  • By Monday afternoon, the same project has usually been described four different ways. There's the version the account lead gives in the status meeting. The version buried in a project management tool. The version sitting in the client's inbox. And the version the designer actually doing the work would give you. None of them are wrong, exactly. But the gap between them is where the surprises come from: the deadline nobody flagged, the scope that quietly moved, the hours already spent. One place, updated once, that the finance, account, creative, and leadership teams all work from. That's the whole idea. #agencyops #creativeagency #projectmanagement #functionpoint

  • The six stages of agency month-end, as experienced by Finance: > One: cautious optimism. We're going to close clean this time. > Two: the realisation that four projects closed last week and the time entries are missing. > Three: a friendly Slack. Then a less friendly one. > Four: twenty minutes that feel like detective work. > Five: the spreadsheet. Then the corrected spreadsheet. Then the one marked FINAL that actually is. > Six: done. See you next month. If you're in agency finance and this is accurate, tag a PM. It's probably their fault. #agencyfinance #agencylife #creativeagency #functionpoint

  • One of the questions we hear often is: "How do I know whether my team's actually at capacity... or if everyone's just had a busy week?" Most agency leaders have a pretty good instinct. What they usually don't have is proof. 👀Who's been at capacity for a month? 👀Who's waiting on feedback? 👀Who's buried in revisions? 👀Who's ready for another project but nobody knows it? Those are very different conversations. A workload view that combines capacity, scheduled work, and actual hours tells a very different story than gut instinct. Less guessing = Fewer bottlenecks. Planning gets a lot easier when your workload isn't based on whoever sounded busiest in Monday's meeting. → https://hubs.li/Q04t0v5L0 #resourcemanagement #agencyops #projectmanagement #functionpoint #creativeagency

“Quick favours” have a funny way of becoming part of the job. Our Innovation Manager, Talia Palermo, joined Audrey Kwan on "It’s Never Just a Project Management Problem" to discuss what happens when those small asks add up and why getting scope right from the start matters more than most agencies realize. It’s also a big part of why Function Point exists: to give agencies a clearer view of the work while it’s happening, before all those “quick” extras turn into hours nobody planned for. A great conversation for anyone who’s ever looked back at a project and wondered where all those extra hours came from! Thanks for having our very talented Talia on, Audrey! We loved this conversation.

When I ran our agency, there was a stretch where we said yes to every "quick favor" a client asked for. A quick call that somehow turned into an hour of free strategy, all good. One more round of revisions, no big deal. Throwing in one more thing because it was easier than having the scope conversation. I didn't clock it as over-servicing at the time. It just felt like being a good partner. Talia Palermo, innovation manager at Function Point, talks to agency owners about this constantly, and she sees the same pattern across many. 56% of agencies say they don't have enough information at the start of a project to scope it properly. That gap is where the "quick favor" starts. Without a clear scope, there's nothing to measure the extra hours against, so it just quietly becomes the norm. • Nobody starts an agency dreaming about internal reporting. But eventually... > Someone has to update the status report. > Someone has to make the deck. > Someone has to summarize the meeting. > Someone has to summarize the meeting about the meeting. One task doesn't seem like much, but it's the pile-up that gets expensive. What's the one admin task you wish would disappear? #agencyops #agencylife #creativeagency #projectmanagement #functionpoint

One of the things we hear most from agency owners who switch to Function Point:    🎙️"I finally feel like I'm running the business instead of reacting to it."    That shift happens when the information you need: ✅ Project budgets ✅ Team utilization ✅ Outstanding invoices ✅ Forecasting for future work ✅ and so much more! Stops living in five different places and starts living in one!    Less chasing. Less guessing. More time doing the work that actually grows the agency.    If that sounds like the version of your job you actually want, we'd love to show you around! 👉https://hubs.li/Q04kplvY0     #AgencyOwner #AgencyGrowth #FunctionPoint #CreativeAgency

  • Running an experiential marketing agency means no two projects look the same and every missed detail costs you. For Monica Gomez, Founder & CEO of The Concierge Club, the breaking point wasn't a single disaster 👉 It was the slow accumulation of friction: time tracked in Toggl, budgets cobbled together in Excel, estimates assembled file by file, and scope creep that only surfaced at reconciliation. 🎙️"When you're reconciling, it's like, oh my God, we were over by 20 hours. But we never went back to the client to flag it." That's the risk of fragmented tools. Not one big failure, just a hundred small ones that quietly eat your margin. When The Concierge Club moved to Function Point, the shift wasn't dramatic. It was immediate clarity. Budget management and time tracking in one place. Real-time visibility into hours against budget. Reports they could actually put in front of clients. 🎙️"When a client pushes back on hours, you can very easily download a report and they can see we're not just making these up. We have data." That's what good infrastructure does. It turns gut feeling into evidence. And it compounds, the longer you track, the sharper your estimates get. • The agencies holding steady right now have something in common.    It's not that they're bigger, or better staffed, or working with better clients.    They're just more connected.  🔗Connected tools. 🔗Connected data. 🔗Estimates that flow into time tracking. 🔗Time tracking that flows into invoicing. 🔗Reports that don't require a half-day to pull together.  🔥46% of agencies lost revenue last year. The ones that didn't weren't luckier; they had clearer visibility and made better calls because of it.    That's the advantage of running an integrated agency management platform 👉Connectivity isn't a feature. It's a competitive advantage. If you're curious what a fully connected agency looks like in practice, Function Point is worth 30 minutes of your time!⏰https://hubs.li/Q04kpFZb0   #AgencyManagement #CreativeIndustry #FunctionPoint #AgencyGrowth
