Very Quirky embossing and sugar skulls.

This beauty is Helena Reis's Dia de los Muertos from Sweet Pea Stamps, I think she is gorgeous! I used a Sizzix Tim Holtz cracked glass embossing folder with Coordinations paper sanded to reveal black. The Life is a Beautiful Ride paper is from a My Minds Eye chalkboard stack and it is matted onto a red sparkly square of card, and the paper behind is Papermania as far as I remember.
I coloured the digi with Promarkers, her hair is blue and it looks much darker in real life, I might have to darken it down.
I added black lace and some skull and crossbones ribbon to the bottom, and two gem flowers.
All of this is mounted on an 8" x 8" scalloped card blank by Cardcraft.

Hop on over to Quirky Crafts to see more like this.

She has crept into the following challenges:
Crafty Gals - any holiday day of the dead (Wed)
Cute card Thursday - anything goes
Addicted to Stamps - Make your mark (Wed/Fri)
Our Creative Corner - Mexican Moods (Sept 4th)

Awards:

Quirky CAS reminder time, with a cute doggie.

I can't resist a cute critter, and this Bassett Hound by Crafty Girl from our sponsor Stitchy Bear is the cutest new addition to the dog basket!
I coloured him with Promarkers, cut him out (still using my new Spellbinders Grand Labels 1 dies) and mounted him on a die cut panel which is embossed with Creative Expressions clouds and coloured with blue chalk.
The sentiment is die cut with an IO die set.

This card has snuggled into the following challenges:
Through the Craft Room Door - anything goes (Tues Jan 13th)
ABC - A for anything goes (15th Jan) 10 only
Pink Gems - something new (16th Jan)
Allsorts - new and cute (Sat 17th)
Cute Card Thursdays - Something new
Coffee Chocolate and Cards - no circles (Fri)
Creative Fingers - #62 anything goes (Fri)
Creative Card Crew - for a child (Jan)

This card is a copy of the one I made last week, except that I printed the two images on kraft card and coloured them with Prismacolor pencils this time. If you want to find out how cross this made me - read the previous post! Following some great tips by fellow WOYWWers Nikki C and Shaz in Oz I know there is a possible solution to the breaking leads, and that the splintering wood is due to quality of manufacturing! I need new pencils, different make I think.
Anyway, I die cut the panel and card out with my new Spellbinders Grand Labels 1 again, I am having fun with these. I love the end result, despite the Prismacolor pencil problems.
The images I used are Blue Tit 4 by IkeSart, and A Sign of Spring by Lil Diva both available from Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps.

This little bird has flown into the following challenges:
Divas by design - anything goes (Wed 14th)
Simon Says Wed - something new
Ike's Art World - something old (Prismacolors) Something new, dies and images) (Tues 20th)
Pan Pastels - clean and Simple (25th Jan)

Grafitti Max

I have been really lucky with various prize draws lately, one of them was Visible Image's facebook competition in which I won a character stamp, and I chose Max. I think he is pretty cool, and there are some other great characters so it was hard to choose. I used a Sizzix Tim Holtz embossing folder with Whitewash Cordination paper - I need a pad of this colour to make lots of walls! I decided to draw a grafitti sentiment on the wall with a bit more grafitti for effect, and I attached the panel to kraft card with some metal rivet style brads. Max is coloured with Promarkers and Trias. Max is an extremely good quality clear polymer stamp, I have rubber stamps that aren't as thick and deep as this and don't stamp as well, so I will be adding to my collection very soon. I am not happy with Max's hair yet, I need to watch some tutorials. I added some sequin waste (which looks a bit creased, and is the wrong side due to a patch of missing colour on the right side) to the card blank and some ribbon that coordinates with the Cordinations paper.

I have entered Max in the following challenges:
ABC challenge blog - K is for Kraft
Visible Image - Get stamping with your favourite stamps.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Well - I had an email from Crafters Companion which showed me three new stamps by Sheena Douglas, and wham - love at first sight!

Here is one of them, who could resist?

Stamped with Memento in Cocoa, coloured with Promarkers, edges inked with Cats Eye chalk ink pad, die cut with Spellbinders Nestabilities. The embossed tree is a Crafts Too embossing folder, ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons, and the sentiment is a Stampabilities stamp. Finally I added some Bling Bling gems to the cow's crown.

Challenges entered:
Sir Stampalot April Challenge: Happy Birthday (and birthday blog hop)

Quirky Crafts challenge time again

The challenge set by Diane is Flourishes and Embossing, and our sponsor is Robyn's Fetish.
This gorgeous image from our sponsor is called Flights of Fancy, and I printed it on acetate then die cut it and a piece of patterned glitter card and joined the two with star eyelets. I cut a Nesties large label and used a Sizzix embossing folder to emboss the Black Magic Cordinations paper, which I then sanded. That was mounted on a rectangle of embossed silver card and metallic blue card blank I folded myself. I die cut flourishes with Sizzlets, and punched the corners of the silver card with a Kreaxions punch. I haven't added a sentiment yet.
Here is Sooty after yet another blood test sporting a green bandage and shaved tummy from the scans, poor thing.
