🥇 They did it. Gold medal at the American Solar Challenge! After eight intense days on American roads, the Innoptus Solar Team has won the 2026 Electrek American Solar Challenge, finishing ahead of teams from Delft University of Technology and ETS. For the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) students, this victory is more than a race win. It marks their first participation in the American Solar Challenge and adds a new chapter to an already remarkable journey in solar mobility. According to the team, it also means they have now raced on every continent that hosts a major solar car competition. End of Stage 2, and we’re now more than halfway through the Electrek American Solar Challenge. Today was all about putting our strategy to the test. We navigated changing cloud conditions and a variety of loop configurations, adapting our approach throughout the day. In total, we completed three extended loops and two short loops, covering 592 km (378 mi) today. With more than half the challenge behind us, the focus now is simple: stay calm, stay consistent, and avoid mistakes. After a long but incredibly rewarding day, we’re getting some well-earned rest before taking on another day tomorrow. ☀️🚗 📷 Geert Vanden Wijngaert

What a start! 🚗☀️ DAY ONE complete for the Innoptus Solar Team in the Electrek American Solar Challenge. 🔌#CleanGrid : une collaboration au service de la qualité des réseaux électriques - Le projet #CleanGrid arrive à son terme avec une ambition claire : limiter, voire éliminer les perturbations électriques liées à l’électronique de puissance, notamment celles générées par les électrolyseurs, afin d’améliorer durablement la qualité de la tension sur les réseaux, tout en gardant un coût limité et contenu de ce convertisseur. 👉 Grâce au développement d’une solution innovante de conversion de puissance, le consortium a démontré qu’il est possible de réduire fortement ces perturbations, tout en garantissant performance et efficacité des installations. Ce jeudi 2 juillet, Laborelec, entité d'ENGIE Research & Innovation, accueillait les partenaires du projet à l’occasion de la réunion de clôture, suivie d’une visite des fonctionnalités du démonstrateur mis en place pour tester la solution développée.
