EllisDon joined partners and community leaders to celebrate groundbreaking at 140 Merton Street, now named Peyakôskân (One Family), a landmark development that will deliver long-term, affordable housing for seniors, with a focus on Indigenous Elders. Led by Missanabie Cree First Nation, the project represents an important step forward in advancing Indigenous-led housing through Toronto’s Housing Now initiative. “We are thrilled to be part of the development and construction of Peyakôskân,” said Nick Gefucia, SVP Affordable Housing at EllisDon Community Builders. “This project demonstrates that affordable housing can deliver units at scale while reflecting the identities, traditions and needs of the community it serves." Designed to support dignity, cultural connection, and community, the development will bring 294 new homes alongside dedicated spaces that celebrate indigeneity. More than 20 years ago, Phil Jones joined EllisDon as an intern. Today, he’s been recognized with a Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Award of Merit. Now VP of Engineering and Logistics, Phil was honoured for his leadership as Chair of the CSA Z248 Committee, helping guide updates to Canada’s tower crane standard through evolving regulations and differing provincial requirements. The outcome is a more consistent, safety-focused standard shaped through collaboration across industry, regulators, and partners. Congratulations, Phil, on this well-earned recognition.
