Recently we brought together graduates from across the Thiess Group for our 2026 Graduate Development Day, creating an opportunity to connect, collaborate and learn from one another. The day was designed to develop more than technical capability. Through sessions with leaders, insights from former graduates and interactive learning experiences, participants strengthened critical skills in communication, relationship building, health and safety, financial acumen, and commercial awareness. The Thiess Group was honoured to attend the 2026 Garma Festival and experience this year's theme, Bukmak (everyone). Congratulations to Thiess apprentice Slater Talonga-Querro, whose journey into diesel fitting has been featured by CQUniversity. Through our long-standing partnership with CQU, Slater is building the skills, confidence and hands-on experience to forge a rewarding career in mining. At Thiess, apprenticeships are about more than earning a trade qualification. A Legacy of Partnership at Prominent Hill. For more than 20 years, Thiess has been proud to support the Prominent Hill copper mine in South Australia, from early feasibility studies and construction through to the start-up and extension of mining operations. As our role at Prominent Hill comes to an end, we reflect on the partnerships that have shaped the project and the opportunities created along the way. One very special partnership has been with the Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara Aboriginal Corporation (AMYAC) and its wholly owned subsidiary, A.M.Y. Nominees Pty Ltd. Over many years, we have been privileged to work alongside AMYAC to support capability development, local employment and business growth opportunities. Recently, A.M.Y. Nominees Pty Ltd was awarded the largest standalone contract ever granted by BHP to a Traditional Owner business in South Australia. Last year global mining support services giant Thiess was unveiled as Queensland’s highest ranked company in IBISWorld’s Top 500 Australian private companies list. This year it set a world record for the material moved in a 12-month period by a Liebherr R 9600 excavator. Thiess Group executive Australia East Rae O'Brien says the result reflected the capability and collaboration of teams across operations, maintenance, technical services and planning.
