Big news again, yes more big news! Yurringa Energy has been awarded our retail electricity license in Victoria. Yurringa Energy continues to achieve success announcing another Australian first, having been awarded our electricty retail licence by the Essential Services Commission, Victoria. This is an extremely rigorous process that tests the financial viability and technical capability of any company wishing to retail energy in Victoria. We’re incredibly proud to share this news, with a genuine message that we’re realising our vision of contributing to Australia’s move, to increase First Nations businesses across the economic landscape and more specifically, in industries which historically have had little or no First Nations representation. Yorta Yorta Wemba Wemba man, Yurringa Energy Founder and Executive Chairman Daniel Briggs acknowledges “the commitment and tireless work of our team, who are the engine room, making it possible for us to power Australian businesses”. Yurringa Energy wishes to acknowledge the professionalism, respectful and yet rightly robust engagement, we’ve had from the Essential Services Commission team in assessing our license application. 🇦🇺 ✨ The countdown to #tunnelling is on! A major milestone has been reached on the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Project, with the first two tunnel boring machines (TBMs) successfully lowered into the launch shaft at Burwood. These engineering giants, which stretch more than 100 metres in length and just over seven metres in diameter, have been purpose-built to excavate the project's northern twin tunnels. The pair will soon begin their journey south towards Glen Waverley, while a further two machines will later tunnel north to Box Hill. Powered using 100% renewable electricity from Yurringa Energy, Australia’s first Indigenous-owned energy retailer, all four TBMs reflect the project's commitment to delivering more sustainable infrastructure. The lowering of the first TBMs marks the transition from site preparation to tunnelling, bringing Melbourne one step closer to a faster, more connected rail network. #Webuild, as part of the Terra Verde Joint Venture, is delivering almost 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between the future Box Hill and Glen Waverley stations, along with 39 cross passages, two station boxes, two TBM launch sites, and an intervention and ventilation shaft for the Suburban Rail Loop East Project. #webuildgroup #infrastructure #Australia #SuburbanRailLoop #Melbourne #TBM Clough

At Sydney Convention Centre today, Yurringa Energy Executive Chairman Daniel Briggs addressed the Clean Energy Council Australian Clean Energy Summit on the benefits of First Nations equity investment in the clean energy transition. Alongside a highly-credentialed panel of Karrina Nolan First Nations Clean Energy Network, Sam Kirby, Troy Pickwick and well chaired by Vonda Malone the panel called for renewable energy developers to seek out genuine opportunities for First Nations equity investment in renewable energy projects. Highlighting that these equity opportunities need to be backed by practical investment vehicles that enable these opportunities to be realised. Whether that’s Federal Government backing no interest or concessional loans or some other structure, there are clear benefits to stimulating First Nations equity investment. Following the lead of other nations who are well advanced with First Nations investment in the energy sector like Canada and New Zealand, it’s proven that this investment can build generational First Nations wealth, while at the same time, helping critical clean energy projects to get built more quickly. #ACES2026

Congratulations to the Industry Capability Network - Victoria and Kinaway-The Victorian Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce on another outstanding Aboriginal Business Showcase at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. The event continues to demonstrate genuine leadership in bringing together Aboriginal businesses, government, project owners and industry to create meaningful commercial opportunities and strengthen Victoria's growing Indigenous economy. These connections are exactly what transform policy into practical outcomes. It was also encouraging to hear The Hon. Colin Brooks MP acknowledge in his opening remarks, the progress Yurringa Energy is making as Australia's first Indigenous-owned energy retailer. That recognition reinforces the importance of innovation and supporting First Nations businesses that are creating new industries, new careers and long-term economic participation. Thank you to Nick Foa and the ICN Victoria team for your commitment to growing Indigenous business capability and for creating opportunities that foster collaboration, partnership and lasting economic change. Yurringa Energy remains a 95% First Nations-owned energy retailer after successful $3 million capital raise to fund growth. Yurringa Energy completed a successful $3 million capital raise to fund the next stage of growth. Founder and Executive Chairman Daniel Briggs said ‘We’re a proud majority First Nations-owned business and always will be, but to grow the company nationally requires investment. Securing Taungurung Land & Waters Council (TLaWC), a Victorian Traditional Owner Corporation, and First Nations-led investment company Federation Enterprises is a fantastic outcome. Yurringa Energy is a commercially successful business and we’ll always seek to empower First Nations people and communities as we drive that commercial success’. Matthew Burns, TLaWC CEO said ‘TLaWC is investing in the here and now, but also for long-term generational economic outcomes. We are considering a range of renewable energy and critical minerals opportunities on Taungurung Country and see a First Nations-owned retail energy company as a vital piece of the energy transition jigsaw.’ Federation Enterprises Chair Rodney Jackson said ‘Federation Enterprises accelerates Traditional Owners’ self-determination through strategic investments that enable economic independence. Our investment in Yurringa Energy is absolutely about deriving commercial returns so we can diversify our revenue streams and grow our impact, but it’s more strategic than that alone. We see the establishment, growth and success of Australia’s first Indigenous-owned energy retailer as continuing to blaze a trail in industries where First Nations businesses are either absent or underrepresented.’ Australian philanthropist, businessman and former Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry President, Peter McMullin AM also supported the successful capital raise and said ‘Yurringa Energy takes an investment approach to ‘closing the gap’ for First Nations Australian’s. I strongly believe this investment approach is something we all need to get behind and support. One thing any government, industry or commercial business needs to do is purchase energy. Why not use that procurement power to drive economic outcomes and employment for First Nations people? It’s a classic win-win.’ Yurringa Energy - driving First Nations leadership in Australia’s energy sector for commercial, industrial and government customers nation-wide. Powering a greener future with First Nations innovation, cost-competitive pricing, reliable and compliant energy supply. Yurringa Energy is a proudly Supply Nation and Kinaway Chamber-of-Commerce certified First Nations business. Federation Enterprises is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Federation of Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations – the statewide Victorian body progressing Traditional Owners’ collective rights and interests through policy, advocacy and consensus-building. The power of water and engineering! Members of the Yurringa Energy board were hosted by Mercury NZ visiting Arapuni Power Station yesterday. Arapuni Power Station is a hydroelectric power station on the Waikato River, in the North Island of New Zealand. It is also the oldest currently generating, the first government-built, and the largest capacity single hydroelectric power station on the Waikato River. Yurringa Energy Executive Chairman Daniel Briggs noted 'Yurringa Energy is speaking with Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations about another form of hydro power, being pumped hydro, with several suitable sites identified across Victoria.' Yes capital intensive, but smaller pumped hydro can play an important role in providing longer duration storage, which will be an important companion as more and more renewables are built. Daniel Briggs was joined by Deputy Chair Kaley Nicholson MIBL, Director Daniel Miller and CEO Arron Wood AM for a series of meetings with Māori Iwi and Māori-owned Trusts delivering big cultural outcomes through commercial success. Yurringa Energy Executive Chairman Daniel Briggs, Deputy Chair Kaley Nicholson MIBL, Director Daniel Miller and CEO Arron Wood AM travelled to Rotorua, Aotearoa, New Zealand not simply to learn, but to test and refine a new economic architecture for First Nations participation in Australia's energy transition. Yesterday, Yurringa Energy had the privilege of visiting our friends at Tauhara North No.2 Trust, an organisation demonstrating what becomes possible when Traditional Owner rights, commercial discipline and cultural authority are aligned with intent. Hosted by CEO Mana (Desterney) Newton and his team, the discussion moved beyond knowledge sharing into something more deliberate: how land, capital, and capability—when held collectively and governed with clarity, can generate enduring, intergenerational wealth. The Tauhara model is not theoretical. It is disciplined, scalable, and proven. It shows that when First Nations entities retain equity in land and energy assets, they shift from being stakeholders to system shapers. This is the opportunity in front of us. Yurringa Energy is building more than Australia’s first Indigenous energy retailer. We are designing a platform that connects Traditional Owner Corporations and First Nations private enterprise directly into the value chain, linking land, generation, retail, and customer engagement into a unified economic system. One that prioritises equity participation over passive benefit, long-term yield over short-term extraction and governance models that are as strong culturally as they are commercially. The next phase of the energy transition must not replicate the past. It must be constructed differently, where First Nations ownership is embedded at the foundation, not appended at the margins. What we saw at Tauhara reinforces a simple but powerful proposition: - when First Nations people, combine ownership of the asset and can help drive a pathway to market, economic sustainability is no longer aspirational, it is inevitable. This is what economic empowerment for First Nations people and communities looks like and that's something all Australian's can be proud of. That is the standard. That is the ambition. Yurringa Energy is looking to partner with renewable energy developers and industry leaders to help build Australia’s clean energy infrastructure as we strive to achieve net zero.
