Southern Launch has officially landed in the nation's capital with the opening of our Canberra office! The office was officially opened by Andrew Barr MLA, Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory, and Michael Clausen, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy alongside our CEO Lloyd Damp. We were also privileged to be joined by Federal Member for Grey, Tom Venning MP. Establishing a presence in Canberra marks an important milestone in Southern Launch's growth and reflects our commitment to supporting Australia's sovereign space and national security capabilities. As demand for responsive and secure space services continues to grow, our Canberra office will strengthen engagement with government, defence and industry partners. Thank you to everyone who braved the chilly Canberra morning to celebrate with us. It was fantastic to share this milestone with so many colleagues, partners and supporters.

We're proud to share the successful launch of our Koonibba Rising Rocket with Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG)! This is the third mission to take place at the Koonibba Test Range in 2026 and marks a major milestone in enhancing Australia’s sovereign rocket capabilities. The KRR vehicle flew as designed, successfully validating the DSTG-Thales led Advanced Rocket Motor Technology Demonstrator (ARMTD) Program rocket motor in flight. This mission highlights the strength that comes from industry-government collaboration. We are so proud to contribute our infrastructure and expertise to advance Australian capabilities. Another mission complete. Onto the next! 🚀

Thank you to Maria Vieira, PhD and Adelaide University for inviting us to Whyalla to participate in the 2026 STEM Girls Creative Challenge. Regional Australia is already home to the ever-growing Australian Space Industry, so it is always rewarding for us to see young people in the regions connecting with real-world space challenges. The enthusiasm, ideas and curiosity shown by the girls was incredible! We're looking forward to seeing what creative solutions emerge from our challenge✨ #WomenInSTEM #LoveWhyalla #AdelaideUniversity
What a stellar week we’ve had! Over the past few days, we’ve been on a mini road trip across South Australia to launch another statewide edition of the STEM Girls Creative Challenge. This year, we’ve brought together an incredible ecosystem of 3 space industry partners, 9 schools, +70 students, and 3 campuses to kick off a program that explores the future of space through #creativity and #innovation. Alongside the student challenge, we’re empowering teachers through #DesignThinking, building their #CreativeConfidence to teach #STEM using gender-responsive practices. Together, we’re helping develop the capabilities young females need to thrive in STEM: not only technical skills, but also creativity, communication, collaboration, and entrepreneurial thinking. A huge thank you to our colleagues and industry partners who joined us on this journey: 🚀 The Andy Thomas Space Foundation – Darcey Watson, thank you for your talent and inspiration. 🚀 Southern Launch – Jaimie W., Nathan Drummond, and Eamon Lawson, thank you for travelling all the way to Whyalla and creating a locally relevant challenge for regional students. 🚀 Australian Space Agency – Nate Taylor, Teegan Duke, Shaghaf Abumustafa, Alexandra Wickham, Isabella McCulloch and the entire team of passionate space communicators. Thank you for your enthusiasm, generosity, and commitment to inspiring the next generation. And last but not least, a special thank you to Mady Hall for all the incredible work behind the scenes—and in front of them too. We can’t wait to share the next chapter of this journey! ✨ Adelaide University College of Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences – Adelaide University

Space Week 2026, wow! We're only just catching our breath. - 1 week, - 2 hemispheres, - 3 events, - hundreds of minds blown. Our team were out in force last week bringing the potential of Australian Space to young and old, through conversations and our ever-popular immersive experience. Starting with the Australian Space Agency's Space Day Out, where we met so many space fans and future innovators! Straight into The Andy Thomas Space Foundation Space Forum, connecting with industry peers and international partners. It was a pleasure to meet Senator the Hon Tim Ayres ahead of his announcement of the Albanese Government's New Statement on Space. Across the other side of the globe our sales team joined the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) delegation at Farnborough Airshow, sharing Australian capability with some of the global leaders in Aerospace. 📷- Brad Griffin, Australian Space Agency 📷- The Andy Thomas Space Foundation #ASF19 #SpaceForum2026 #SpaceDayOut #NewStatementOnSpace #AustralianSpaceWeek #SpaceWeek #FarnboroughAirshow

📢Today’s announcement of the NRFC’s $10 million investment in Southern Launch is an important milestone in the development of the Australian space industry. Read on for some of the highlights from the coverage.🗞️ 📰 “This raise is a major milestone for Southern Launch and a strong vote of confidence in Australia’s sovereign space capability. With the backing of world-class investors and the Australian Federal Government through the NRFC, we are scaling infrastructure and capabilities to position Australia as a global leader in launch and re-entry, while unlocking new economic opportunities in low-Earth orbit and beyond.” – Southern Launch CEO Lloyd Damp in Capital Brief 📰 “The NRFC’s investment addresses a global bottleneck in the space industry by securing this sovereign capability for Australia.” – NRFC Chief Investment Officer Dr. Mary Manning in The Australian Financial Review 📰 “Space is no longer for space’s sake, and we can do advanced manufacture in space, anything that is crystal-based, so be it silicon wafers for the next generation of supercomputers, or similar, this is where space is finding its real space. Our biggest customer [is]… Varda Space Industries, they are looking to redo chemotherapy drugs, and this is to make them more effective and have less side effects, so should you unfortunately get cancer, these space drugs could make you better.” – Southern Launch CEO Lloyd Damp in The Advertiser 📰”There is limited capacity around the world, so the fact that capacity is coming online in Australia… is really positive.” – NRFC Chief Investment Officer Dr. Mary Manning in Forbes Australia 📰”What we have approval to do down near Port Lincoln is to launch up to 42 times per year. It doesn’t seem like a lot but in space terms, that’s a lot of equipment and materials going into space. So it really helps to build a brand new economy here in South Australia where you have these advanced technology companies coming to these regional areas, bringing jobs, bringing growth, and bringing excitement to the whole of the state.” – Southern Launch CEO Lloyd Damp on FiveAA Visit our website to read more about the NRFC’s latest investment in Southern Launch: https://lnkd.in/dTx_VUPi
