Installing a couple of EV chargers in a strata carpark is straightforward. Delivering equitable charging to every carpark is not. 𝗘𝗩 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗴, and residential strata buildings are increasingly expected to provide equitable charging infrastructure to their tenants. But strata properties are notoriously tricky: → Connection to common-area meters with limited electrical capacity → Complex installations across sprawling carparks → Planning constraints → Cost allocation between owners → Sometimes, a simple lack of agreement among apartment owners → Limited electrical supply The challenge is balancing future charging needs against the cost and disruption and cost of upgrading the building's electrical infrastructure and grid connection. The answer isn't always an upgrade of electrical capacity. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 - smart GPOs, dynamic load management, and detailed assessment of on-site electrical capacity and headroom during the planning phase. If your building is having that conversation, we can help scope what's needed now and what can wait. • EnharComm recently had the pleasure of showing a group of year 10 students around La Trobe Universities Solar PV and BESS facility at the Bundoora Campus - the biggest urban solar system in Australia. Inspiring the next generation of Renewable Energy Professionals; Roger Mansfield and Rana Mitra from EnharComm thoroughly enjoyed taking students through solar and BESS technology and design, as well as the various career paths in solar and renewables. EnharComm's role in this Solar and BESS system included detailed feasibility assessments, tender design and documentation, grid connection management and quality oversite during construction to ensure the system is designed, installed and commissioned as per specifications, Australian standards and best practice. Thanks to Emma Terjung for organising access and your input on the day

Reimagining work experience: Inspiring the next generation of renewable energy professionals. ☀️🌱 We recently had the pleasure of taking Year 10 students from the Gateway LLEN region out to the La Trobe University solar farm for a fully immersive, hands-on work experience day. Through our newly established partnership with EnharComm , this wasn't your typical site tour. Students were given a deep dive into what it actually takes to design and construct commercial-scale solar infrastructure. They then transitioned into a practical, hands-on workshop, experimenting with smaller solar components and getting a close-up look at the intricate electrical engineering that powers these systems. A massive thank you to the team at EnharComm - Trevor Ackland ,Rana Mitra and Roger Mansfield for sharing their incredible expertise and guiding the students through the technical realities of the industry. We also want to extend our sincere thanks to Emma Terjung from La Trobe University for her invaluable support in hosting us and helping make this impactful day possible. By bridging the gap between the classroom and industry, we're showing young people just how exciting and vital a career in clean energy can be. #RenewableEnergy #STEMEducation #WorkExperience #Sustainability #CleanEnergyCareers #CommunityImpact

  • 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗮 - Senior Electrical Engineer and our longest-standing team member. Rana recently 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝟵 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗿. He's an SAA-accredited electrical engineer with 15+ years in the solar and battery industry, and he leads our off-grid power system design practice. Deep knowledge of optimised off-grid systems and battery technology - which he brings to every project. We all look forward to his Friday afternoon experimental jazz playlist over a beer; his newfound enthusiasm for office Lycra has however been less universally embraced. We wouldn't be who we are without people like Rana. CSIP-AUS is getting rolled out in NSW from June 2026. Victoria, SA, WA and Queensland already require it. NSW joins the list - meaning every distributed energy resource under 200kVA will need to be CSIP-AUS compliant to connect. 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀, this changes the install workflow at every job: → Confirming compliant inverters and equipment → Registering the system in the CER installer portal → Registering the device via the manufacturer portal or app → Verifying comms with the DNSP server → Installing a compatible power meter on consumer mains The upside for system owners can be significant. Because the supply authority can dynamically lift generation beyond a previous fixed or zero-export limit, well-designed PV systems can deliver materially more energy over their lifetime. Read the full breakdown in Issue 12 of The Quarterly. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 ↓ #CSIPAUS #DER #DistributedEnergyResources #SolarInstallers #GridConnection #AustralianRenewables

We've completed dozens of post-installation audits this quarter on solar and battery projects. Installation quality is improving across the industry - but we're still finding basic issues being overlooked, some with real safety consequences. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴: → Under-torqued electrical terminals → Inadequate trenching depth for underground cabling → Protection devices not sized to AS/NZS 61439 → Poor design of panels around existing roof safety equipment and live edges → In one case, an un-engineered roof-mounted inverter structure that completely failed Electrical inspections are required - but they are not the same as a full audit of the installed system. For any commercial solar or BESS project, we recommend a third-party installation audit is conducted as part of practical completion requirements and PRIOR to final payment to the contractor. • ~12 MW of solar. Direct DC input to an industrial heat process. 𝗔 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 for the technical team at EnharComm. Large solar arrays connected to the grid are subject to grid connection technical complexities, high costs and often long wait times for approval. This concept goes a different direction: ground-mounted PV supplying steam for a manufacturing plant with direct DC input straight into the heat process. This creates its own technical complexities and design issues, but removes grid compliance, delays and costs. Industrial heat accounts for roughly a quarter of global energy consumption - and decarbonising it is one of the difficult problems in the transition. Currently in the concept design and feasibility phase, with the team leading solar PV and electrical design. Proud to be delivering another sustainable energy project for the community — a 38kW Solar PV system paired with a 240kWh Battery Energy Storage System at the Hurstbridge Football and Cricket Pavilion for Nillumbik Shire Council. This project will help reduce energy costs, improve energy resilience, and support the Council’s commitment to sustainability. Community sporting facilities are at the heart of local connection, and it’s great to see renewable energy infrastructure being integrated into these important spaces for long-term environmental and financial benefits. Looking forward to seeing the positive impact this project will have for the Hurstbridge community.
