New Plant

This is called a Fuzzy Tradescantia Velvet Stripe.

I saw this at the store on Sunday when I heard my friend had passed. I left without it. My husband went back yesterday and got it for me along with a large gourd and some little gourds to display in my bowl.

I guess fall is happening!

Don't you just love this gourd? It is bumpy and fun. I will try and dry it after the season.  I was successful drying a different gourd for my dolls head, so I will give this one a try too.

I love the color orange. Especially for fall. It is such a happy color.

I hope you have a wonderful day.

Summer is almost over!

Almost Fall

In a few short days fall will arrive officially even though it feels like it has been here for a couple weeks.  The weather has changed for sure.  Leaves are everywhere.  I enjoy going to the store and seeing all the fall things.

Good news is,  my niece and nephews wife are expecting babies any day. My niece will be induced on Saturday if the baby has not arrived yet. My nephews wife could be having her baby at the same time. It will be exciting for everyone!

The sad news is a dear friend passed on Sunday. He died in his sleep.  It was very shocking and I can not believe it. He was 67.

I made a pumpkin pie on Sunday for my daughter who was having a difficult week. I forgot to take a picture. I also baked sourdough.

I am looking forward to the weekend!

Have a great week!

Butterfly Rehab

Hope you had a great week and you are ready for a new week.

A week ago my brother found this beautiful butterfly on the ground.

We determined it could not fly. I said well I will take it home and keep it safe at least.  I picked some zinnas and made sugar water for it.  I thought it would be gone in a short time. Nope a week later and it is still here. Still not flying, but can climb around. It is now a pet butterfly.  Still eating and drinking. We pick fresh zinna flowers everyday for it.  Every morning I come out to see if it is still with us and it is. I know butterflies don't live long. This is a swallowtail. I will try my best to give a happy life.

It has been fun to watch it.
I was hoping the grandkids would be able to come see it, but they got sick this week. I got sick Saturday so no visits from them this week.
It was some type of respiratory thing. Wheezing and coughing, chills and aches. Not fun to get on my long weekend, but at least feeling better today.  Back to school tomorrow.
I hope you have a wonderful week.

Vintage Wood Bowl

A couple of weeks ago when I got the wood drawers I saw this huge wood bowl.

I did not get it then, but today it came home with me.

I am going to display my sunflower in it for the fall season. I thought the sunflower was huge, but the bowl makes it look small.  Funny how that works.  I love the bowl. It looks handmade like things did back in the day. Anyhow, wanted to share it with you. I will add some more fall things as I decide what.

School is going as usual. The first month is always crazy, then it settles down.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Yesterday

I spent my first day of school at jury duty. So today will actually be my first day of school.

I was not picked for trial.

Our county built this brand new courthouse. It is beyond fancy. Waste of money? I think so, since they never seem to have any judges to conduct court.  But, guess not my problem.  Just feel like the old court house was historical and with some repairs and upgrades could have served the county for another 100 years. 😁

Anyhow, on to my day. I hope you have a great day!

Fall Into Summer

I hope you enjoyed the poem.

It is miserably hot here. So I am stuck doing inside chores today.

I think I have had to much sun. 😁

Vintage Shopping

I saw this cute little corner spice drawer thing at a shop I like to go to.  I really like the old wood and wheat cutouts on the drawers.

Of course it had to follow me home. 😁

This is how I styled it after I cleaned and waxed it.

I love it's unique shape.  It could hang in a corner, but I like it sitting on my kitchen counter.

I hope you are enjoying your day.

Summer Afternoon

It is hot here. School is starting for my daughter. She will be teaching 6th grade. Wishing her all the best!  We start next Monday. I am looking forward to seeing everyone.  It is hard to get back in the routine though.
Oh well, time flies so fast soon it will be Halloween. 🎃
I have a new poem to share tomorrow.
Have a great Monday!!!

Quick Jaunt Through the Garden

Vacation ends in a week. I am sad, but glad too. I will miss being home.

Today I grabbed some pictures of the of the angel garden.

I am making sourdough rolls for dinner and trying something new.  If it turns out I will share pictures.
I have seen a lot of people add inclusions to their dough. One idea was grating frozen bimutter and folding it in before forming rolls or bread loaf. So that sounded yummy to me. Butter is always yummy right?😋
I will let you know how yummy it actually is.
The veggie garden is producing wheelbarrow of stuff. 40 pound watermelons and enough cantaloupe to supply the oncology staff. It has been a great gardening year.
I hope you enjoy your Sunday.

New Plant

I was at Home Depot on Monday and saw these Black Mamba Begonias.

I have wanted one for a year. I have not seen any for sale. Last year when I was getting my car smogged they had a hue one in the waiting room I was at. It was gorgeous.  I hope mine will do well and get big some day.

House plants are fun and I enjoy trying new ones. Some are harder then others, but they keep me busy.  If you like begonias then I recommend this one. It doubles as a Halloween plant. 😁🎃  I know it is July, but I am already dreaming of Fall.

Staying Cool

It is that time of year again, when working outside past 11 am is no fun. I try to get out early and get things done. Then after lunch I do indoor things. Saturday we tried a new cinnamon roll bakery in town. Their rolls start at 7.50 a piece. I thought that was extreme, but I wanted to see what the hype was. Apparently they sell 600 a day! I have been wondering what makes them so special. My daughter has too. We both bake from scratch, so you can understand the reason we were interested.  Anyhow, we were dropping off veggies to friends and family that day, so we stopped and bought a roll. I took it over to my daughter's so we could have a taste. 😀 We decided our homemade rolls were much better and in fact I went home and made some maple cinnamon rolls. 😁

There is just something about homemade rolls. The yeast dough rising, the cinnamon, maple etc. It is just a yummy smell. Anyhow, everyone gobbled them up and enjoyed.
It is easy to make them and you can make a whole dozen for less then one roll at the bakery costs, much less in fact.
Also on Saturday, I went back to the vintage shop I was at the week before to buy a cute little bread board.  It was not stained, so I stained it and waxed it. I won't be using it for cutting on, just to display things on.

I love bread boards.
Heck, I love bread. 😆
I love baking bread.
I hope you have a wonderful week!

Dilly Dallying Through The Garden

 Today's Pictures.

The cannabis lilies are blooming and really I like them mostly for their leaves. They are big and tropical and in the summer it feels like I am on an island somewhere.  😁 I can pretend anyhow.🤣

I have red and yellow ones too. They are not blooming at the moment. I deadheaded them all yesterday.
I had a pink one, but I have not seen it bloom for a while.
Next up is a blackeyed Susan.

Next is a pretty clematis.

It blooms all summer. I have no idea what it is called. I have had it for 20 plus years.

Next is a disco belle hibiscus. Also have had for years.

That's all for today, unless something exciting happens.
Back to dilly dallying now.

More Sunflower Pictures

There was a hummingbird visiting today .

Can you see it?
Hope your week is going well.
