Unexpected quirk of cat ownership
December 1st, 2019 05:25 pmFor whatever reason, I generate a lot of static electricity. When it gets cold and dry, I am forever getting zapped by light switches, etc.
Petting cats, I am realizing, ALSO generates a lot of static electricity.
The poor kitties have gotten to the point that they barely react when I accidentally zap them. I feel SO BAD whenever I do. And it's just gonna get worse as the winter goes on. :(

August 21st, 2019 04:16 pmGood things: An afternoon with nothing I need to do, with kitties hanging out with me.
More good things: Gone for two weeks and kitties still love me.
Even more good things: Significant other spent two weeks with kitties without me and fell even deeper in love with them (and took a bunch of EXCELLENT pictures in his daily kitty pictures).

So. The animal rescue is doing their kitty home visit tomorrow. I visited the Petfinder listings for the kitties, and they are showing up as adopted. No messages from the rescue on the answering machine. Either the visit is a formality and it will have to go terrible to not get kitties or we're about to get our heart broken. AHHHHHHHH!
More organization more organization more organization.
On the plus side the place is looking great! This finally spurred us... er, me... into the organization that we should have done but didn't because exhausted from the year long omg move, then back issues, then semester of overteaching, then the semester of illness (mine) and emergency surgery (not mine)), then more back and knee issues... anyway. It's been a hell of a couple years.

July 2nd, 2019 06:07 pmSo. Cat application has been submitted. We will see what will come of it. While we wait to hear back, all the cleaning all the cleaning omg cleaning. It's good, though; the reorganization after the move stalled out in the omg more busy than expected fall and the hellscape that was omg omfg omfg spring, and this has kicked it back into motion.
The two total sweetheart kitties we are hoping to adopt have been with the rescue for TWO YEARS. Why has no one adopted these total sweethearts for TWO YEARS? (I do have a side worry of is there something wrong with them, but the store was saying there wasn't a huge amount of interest in them, so... ??????)

Us: We'll get a cat when we get organized! We have a lot of organizing to do before we are ready!
Also us: We're waiting for the right cat! When the perfect cat finds us, we'll be ready! Leaning towards Maine Coon, but ultimately it's whichever cat that we will be the best for and will be the best for us! But only one to start with!
And also us: TONIGHT COMPLETELY FALL IN LOVE WITH PAIR OF CATS THAT NEED TO BE ADOPTED TOGETHER AND HOME IS NOT READY FOR CATS

(We will do frantic cleaning and more visits, and if they are available, the bloom does not wear off, and we get this place in shape, we will put in an application)

... I have a Chichuri tumblr I've haven't used for years. I've had a new, more used Tumblr since shortly after Captain America: The Winter Soldier came out that I use on and off in bursts (FIVE YEARS. I've had it for at least FIVE YEARS). I have never HIDDEN that I have a Tumblr. He's seen me scrolling the the dashboard on my Tumblr. I've sent him Tumblr links. I've periodically talked about diving down the Tumblr rabbithole again.
Excuse me, I need to go thwack the idiot with a pillow.

April 29th, 2019 03:33 pmSo much fic is coming out of Avengers: Endgame, brilliant fic in some cases, I suspect, given some of it is from authors I'm fairly fond of. Sadly, summaries suggest that few to none of them are what I need from fic after Endgame, and I do not have the brain or the cope to wade through the ones that are the opposite of what I need to get to the ones that I do.
... which may mean I need to poke at fic, despite being completely overwhelmed by work and life. And if it goes anywhere (lol, probably not) rewatch Doctor Strange for... er, certain information and character voice.
