Queensland's 2026 - 27 Budget confirms a $119 billion+ infrastructure pipeline, with significant investment across water, transport, housing and essential infrastructure. Securing the funding is one thing. Delivering the projects is another. Construction Skills Queensland estimates an average workforce shortfall of 18,200 workers each year over the next eight years, peaking at almost 50,000 this financial year. From the conversations we're having with clients, the challenge isn't simply filling vacancies. It's making sure the right project delivery capability is in place to keep projects moving from planning and design through to construction and handover. The organisations in the strongest position are the ones planning ahead - building capability, strengthening leadership teams and securing key people before projects reach critical delivery stages. Today we’re celebrating six years of Wayne at Resourceful Recruitment!   A football fanatic and genuine citizen of the world, Wayne was born in South Africa but has also called Ireland, the UK, New Zealand and a few other places home along the way.   Which makes the World Cup pretty entertaining. We’re still not entirely sure who he actually supports. Neoen just made one of the biggest commitments to Australian renewables we've seen in years, and it has us thinking about what's coming next for the people building this industry. The Brookfield-owned developer has announced plans to spend AUD $10 billion growing their Australian portfolio from 4 gigawatts to 10 gigawatts by 2030, with a clear focus on projects that combine wind and solar generation with battery storage. When you put that alongside the 7.8 GW awarded in CIS Tender 7 earlier this year, the scale of what's being built in this country right now is really something to take stock of. For hiring managers and project leads in this space, that kind of pipeline is equal parts exciting and challenging. The opportunity is enormous, but so is the pressure to have the right people in place to actually deliver it and finding those people in a market this competitive is no small thing.
