Letting go of imperfection

Thouigh I measured the width of candles, and then used a calculator to figure shrinkage, then tried to make the cups the right size, they were too large! So I tried to sell this nice candlestand this way, using various things to hold the candles in place...but if it's not perfect, why keep apologizing?

So it had the hammer treatment today.  Time to let go of a nice idea which I spent hours on, and it actually looked pretty nice...but why keep it around if it's not that useable?  Indeed.  There are more things waiting to be made, to be used, to be treasured.  This isn't what I intended, so it is destroyed.

I'm glad I got these shots of how she was placed, because I think that contributed to the crack, at a thinner spot in the construction which was very close to the heat.  Just my thought at this time, anyway.  I reinforced the entire base of the mask where it meets the wall, but that part of the jaw was a bit heavier on the other side than on this one.

And here she is in all her glory, imperfect as it is.

You can see the crack running almost through the whole jaw, from the right side of the mouth to the base of the mask.  There's a thin piece of glaze still holding it together, but it goes through to the inside all the way through the wall.

Dormouse Teapot

Here's a teapot which holds 4-1/2 cups of liquid, and a mouse on top who is very sleepy.  Check out his effort to keep one eye open.

I actually pulled this handle, and did all the traditional things for a lid which is seated well inside the top so the little mouse won't fall when you're pouring your tea.

It has imperfections.  I've decided to like them.

Glaze is white satin inside, and Mexico outside.
