She genuinely loves every minute of the event - soaking up the buzzing atmosphere, reconnecting with familiar faces, and bringing people together over great food for a cause close to her heart. To mark the milestone, Sandy was honored with a Lifetime Support Award from the Children's Hospital Foundation for her two decades of dedication. For Kristy and Amy - and the team at Woolworths Warwick - NAIDOC Week was a chance to bring their whole community together. They laid out a spread of cupcakes, kangaroo, damper and Australian black tea, and invited customers to pause and learn about local heritage. That same energy was felt at our stores across the country. To celebrate the theme ‘50 Years of Deadly’, we empowered 50 stores to lead the way as our ‘Deadly’ stores. In Aboriginal English, ‘deadly’ means fantastic, and these teams used our NAIDOC Week grants to get out and connect with their communities and bring local culture to life in store. The team from Dalby headed out for a yarn at the Goondir Health Services Clinic, our South City Square store hosted a morning tea at the ATSICHS Medical Clinic, and the Logan crew supplied the sports gear and sausages for a community sizzle while handing out free fruit and water. Nationwide, our teams also came together for the Happy Boxes Project, packing over 2,800 boxes of essential toiletries for women across 90 remote communities. It’s not every day you learn cricket drills from an Aussie star at your mum or dad's work! 🏏 A few weeks ago, over 150 kids joined us at Bella Vista Oval for an exclusive Woolworths Cricket Blast session in partnership with Cricket Australia. Cricket Blast is all about making sport active, inclusive and fun, serving as a stepping stone for young players as they learn new skills and build connections. The afternoon was packed with skill-building games on the field, and our fresh fruit stations kept everyone fueled up during the drills. To top it off, we were lucky to get a visit from Australian cricketer and Woolworths Ambassador Alex Carey, who ran through practice drills on the pitch before heading over to our Norwest Support Office in Bella Vista to meet the wider team. When Jess was just eight years old, her family turned their NSW chicken farm into mushroom sheds - and a lifelong passion was born. 🍄 Fast forward to today, and Jess Toth is leading the team at Costa Mushroom Farm in Casuarina, WA. Every single week, her team hand-picks around 90 tonnes of fresh mushrooms, packing them straight into punnets. Growing mushrooms is equal parts art and science, requiring expert care to adapt to local weather conditions. We’ve proudly partnered with Costa for over 20 years, working together so our stores are stocked with quality loose, sliced, and pre-packed mushrooms year round. Over the past few months, a truly cross-functional collective effort from our teams across Woolworths have been quietly working alongside Google Cloud to give our virtual assistant, Olive, a sophisticated digital upgrade. Olive can now collaborate with busy households to dynamically plan weekly meals, budget with smart swaps and organise ingredients for special family occasions. We’ve also introduced features like Snap & Shop to instantly turn a photo of a handwritten shopping list into a digital shopping cart. Seeing our teams stress-test, refine and champion this technology together has been the most rewarding part of the journey. 💪 Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to bring this architecture to life - it’s all making life a little easier for the 420,000 customers who chat with Olive every month. The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia is bringing their awesome aeromedical simulator to the store. It’s completely decked out with a real cockpit and stretcher beds, giving everyone a firsthand look at how these incredible teams deliver lifesaving care across regional, rural and remote Queensland. Growing delicious fresh food takes time, care and some truly brilliant mates. 💚 We recently caught up with local grower Oscar Bricknell at the Perfection Two Wells Glasshouse in South Australia and are so proud to partner with Perfection Fresh Australia to grow sweet, juicy Solanato tomatoes which have been exclusive to Woolies since 2012. What makes these little tomatoes so special is that they're grown in state-of-the-art glasshouses. This creates the best environment to protect the plants, use water efficiently, and make sure you get that perfect, naturally sweet tomato burst all year round - whether it's the middle of summer or a chilly winter's day.
