My Creative Space

February 10, 2011

Still on the granny squares for Sarah London. This week I’m showing you my plonking spot. Where I plonk myself in the evening after the kitchen is tidy, the school lunches are made and the hubby is snoring on the other couch.

That’s my Creative Space, in front of the T.V., feet up on the ottoman (which folds out to make a spare sleepover mattress), ipad, wool close by, heat pack and the red rubber ball thingie is to massage my foot.

I keep thinking I am done and should send them off to Sarah, but then I think of another colour combo and start another one. They are a bit addictive. 🙂

Pop by Kirsty’s new space on the web to see the other Creative Spaces.

My Creative Space

February 3, 2011

This week it’s all about granny squares. I am getting some lovely squares ready to send off to Sarah London’s Crochet-a-Rainbow . I found out about this by reading Pip’s blog which is cool, cuz she is the one that taught me how to do granny squares (via her online video tutorials) in the first place. The eldest child is doing some too.

I’ve also prettied up my blog for the New Year.

Nice to be back amongst you creative peeps.

I’ve tried to upload this three times blogging from Word on my computer. Each time it tells me it has been published. When I come to the blog to check and in the Admin Panel, it’s not here at all. Weird.

Why can’t I ever think of cool blog titles?

January 31, 2011

So, I have been crafting…… just not blogging much.

But I did want to show you all this great drawing the middle child did. As part of her Year 8 VCD class (Visual Communication and Design) they had to draw a 2 point perspective view of a street or city shopping precinct.

Now she reads all the blogs that I read – her uber favouritest is Ric-Rac. Anyway, no surprises to see her perfect shopping precinct.

Nikki, Jodie and Pip – this blog post is for you.

Softies for Mirabel Final Group Shot

November 27, 2010

All our little contributions were delivered to Meet Me At Mikes today.

Here’s a photo:

We all had lots of fun making them and will sign up again next year!

My Creative Space

October 14, 2010

I was telling someone earlier that my creative space has been invaded by the girls. So, it is not just “MY” space anymore. It’s a shared space. A shared little space. Which bugs me when things aren’t put back in “MY” way. BUT, space invaders or not, truth be told, I’d rather them here, at home, in “MY” space messing around making softies (for the Mirabel Foundation) than anywhere else…

I’ll make a separate post with the whole softie tribe, once they are finished.

But here’s what I’ve been working on today:

Sorry for the fuzzy photos, I just used my phone camera.

Go invade Kirsty’s space here, just make sure you put everything back where it belongs if you start messing around there! Grrr.

Softies for Mirabel

Softies for Mirabel – Sign up is open – go to Meet Me At Mikes

I made this Softie today. The girls are working on their own softies and I have a couple more ideas bouncing around my head.

SoftiesForMirabel01

I’ll post more photo’s as other softies are completed.

Yay, I finished another blanket. This is for youngest. I think I will edge it. Yes, but first I will have to learn how…..

Li’l Bit

August 7, 2010

Middle child wants me to put this up on my blog. It’s an owl she* made from a pattern in a Softies book she has.

*I had to help her as it was a bit tricky in places.

Anyway, it’s name is Li’l Bit, cuz she’s a little bit crooked and wonky in places. The owl that is, although ….. aren’t we all a little bit wonky in places?

My (late) Creative Space…

July 23, 2010

…..is a bit of a hovel.

So I started tidying. My sewing space is in the Laundry and there’s a lot going on in there. Washing for 5 bodies means constant loads on the go. And with the Melbourne weather being what it is at the moment, the Laundry/Sewing Room is also the Drying Room. And the Chest Freezer is in there too. You remember the Chest Freezer? It doubles as my cutting table.

I won’t show you what the fabric stash looked like beforehand, but here it is now:

I still have to get to the Sewing Table. It looks like this, at present (cringing at the thought of showing you this):

Eeek!

If you need me I’ll be in the Laundry/Sewing/Drying Room.

Skip over to Kirsty’s to see other (cleaner?) Creative Spaces.

Finished!!!!!

I finished it. It looks a bit wonky in this photo, I think that’s just cuz of the angle that I took the pic.

I am so freakin proud of myself. And it’s all because of Pip and her terrific video tutorials.
