I’m a manager at a third-party logistics company. We offer managed transportation and brokerage services for the supply chain and trucking industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Double Up Digital?

We hired them for web development projects.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We use Double Up Digital for web development and some minor design work for our five WordPress websites. They help us manage, maintain, and develop new projects on sites. The team also does QA testing. Three sites were already built, and they picked up the projects from a previous provider. They’ve developed two of our sites from scratch. 

The team has handled foundational changes within the infrastructure of our backend. They’ve cleaned up plug-ins from previous providers to make the site cleaner and smoother. They’ve also completely redesigned one of the websites. Additionally, Double Up Digital helps us with Google Analytics and ongoing SEO efforts. 

What is the team composition?

We work with five teammates from Double Up Digital: four developers and a project manager. I’ve also had contact with Justin and Joel (Co-Founders). 

How did you come to work with Double Up Digital?

They were already our agency when I got hired. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spend $5,000–$7,000 a month with them. We have them on a monthly retainer, and they bill us hourly. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in January 2018, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to Double Up Digital's work, we've seen steady increases in website traffic, which turns into leads conversions and later into revenue. The team is very cost-effective, which is why we've stuck with them for so long. 

How did Double Up Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

I would give them a fairly high rating for project management. For the most part, our requests are handled in a timely manner. However, there have been a couple of slip-ups with their testing process where things slipped through the cracks. They were responsive to our feedback about this and sent over a document detailing how they'd remediate the issue. We haven't had issues like those recently, so they've been isolated incidents. 

They use Teamwork for project management, where I can open tickets and assign them to the project manager. We have a weekly meeting where we go over those requests, and he adds them to their queue. I email them if I have a last-minute request, and they're pretty responsive. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I would highlight two aspects of Double Up Digital: their price and the fact that they're local to us. I've worked with offshore agencies, and while they can be excellent, I've lost a bit of that personal touch in those engagements. Therefore, it's nice to work with a team in our backyard. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could improve their development process, which depends on the size of the company they're working with. Our websites' infrastructures are set up for a small-to-midsize business when our company is an enterprise-level business. We require more security checks than they're maybe used to. Currently, we're changing a couple of things, and they seem to be on board with those changes.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to double-check their work. Justin and Joel are very knowledgeable, so lean on their expertise if you're looking to work with them. Although Double Up Digital does a very good job, sometimes the junior developers don't lean on Justin and Joel as much as they should.
