Wolverine and Captain Marvel

 

Krakoa is another great location and concept that I hope to see on the big screen one of these days. Maybe once Marvel's X-Men are up and running in the movies we will get an adaptation of Giant Size X-Men #1.

These two first met in an Shazam Family/X-Men team up in STF #801.  

Doctor Who Vs. Chronos

 

It's only natural that a Time Lord would find himself in conflict with a time-based villain.  I can't imagine he would have a high opinion of someone that uses control of the timestream for personal gain.  At least they could bond over their fondness for colorful attire.

The Vision Vs. Mongul

 

For The Man Who Has Everything by Alan Moore is one of my favorite Superman tales.  The fact that it was illustrated by Moore's Watchmen collaborator Dave Gibbons makes it even better.  I also quite enjoyed the adaptation of the story in Justice League Unlimited as well.  It was fun to put an STF spin on the story here.

Green Lantern and Photon

 

The teaser trailer for The Marvels leaned a bit on the goofy side, but I am interested to see more.  Iman Vellani was enjoyable in Ms. Marvel, so it will be interesting to see her grow as a hero here.  Mostly I want to see the further development of Monica Rambeau into Photon.  I've followed the character since her very first appearance and I look forward to seeing her in full control of her powers. 

Justice League of America and Guardians of the Galaxy in "Cross-Time Favor!"

 

Another Two-Part Epic begins here! I have not heard any word on whether the Original Guardians of the Galaxy will show up again in James Gunn's third volume of the movie series, but since it will be his last outing for Marvel, I hope he finds a way to include them.  Now, which JLA enemy have they shown up on this cover to help defeat?  Make sure you come back tomorrow to find out!

Hawkeye and Mary Marvel

 

Another odd pairing here, but I liked how the poses fit together and think that this scenario would make for an interesting tale.  And hey, it's not like we haven't seen Hawkeye mentoring young brunettes in archery before.

Plastic Man and Doctor Who

 

It might be a while before we see Plastic Man in the big screen, but he might be a good candidate for an animated series or at least one of those DC Showcase shorts.  I enjoyed his appearances on Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and even remembering liking his original cartoon from when I was a kid, as cheesy as it may have been.

Doctor Who and The Silver Surfer in: "Empire, Interrupted!"

 

With so much talk about The Fantastic Four coming to the MCU, I'm surprised that we have not heard a peep about when the Silver Surfer is set to appear.  He is one of the only big silver age characters that they still have to bring into the fold.   I know Marvel and Keanu Reeves have been trying to find a way to work together, and I think he's be a pretty good fit for Norrin Radd.

Doctor Who and Dr. Manhattan

 

If there's one person that's not intimidated by beings in possession of nearly unlimited power, it's Doctor Who.  Dr. Manhattan would probably appreciate meeting someone that could understand his unique perspective on time and space.  Yes, I think that these to would get along famously.

Elongated Man and Moon Knight (Vs. Eclipso)

I've had a few requests for Moon Knight to face off against Eclipso, including Blog Patron Bob Greenwade, and I figured that I'd throw that conflict into the middle of STF's greatest fighting team.  I imagine that the events of this issue will have repercussions down the line.

This is the Fifth appearance of the MK/EM team - They faced an angry underworld in STF #2831,  Psycho Pirate turned them against each other in STF #2732, Ralph came to the rescue in STF #2518, and they first started working together in STF #2169...

Adam Strange and Doctor Strange (Vs. Hugo Strange)

I was disappointed that Adam Strange never got the chance to become closer to his comic book version before Krypton was cancelled.  He may still get a chance to shine though - HBO Max is planning a Strange Adventures TV series, and I imagine the character will be a part of that.  I am also interested in the upcoming Adam Strange comic series by Tom King, Mitch Gerads and Doc Shaner.

This is the fourth appearance of the Strange boys on the blog.  They were last seen forced to do penance in STF #2649, before that, they were trying to escape from Limbo in STF #2146, and they were first revealed to be brothers in STF #370...

Power Man & Iron Fist and Doctor Who

The Netflix Marvel shows ended just when things were getting good.  All the pieces were in place for the Daughters of the Dragon to formally join forces.  Iron Fist and Power Man were both at crossroads, and I was ready for them to get together to form Heroes for Hire.  Alas, it will be a year or two before Marvel can start using them in the MCU.  Hopefully once that time passes, they will find a way to realize the still unfulfilled potential of these characters, either in the movies or on Disney+.

Green Lantern and Jack of Hearts in: "Hidden Homeworld"

So, on Arrow, we have recently learned that John Diggle's father was not such a nice guy, and his step father who helped to raise him and with whom he had been feuding had been covering for John's Father to protect his memory and spare John some pain.  His step father has the last name Stewart.  So how long until John takes his uncle's last name to finally become John Stewart?  After the season finale this week, they will only have next seasons 10 episodes before the series ends... I'm guessing they will wait right until the end.  Will it just be an epilogue moment - or could it lead to a John Stewart Green Lantern show?  Probably too big a budget for the CW, but that would be cool to see!

Doctor Who and Green Lantern

The artwork of Dave Gibbons exploded in popularity when Watchmen hit the stands, but the first time he made an impression with me was his work on Green Lantern.  His depictions of Hal Jordan, John Stewart and the extended cast of the title looked great to me, his clean lines gave everything a modern feel.  I was a big fan of his back up tales as well, featuring alien GL's in solo adventures.

These two first met in STF #1911...

Mr. Fantastic Vs. Eclipso

Eclipso is another one of those great DC villains in that he works well as an antagonist for just about any character that you pit him against.  Heck, he even works when he is battling himself, as his Bruce Gordon side tries to hold back the evil that he has within.  I'm surprised that we have not seen a live action version in one form or another yet.

Batman Vs. Kang

Kang is the next Avengers villain that I really want to see on the big screen.  His time travelling shenanigans could make for a real corker of a story and allow the filmmakers to explore some other eras in the Marvel Universe.  A lot of hints are pointing to altering the timeline as a part of the events of the upcoming Avengers 4, though - I don't know if the movie makers will want to go to that well twice in a row.

The Junkyard Gang

Sure, it's easy to become a superhero if you are a playboy millionaire - but I am more impressed with those who have chosen such a path without those kinds of vast resources.  I thought it might be fun to have a group that consisted of heroes that wage their war on injustice despite coming from the opposite side of the financial spectrum.  Don't expect a fancy headquarters - but do expect action!

Batman and The Shroud

This is another pairing that I never got around to in my Brave and The Bold: the Lost Issues days, but had always meant to.  Like Moon Knight, The Shroud began as a Batman-type in the Marvel Universe, but soon found his own niche.  I always got a kick out of his mysterious looking cloak, and I enjoyed when he recently surfaced in the pages of Daredevil.

Booster Gold and Doctor Who (Part Two)

I'm looking forward to this year's Docter Who Christmas Special, they ar often my favorite episodes of the season.  This one looks to introduce the 13th Doctor, Jodie Whittaker.  I haven't hear anything about a new companion, though - I wonder if it wll be a male partner since they are going with a female Doctor Who for the first time.  Either way, the dynamic between the two should be different from what viewers have seen before.

Green Arrow and Wolverine

I get a kick out of reading old Green Arrow tales with his original costume and Speedy as a sidekick.  Still, it's pretty obvious why he needed a revamp to the leather suited bearded Ollie Queen that we know today.  Pretty much all of those plots could have been interchangeable with those that Batman and Robin took part in.  They had some great artwork and fun stories, but other than the archery gimmick, were not very unique. I'm glad the battling bowman eventually found his own voice.
