Request
- Someone suggested at en:Talk:Tesseract#Change arrow to point up that the green arrow in the third panel (dimension "2") should be pointing upward, since the "Y" axis points upward in the coordinate system diagram in the last panel (and that would make all the arrows point in a positive direction). I agree. The change should be pretty trivial to make, but I can't do it myself. - dcljr (talk) 06:44, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

Bad Z-fighting on STL file

Not sure if this is the right place for STL files, but the Wikimedia rendering of this STL file I created has very bad Z-fighting. It appears fine on a third-party site:
View Jessen_icosahedron.stl on viewstl.com
Can someone please help me fix it? Thanks! --cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 01:29, 6 February 2022 (UTC)
P.S. Swapping the Y and Z axes reduced the artifacts in the thumbnail, but the interactive viewer is still the same.
