Easyfairs just added 61 events across 17 countries to its portfolio, by acquiring Xpo Group. The Belgian organiser has taken full ownership of Xpo Group, acquiring 100% of the company's shares following a public takeover bid. The deal brings together two international event organisers, with Xpo Group's portfolio spanning a wide range of sectors and including brands like ARCHITECT@WORK (pictured) and the Kortrijk Xpo venue in Flanders. Easyfairs first announced its intention to launch a takeover bid in May 2026. Matthew Benyon, group CEO of Easyfairs, says the deal is a significant step in the company's growth, adding an attractive portfolio and creating new opportunities for expansion in Europe and the US. Saskia Soete-De Boosere, CEO of Xpo Group, says joining Easyfairs gives its event brands access to a broader international platform while preserving what's made them successful. It's been a busy day for Easyfairs. In fact, it has been a busy couple of weeks. The organiser has just announced another acquisition - The AI Conference in San Francisco. It's Easyfairs' second US acquisition and fourth US event, joining Coiltech North America and the Energy Projects Conference & Expo, with Digital Accountancy Show USAalso set to launch next year. The acquisition also lands in the same fortnight as a new electronics trade fair launch in Germany and a separate acquisition of Xpo Group. The AI Conference, an applied AI event covering how AI systems are built, deployed, governed and scaled in real-world environments, launched in 2023 and expects around 5,500 attendees at its 2026 edition, with 120 speakers already announced. Matthew Benyon, CEO of Easyfairs, says the deal fits the company's strategy of building a high-growth US position through niche sector launches and acquiring established, top-quality events. Shon Burton, founder and CEO of The AI Conference, says Easyfairs gives the event the reach and resources to meet growing demand for bringing technologists and leaders together.
