This journal is «MOSTLY LOCKED»; however, you can read my craft posts.

Please comment before adding me; I'll be more likely to add you back. You can sign my guestbook and tell me a bit about yourself!

If you only want me for my junk, here they are:

Years ago, I made a towel holder, and it was time to replace it. I had also used a hair elastic to hold the towel, which worked, but it would sometimes twist and tangle and become a nuisance. I told myself I'd get a cheap bangle bracelet to replace the elastic and kept forgetting until a recent craft store trip, where I found a metal ring. The downside to this is it's somewhat heavy; I had to reinforce my stitching to hold the ring securely.

This is 100% cotton yarn with no pattern. I winged it: With a foundation chain that looked long enough, I worked a row of single crochet up and down the chain, as though making an oval. Then I switched colors and made half-double crochets, followed by another color change and reverse crab stitches.

☝️Remember to leave a button hole, because I did not and had to cheat it by manipulating the foundation chain and finding a smaller button.

I’ve only embroidered text once, and it was using actual cross-stitches. I took this apart four times, all for different reasons.🙄

It’s the best quite from Jurassic Park, a film my mom’s a fan of and watches pretty much whenever it’s on TV. This was for her birthday. (I barely finished in time, but it was better than my usual timing. I impressed myself.)

After the fact, I remembered that the logo is a black figure on a red background, but I think it would’ve been too much red.

My boy Jordy is a big boi, so cat collars look a wee too small and may not even fit him, so I took it upon myself to make him something festive for Christmas and then something a little fancy-ish for New Year's.

He was thrilled, don't let his expression fool you.

I also made one for Kateri, but I finished it after Christmas. It was made following this tutorial by Pawpawcrochets.

Both of Jordy's collars are probably made with medium weight mixed acrylic yarn. Nameless scraps I had on hand. They're inspired by collars I'd seen on Pinterest and browsing Google, but I didn't follow any patterns.

Way back when, the no-sew fleece blankets took off in popularity. I made this one with a rose-printed fleece that I think was remnants; I know it wasn't a kit. I cut it myself. Poorly.

Well, years of use and then many times of rolling over the fringe and stretching out the fleece, I finally got it in my head that I could just crochet around the edges. I actually cut it pretty square! Then I had to order a rotary cutter with a special blade that cuts in increments, making holes for me to crochet around.

It took a while to cut, then it took a while to crochet, because I wasn't sure I liked the color I'd chosen. To make it more cohesive, I added the same green in the body of the blanket and tied them. There's six or so, kinda evenly spaced.

I definitely prefer this to the fringe, which I've untied and kept to reuse as stuffing.

Thanksgiving weekend, I started planning a couple outside decorations for winter and planned to start bringing out Christmas decorations.

But I got sick.

My family had cut back some trees in the backyard and piled up pine boughs for me to use, but they ended up just sitting while I recovered. It took me a while before I felt well and energetic enough to do anything at all, but once I felt like it, I got to it and even cut some more branches to use.

Turns out I'm a bit allergic to pine. My hands were so itchy, and I still have cuts from the needles, which I'd've thought they'd heal by now...
