Info

The Bata Group is one of the world's leading manufacturers and retailers of quality footwear. A global concern with more than 32,000 employees, 21 production facilities, over 5,300 stores in more than 70 countries across the globe, Bata has been providing the best shoes at the best prices, backed by unparalleled service, for 125+ years. Since its founding on September 21, 1894, by Thomas Bata, the company has consistently demonstrated its commitment to responsible and innovative business models in the belief that capital is not just money, buildings or technology, but, more importantly, people, knowledge and core values. This visionary approach has enabled the company to meet each new challenge with creativity and foresight, while earning the trust and confidence of customers, employees and the communities in which it does business. Today, Bata's pioneering decentralized production system, featuring semi-autonomous regional facilities guided by three regional business units, allows the company to quickly adapt to changes in the marketplace and seize potential growth opportunities. It also continues Bata's long tradition of being sensitive to cultural and national differences, and enables it to proudly function as a local company in every country it serves. As we reflect on our time together at the Global Bata Children’s Program (BCP) Conference in Bangkok, we are reminded of how meaningful it is to come together with a shared purpose; learning from one another, sharing success stories, and celebrating the impact being created within local communities. Together, we continue strengthening a culture where the Bata Children’s Program is embraced across Bata Group. Marsha Doucette, Chair of the Global BCP Board and Bata Family member, shared words that continue to inspire and guide our work: “Being part of the Bata Family means carrying forward a legacy rooted in purpose. What I see in this community is a deep commitment to creating real change—one child, one step at a time. Together, we are shaping a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive.” Her message reflects what the Bata Children’s Program stands for: purpose, collaboration, and long-term commitment to local communities. Across teams and countries, we are creating impact together; sharing ideas, learning from one another, and celebrating the success stories that show the difference we can make as one community. The conference also reinforced an important opportunity ahead of us: continuing to strengthen our Bata culture so that BCP is championed throughout the organization. By supporting one another and sharing experiences, we can continue creating meaningful local impact. As Thomas Bata believed from the very beginning, a shoe could do more than protect your feet, it could create opportunity and bring people closer together. That spirit continues to guide the work being done through BCP today. Supporting communities has always been part of Bata’s DNA, and together, step by step, we carry this legacy forward. Let's continue to celebrate the positive impact we make in the communities around us!  #BataBCP #WeAreBata #CreatingImpactTogether

We are proud to be featured in a thoughtful conversation with Bangladesh Brand Forum exploring the evolving journey of Bata Group. For decades, Bata has been part of everyday life for millions of Bangladeshis, and as consumer expectations evolve, so does our commitment to staying relevant for every new generation. In this insightful conversation, our CEO, Panos Mytaros reflects on Bangladesh’s unique and dynamic consumer landscape, the importance of emotional equity in building enduring brands, and how Bata continues to evolve while staying true to its core purpose. The discussion also explored the importance of making Bata relevant and meaningful to consumers, being clear about what the brand stands for, simplifying our offerings, and staying true to our ethos of creating "unreasonably good shoes, made available to everyone, everywhere." Thank you to Bangladesh Brand Forum and Sajid Mahbub, MCIM for the thoughtful feature and engaging discussion. #WeAreBata #BrandLeadership #FootwearIndustry #RetailInnovation #BrandStrategy #BusinessGrowth

FROM NOSTALGIA TO RELEVANCE: INSIDE BATA'S QUIET REINVENTION In Bangladesh, a brand is rarely just a brand—it becomes part of everyday life, memory, and identity. Now, under the leadership of Global CEO Panos Mytaros, Bata Group enters a new chapter—one that doesn’t step away from its heritage but moves forward through it. On his first visit to Bangladesh, he sits down with Sajid Mahbub, MCIM, Group CEO & Executive Editor of Bangladesh Brand Forum, to explore what it takes to lead an iconic global brand in an era defined by Gen Z expectations, shifting consumer behavior, and a marketplace where legacy alone is no longer enough. At Bata Group, we are excited to announce the launch of the third year of our global partnership with SOS Children's Villages International. Last year, through our collaboration on the YouthCan! Program, we empowered over 3,500+ young people across six countries—Kenya, Zambia, Peru, Colombia, Thailand, and Bangladesh. This was made possible by the incredible support of more than 1,400+ Bata employee volunteers, who contributed over 7,500+ hours of their time. The partnership created meaningful opportunities for our employees to share their expertise by mentoring young people on key topics that strengthened their employability skills. It also opened pathways to internships and employment opportunities, while strengthening essential life skills in areas such as financial modelling, language literacy, cybersecurity, and digital safety. In addition, seed funding provided direct support to youth-led entrepreneurship programs, enabling learners to work on real-world business challenges. Mental health and psychosocial support were key priorities this year. We successfully integrated learning with sports to better engage young people, recognising that mental well-being is just as important as education. Building on this strong foundation, we are excited to further expand our initiatives with an enhanced approach and a broader, more impactful reach. A heartfelt thank you to all our employee volunteers for making this partnership such a success. We look forward to continuing this journey and deepening our impact together in 2026! Let’s make a difference, every step of the way!  #WeAreBata #BataBCP #SOSChildrensProgram #YouthCan

Q1 at Bata Group was a powerful reminder that the best way to understand a global business is to experience it locally. Over the past few months, our CEO Panos Mytaros has been on the ground across Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Bangladesh, Malaysia, the Czech Republic, India, and Indonesia, connecting with our people, consumers, and communities. Because real insight doesn’t come from reports, it comes from being there. From meeting the Honourable Prime Minister in Bangladesh to discuss industry growth and long-term investment, to engaging with students at National Institute of Fashion Technology on the future of design and retail, these were moments that mattered. In Chile, Indonesia, and Bolivia, there was strong momentum and alignment with local teams. In Indonesia, discussions focused on market strength and its role as a key production hub. In Bolivia, the standout was the energy of the market and the commitment of teams driving it forward. Panos also visited our highest turnover store in Prague, located in a landmark Bata building owned for over 100 years, and joined celebrations marking 150 years of Bata, honouring founder Tomáš Baťa and the legacy that continues to shape our future. This is what “One Team” looks like in action: global vision, grounded in local reality. #WeAreBata #LeadershipInAction #GlobalToLocal
