In Lockleaze, Bristol, The Vench has been a community cornerstone for more than 50 years - a place where generations of children have played, learned, and made memories. Now, it’s home to something new: a sustainable café built from converted shipping containers! ☕ After volunteering at The Vench through our annual Day of Giving, our teammate Jon Nicholls stayed connected and wanted to keep supporting the incredible work happening there. Together with The Vench team, our Bristol colleagues helped bring the café to life - bringing expertise across design, planning, project management, construction management, sustainability, and grant support. The result is so much more than a café! It’s a welcoming space that creates opportunities for skills development, hospitality training, and community connection - while helping reinvest back into the programmes that support local young people. How we work matters just as much as what we work on (no matter how impressive our CRM pipelines 🤓). Our teams embraced this reminder during Mental Health Awareness Month, signing up for e-learning modules, accessing online resources, and attending a workshop offering practical tips and tools. When our people feel supported, heard, and able to show up as themselves, everything else gets a little better too. It’s also part of why we’re building more intentional spaces for growth and learning, where our people can move at their own pace and actually enjoy the process. No pressure 🙂↔️! With that comes a responsibility to take care of our planet and communities, and to make choices that hold up over time. One of the ways we do that is our annual Day of Giving. We hit pause on business as usual. Our offices close, our inboxes wait, and we go out in our communities to do something hands-on (and usually a little messy). Last year, thousands of us supported over 90 organisations, contributing over 8,000 hours of time, energy, and good vibes 😎🪴🫶 Whether it’s a beach cleanup, biking instead of driving, or just getting outside, how are you showing our planet a little love today?
