It’s rewarding to see how high-quality geophysical data, when integrated with the geological context of a project, can improve targeting and reduce uncertainty in exploration programs.“ Drilling deeper: • Based in Western Australia, where he also completed his BSc in Exploration Geophysics at Curtin University, Jack is focused on supporting Australia-based clients in getting the most value out of their data. This means delivering high-quality, reliable data that’s set up to generate the best possible outcomes for targeting in DORA, our AI prospectivity mapping software. • Though Jack notes multiple ways of how AI positively complements his expertise, there’s one area in particular he sees as having a tangible benefit. “An important way I leverage AI in my day-to-day work is by using it to help generate Python scripts that automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency. I’m not a professional programmer, so AI has been really valuable in lowering the barrier to creating useful tools quickly.” • Ultimately, Jack sees AI as a practical productivity tool. And the applications for geoscientists are tangible. He points out that the real advantage in using this technology is improving workflows and making everyday tasks more efficient — something that’s top of mind for geoscientists like him. • Having seen the impacts of technology in mineral exploration firsthand, Jack encourages the industry to embrace new technology and approaches to improve outcomes. He views these new tools as one of many a geoscientist can draw on, not a replacement of their expertise.
