Backtagging: Yes.
Threadjacking: Yes by default, unless otherwise noted in thread for IC reasons
Fourthwalling: Sure, if your character knows stuff.
IC:
Romance: Why would anyone want to?! But, sure, develop weird obsessions or crushes. Have a curious hate-on for him. Dare to touch his spinny face or demand to see his old chess avatar to stroke his circuits. (I'm saying 'he', but wiki, like novelization, counts him as without gender, or 'it'.)
Violence: Sure. He has some shields, but a skilled warrior can get a strike in. Mess him up. But, if a program goes for close-range combat; he can torture and alter them (see circle of influence, below). His mobility depends on MCP's energy levels and avatar. The more powerful he is, the slower moving he becomes. At his most mobile, his chess master avatar has humanoid movement, but is by no means a warrior. MCP's aptitude is in strategy, not combat.
Reprogramming: He is a program. (I've seen conflicting data on whether MCP is a Basic or has truly adapted and changed beyond directives set by his users. My interpretation of Tron movie canon is that he does learn and grow beyond original programming. So, he was a Basic, then became something a little more.) His code is probably hacked together with redundant strings and bits of other programs he's assimilated. So, entirely possible he can be reprogrammed, but it will give one a headache or something to do it. Talk to me about the modifications.
Viruses, etc.: He does have defense shields, but they're 1980's level protection. What even is that? So, yeah, throw disks at him; take out his defenses; mess him up. Just, make sure I know the effects I should play.
ABILITIES (Or stuff I may ask permission to do):
Passive skills and abilities:
basic function: chess
upgraded function: system control and administration
strategic logic processes related to chess
learns and grows beyond original programming
is 4,215 times smarter than an average 1980's chess program
active abilities, used within MCP's circle of influence*:
steal data and/or functions from other systems/programs
alter data in other system/programs
transfer functions to another program
deploy defense shields for protection
torture and derezz other programs
move other programs by will
additional abilities within early 1980's ENCOM Mainframe:
infiltrate external systems (via i/o tower)
control transport beams
send power surges
command carrier, recognizers, guards, etc.
digitization
torture and derezz program by remote (only via carrier)
* circle of influence: in canon it is equal to the virtual area within the orbit of his shields, assuming MCP is tied-in to the ENCOM mainframe; OR those external systems and programs he is connected to via i/o tower. In other locations, where MCP is not connected to a system's power reserves, the area of the circle of influence is reduced proportional to MCP's own energy levels, to the point where, in his most mobile avatar, he requires direct contact to influence other programs.
