(Le français suit) Healthy watersheds start with healthy landscapes. By protecting and caring for natural areas upstream, we help keep Edmonton's source water clean while supporting wildlife and building resilience for the future. This year, volunteers and interns helped control invasive weeds at Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary and Wagner Natural Area, two important conservation sites in the Upper North Saskatchewan River Basin. Stewardship activities like these help forests, wetlands, and grasslands function as they should, supporting the natural processes that filter water, provide habitat for wildlife, and strengthen watershed health. Thank you to EPCOR for supporting this work through its investment in NCC's internship program and volunteer stewardship events. Together, we're helping conserve the landscapes that protect Edmonton's source water while building stronger ecosystems and more resilient communities.

Partnering with the Nature Conservancy of Canada/Conservation de la nature Canada helps protect vital water sources and the land and ecosystems that support them. Earlier this summer, a group of EPCOR volunteers participated in "Thistle Be Fun," a stewardship event focused on removing invasive thistle plants from the Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary. The experience gave employees a chance to learn about the natural areas around them, contribute to local conservation efforts and connect with each other and the community. It was also a reminder that caring for local ecosystems starts with people coming together to learn, roll up their sleeves and leave a place better than they found it. #Sustainability #CommunityInvestment #EnvironmentalStewardship #Volunteerism #TeamEPCOR

Supporting our communities is about more than the services we provide. It's about showing up for our neighbors when it matters most. Recently, EPCOR USA interns partnered with Valley of the Sun United Way to assemble 2,500 heat relief kits for community members facing Arizona's extreme summer temperatures. These kits provide essential resources to help people stay safe and healthy during the hottest months of the year. We're proud to support initiatives that strengthen the communities we serve and grateful to everyone who dedicated their time and energy to making this effort a success. Together, small acts of service can create a lasting impact. #EPCORCares #UnitedWay #TeamEPCOR

How far into the future should a water utility plan?  In Arizona, new developments in many metropolitan areas must demonstrate a 100-year assured water supply before they can move forward. That's one example of the long-term planning that helps support reliable water service as communities grow.  This week, EPCOR USA Water Resources Manager Victoria Okula Samwick joined industry leaders at the NARUC Summer Policy Summit to discuss water resources, conservation and long-term planning across the West.  The conversation reinforced something we think about every day: reliable water service starts long before anyone turns on a tap.

It wouldn’t be summer in Edmonton without KDays, and they’re officially underway! Thank you to We Are YEG Metro and Explore Edmonton Corporation for an amazing reception to kick things off. EPCOR was pleased to be the presenting sponsor, joining leaders from government, business and the community for an evening that celebrated Edmonton and the future we can shape together. The Aquatic Circus theme was a captivating way to highlight the essential role water plays in supporting our quality of life, our economy and what binds us together. Here's to another great KDays and the innovation and collaboration that continue to move Edmonton and Alberta forward. #KDays #YEG #Edmonton #Alberta #CommunityBuilding

This East Coaster was sent to Halifax to represent, EPCOR that is, in receiving the National Community Champion Award from United Way at their annual conference in Nova Scotia. I’m not one to love the spotlight but happy to be taking one for the team. Raising $9.8 million for the United Way since 1990 is a clear indication that many EPCOR hands make light work. To our friends at United Way, thanks for nominating us. The work you do in the Edmonton Capital region inspires us to do our part too. EPCOR

Team EPCOR spent the afternoon at the Enoch Cree Nation Pow-wow today. This has become an annual tradition for our group. Each year we share the experience with new team members and each of us takes something different away from the event every time. Today, I was inspired by the chance to connect with friends old and new, and by everyone’s resolve to stick it out through a flash rain and wind storm that came just after the Grand Entry (followed by blue skies and sun, of course!). Congratulations to Chief Cody Thomas, council and the Pow-wow committee on a successful event again in 2026. We are privileged to support, attend and learn at the event again this year!
