Tuba Dreams
Jul. 13th, 2025 12:57 pmI dreamed of playing tuba again last night and I'm both amused, and a little more than mildly irritated by the fact it was my old piston valve. If it's a dream, it could've been any tuba. I could've been playing the Kaiser rotary valve I dream of in my waking moments. That was unfair of my subconscious to do to me.
Tubas are that one instrument most players don't really see anymore outside school, to be fair. I do not want that to be my fate. Sure, theoretically I could easily twitch to euphonium or trumpet for convenience, for less financial strain when time comes. But I simply cannot abandon my big wub wub.

I feel like my brain is a pinball stuck in a machine it never asked to be a part of, and every new person I meet is another flipper trying to forcibly coax me in the direction they think they know is the one true, correct path I belong on. I know where I want to go, but pinball tables are tilted in favour of dropping me right back to the bumpers, and in favour of losing the ball altogether.
You can't necessarily win a game of pinball without using bumpers, but why would I want to win a game I never wanted to be a part of?

Jun. 26th, 2025 02:50 pmI needed to take a quick break from piano practice to give my fingers a rest, so I decided to make coffee. Once I returned to the piano with my coffee, I wanted to take a little photo to show what my afternoon is being occupied with today.
Being the aesthetic-loving creature of simple pleasures that I am, I couldn't help but sit editing said photo until my coffee cooled to an unfortunate luke-warm. It's still good espresso though - if a little weak for my taste.
...And yes, it's a Harry Potter mug - a gift from my mother. I really need to get myself some Middle Earth themed mugs.

I have spent many an hour (two days) building and organising a musical playlist of which takes one on a cinematic-esque journey through some of my favourite music genres. As Spotify makes organisation difficult, I will share the combined playlist, along with each separate 'Act' that makes up the whole.
Each 'Act' has been curated to evoke a specific emotional space of its own, and when combined in it's intended (albeit long) order, should hopefully play as a story.
