Hello

It's a new month and we have a new customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog.

The theme this month is Fairy Lands.

As always, we have free images to download to make projects to enter the Card Challengethe Christmas Image Challenge, the Fantasy Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk Challenge and a Gothic Challenge,. The free images can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog pageWe also have a quarterly challenge on the blog.

If that isn't enough challenges, we also have Facebook challenges each month.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free collage sheet.

Here are the projects I made.

A circular mini book:

I die cut the pages from black card and cut white card circles to for the pages. I finger painted the white card with acrylic paints and gold embossed the edges of each. I also sprinkled gold EP onto the pages and gently heated from below so that there was gold 'fairy dust' on each.

The images are from one of this season's collage sets, Darling Pixies. They were each die cut and given a gol mat. Each fairy has glittery wings, but it does not show up well in the photographs.

I typed and printed out some fairy sayings. These were cut into strips and matted on black card.

I added gems and sequins to each page for extra spsrkle.

The pages are held in place with small turquoise ring binders.

Here is the back page:

A card:

I used some toadstool meadow design paper that I already had. This fairy, also from Darling PIxies, was fussy cut, inked around the edges and placed on foam pads to slightly elevate her off the background. Lots of Sticles clear
glitter was added to her wings.
The dimension can be seen below:

A set of Trinchies:

These are small pieces of work measuring 3 x 3 inches.

I used distress oxide inks to make the backgrounds using the  dipping and dabbing into puddles of ink method. I added some smaller images from the Darling Pixies collage set and embellished them with gemstone trim and hand made, die cut flowers and foliage.

Often people ask what the use of small art is. Well, these trinchies, just like ATCs make a good focal point for small cards. Below I simple adhered one trinchie to a plain scalloped edged kraft card.

A Fairy Land light up jar:

For this I used a used lidded candle jar. I added moss to the base along with some pebbles. I made a backdrop from design paper and added a dried thistle, some tiny alder cones and some dried flowers. The fairy was fussy cut from the Darling PIxies collage sheet and fixed in the jar along with a string of LED lights.

The Darling Pixies collage sheets can be purchased here:

Vera Lane Studio: Calendar Trinchies

Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day.

In the Vera Lane Studio Facebook group there is a Calendar challenge. It ends on the 1st December, so I needed to get a wiggle on and complete some pages.

Here are my trinchies for June, July and August:

For June the theme is Summer Fun or Seaside.

I used one of the girls from Beach Love and a palm tree from Aloha, coloured with Copic markers. The background was smooshed in Distress Oxides and some heat embossing and stamping (with AALL & Create stamps) was added. Janet's washi tape acts as grounding.

For July the theme is Destinations or Family Vacations.

I used the French Holiday digi set. The background was stamped with a stencil drenched in Oxide inks. Stamping and heat embossing were added and word washi tape for grounding.

For August the theme is Sunshine or Weather.

I used the Be The Sunshine digi set. The background was stamped with an acetate blocK which held Distress Oxides and water. Janet's Background Noise stamps were used for heat embossing and stamping.

Here are the trinchies on the calendar pages.. Oops - my July and August are the wrong way round :) I'll have to print out the calendar pages again and rescue the trinchies.

Vera Lane Studio: So Cute Together

Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day.

Today I have a trinchie for my 2024 calendar featuring the love struck squishes from the 'Sweet on You' digi set.

The pair are coloured with Copics and on a smooshed Oxide background. I added some stamping in grey around the edges and some white paint splatters. Torn washi tape is my grounding.  The sentiment is from an older set called Love Boat (available on request).

And here they are on the February page of the 2024 calendar:

Gecko Galz: Easter Trinchie

Hello!

I made a sweet trinchie (a 3 x 3 inch square) using a couple of digital collage sheets from Gecko Galz.

The beautiful egg background comes from the Peter Cotton Tail sheet and the girl and goose comes from the Easter Children collage sheet.

The paper was cut to 3 x 3 inches and inked around the edges with Vintage Photo. The girl image was fussy cut and the edges inked. She is popped on foam pads with a piece of cheesecloth behind her. I also tucked some sprigs of natural dried flowers behind the image for some added interest. The sentiment was printed, cut into strips, inked and attached to the corner of the trinchie.
Trinchies are the ideal size for a card topper and are perfect for swaps.

Fairy Trinchie

Hello!

I made my first Trinchie today!

I started with a 3 x 3 inch card base and used Gecko Galz collage sheets to design a miniature collage.

I used elements from these Gecko Galz sheets:

Summer Card Toppers for the background forest.

The edge of the card was inked in Vintage Photo. The blue birds and fairy were attached on foam for dimension. Glitter was added to the wings of the fairy and dragonfly and blue flowers finished it off.

I made this for the Gecko Galz Facebook  challenge
