As the Cyber Resilience Act moves from policy to implementation, shared practices and interoperable approaches will matter as much as the regulation itself. At the Global Digital Collaboration Conference in Geneva, the Eclipse Foundation joins ETSI and W3C in a session on 2 September covering secure-by-design development, open source governance, vulnerability management, SBOMs, and conformity assessment readiness. The State of Open Source in the Global South report shows how strongly developers link open source to innovation, economic growth, and skills development. The webinar “Unveiling the State of OSS in the Global South” showcased what this looks like in practice: 👩💻 How open source is shaping careers and communities 🚨 The barriers developers still face 🔍 Where their experiences align with, or challenge, the data 👉 Watch the discussion: https://hubs.la/Q04g338r0 👉 Discover more stories from the Global South: https://hubs.la/Q04g37D80 #GlobalVoicesOSS #CodeFromTheSouth #opensource

Open source stewards, maintainers, manufacturers, and software teams all have important roles to play in strengthening software security. Through our new collaboration, the Eclipse Foundation and OWASP® Foundation will focus on: - CRA readiness across the open source ecosystem - Alignment among security practices and frameworks - Joint education and community engagement - Open source stewardship and maintainer support - Policy and regulatory education The organisations also collaborate through the Open Regulatory Compliance Working Group, where open source foundations, global enterprises, and other industry stakeholders are developing practical responses to software regulation. 👀 Why should you attend the AI Coding Workshop? Plenty of developers have tried AI coding assistants. But the harder question is how to use them effectively in real projects. How do you manage context? Review generated code? Build repeatable workflows? Join us in Berlin on 15 September, as we work hands-on with Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, Theia AI and will focus on the methods and workflows that transfer across tools. Register today 👉https://hubs.la/Q04s70qm0 #OpenSource #AI #Developers #OpenVSX

Sometimes the smallest decision can open the door to opportunities. Back in April 2018, Theresa Seyram Agbenyegah was invited by a friend to attend a workshop that was part of the Django Girls Sogakope series, which focuses on introducing more women to the world of open source and coding. There, Theresa discovered coding and its possibilities, although she couldn’t have known how profoundly that experience would shape the years ahead. Today, she champions contributions centered around education, ones that spread the word while simultaneously strengthening existing connections within the Ghanaian open source community. Theresa’s journey is part of our Global Voices series. Mandatory vulnerability and incident reporting obligations under the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) take effect on 11 September 2026. Efficiently Connected, Inc. looks at how the new partnership between the Eclipse Foundation and OWASP® Foundation aims to equip organisations with practical CRA readiness guidance, joint webinars, and Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs) adoption resources ahead of that deadline. Most developers are experimenting with AI coding tools. Few have developed reliable ways of working with them in real projects. Join the AI Coding Workshop on 15 September in Berlin to learn how to work effectively across AI tools. We'll use Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code and Theia AI during the workshop, but the focus is really on the methods and workflows that transfer across tools. The goal is that people leave with practices they can apply immediately in their own development environment, regardless of whether they're using Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, Theia AI, or whatever comes next. Participants of the workshop, sponsored by Open VSX, will receive a digital completion badge via Credly and access to post-workshop learning materials. 🎟️ Limited spots available.
