What's the biggest driver of Canada's future competitiveness? We often focus on the industries shaping the future economy. But their success ultimately depends on people with the skills to build, operate, adapt and innovate. As market needs evolve, talent is becoming an increasingly important asset. In our latest article, our Chief Economist Robert Lavigne explores why investing in people remains essential to building a strong economy in a more volatile world: https://lnkd.in/g7v6s4Zc

Building a leading Private Equity platform requires multiple ways to access opportunity. As OMERS Private Equity continues to expand its external funds program, we are pleased to welcome Adam Buzanis as Managing Director, Head of Funds. Adam brings deep experience across global private markets, including primary funds, co-investments and secondaries. He will lead the continued development of our external Private Equity funds strategy, helping deepen relationships with high-quality managers and expand co-investment opportunities across our portfolio. His appointment reflects the next stage in the evolution of OMERS Private Equity. Alongside our direct investing capabilities, the funds program broadens how we access private markets, strengthens global relationships and creates greater flexibility in how we deploy capital over time. We look forward to the perspective and expertise Adam will bring as we continue building a more connected and globally diversified platform for OMERS members.

Private capital is often measured in transactions, but its foundation is relationships. We’re pleased to see Lane McDonald, Managing Director, Operations & Strategy at OMERS Private Equity and Co-Founder of SWIPE (Senior Women in Private Equity) Network, join fellow Co-Founder Julia Boyd, Kristine Robinson, Founder of Women in Private Capital Canada, and Dani Lipkin of the TMX Group for a market open celebrating the contributions of women in private capital. By creating opportunities for women across Canada and around the world to connect, collaborate and support one another, SWIPE and WPCC are helping strengthen the relationships that drive value creation across the private capital ecosystem.

Not all professional relationships are built in meeting rooms. At our third annual summer golf and networking event, hosted by our Women @ Work Employee Resource Group in partnership with Women in Investments and Women in Technology, more than 240 colleagues came together to connect in a different way. Between impressive drives and conversations that might not have happened otherwise, new relationships were formed across teams and functions. The afternoon showed the value of stepping outside of our usual routines to build community, support one another and foster a stronger sense of belonging.

Strong partnerships are what make long-term community impact possible. Our work with the Children's Aid Foundation of Canada is rooted in that belief. As our President & CEO Blake Hutcheson said: “We are behind this cause.” In recent months, our colleagues have taken that commitment beyond words. We’ve volunteered at the Stand Up for Kids luncheon, joined the Foundation’s TMX market close, hosted an internal panel to spread awareness of the cause and celebrated Blake as co-chair of their annual gala, Teddy Bear Affair. Our shared goal of investing for the long-term ensures our local communities have a stable future to rely on. Thank you to those helping drive this forward.

In uncertain times, predictability has become one of the most valuable returns. Our latest research shows that defined benefit pensions do more than just support retirement income. They provide certainty; helping our members plan for the future with confidence, manage stress and build financial resilience. Together, these outcomes are known as the stability dividend. In a recent op ed for Benefits and Pensions Monitor, our Chief Pension Officer, Celine Chiovitti, explains why the stability dividend is taking on greater relevance today: https://lnkd.in/gN66Gg2h
