The government has started a new tender process to secure a partner to carry out the next phase of the #NorthernEndeavour #decommissioning program – the recovery and bringing to shore of the #subsea infrastructure from the #Laminaria and #Corallina #oil fields. The phase 3A work program – to be completed by November 2030 – is to be carried out in two stages, with stage one to include the planning, engineering and securing of regulatory approvals. Stage two would include the removal of the subsea equipment from the sea floor and the transport and offloading to a nominated port. As Slugcatcher notes, for much of the past decade investors, governments and banks couldn't mention #coal other than to mock it as a #FossilFuel with no future.
