Seeing Europe’s energy infrastructure firsthand is invaluable. Last week, we spent two days in Zeebrugge visiting two of our members: Fluxys’ LNG Terminal and the Zeepipe Terminal JV, operated by Gassco AS. These visits offered an excellent opportunity to exchange views with the teams behind these strategic facilities, gain deeper insight into their day-to-day operations, and discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping Europe’s energy landscape. These sites demonstrate the strength of Europe’s integrated gas infrastructure. The Zeebrugge LNG Terminal connects Europe to global LNG markets, enhancing diversification and flexibility, while the Zeepipe Terminal plays a key role in receiving Norwegian gas and ensuring its reliable transport into the European network. Together, they showcase how complementary infrastructure strengthens Europe’s energy security and resilience. As our energy system continues to evolve, this infrastructure is also well positioned to support the transition towards renewable and low-carbon molecules. Happy to have hosted an international delegation as part of the Exchange of Expertise on Green Hydrogen, organised by EGMONT - Education & Training and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Belgium. 🌍 Together, Gilles Suply, Laurent Lambaere and Frank Bernaerts shared insights into Fluxys' hydrogen activities and ambitions and welcomed participants for a visit of the H₂ Backbone project currently under construction between Zelzate and Kallo.
