The Clough BMD Joint Venture team at the ship lift in Darwin were proud to attend a recent Smoking Ceremony hosted by our subcontractor, RC Construction, a local Indigenous-owned company. The ship lift is being built as part of the Northern Marine Complex. The ceremony was an important opportunity to come together in respect, acknowledge Traditional Owners, and recognise the cultural significance of Country as works continue on this major marine infrastructure project. We extend our gratitude to local cultural practitioners, Nicole Brown and Trent Lee, for delivering the ceremony, and to RC Construction for their leadership in hosting this meaningful event and sharing the experience with our team. Our Reconciliation Action Plan guides our commitment to building stronger relationships, creating meaningful opportunities, and deepening understanding with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. 🏗️ Building a faster, more connected transport network! Construction is gaining momentum on the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, with significant progress being made at the Burwood site as the team prepares for tunnelling to commence in the coming months. Burwood progress snapshot: ▪️ ~7,500m³ of concrete placed ▪️ ~39,000 tonnes of crushed rock installed ▪️ 1,030 tonnes of reinforcing steel installed ▪️ ~152,000 tonnes of spoil excavated ▪️ Shaft piling complete, including 310 soft piles and 325 hard piles ▪️ Spoil shed cladding complete and lighting energised ▪️ Surface conveyor installation complete Webuild, as part of the Terra Verde Joint Venture, is delivering almost 10 kilometres of parallel tunnels between the future Box Hill and Glen Waverley stations, along with 39 cross passages, two station boxes, two TBM launch sites, and an intervention and ventilation shaft for the Suburban Rail Loop East Project. #Webuild #Infrastructure #Construction #SuburbanRailLoop #Melbourne

Inspiring tomorrow’s women in engineering! We recently joined the Girls+ Engineering Tomorrow (GET) Program’s Speed Network session at Curtin University. The event provided an exciting opportunity for students in the GET Program to connect with industry professionals and explore future pathways in STEM.   Our Graduate Process Engineer, Nada Mekled, shared her personal journey into engineering, offering valuable insights into university life, career development and the opportunities available within the industry. Through her enthusiasm and openness, Nada helped students gain a deeper understanding of engineering careers and inspired them as they consider their own study and career pathways. 🏗️ Shaping Melbourne's future transport network! Momentum continues to build across the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East Project, with major milestones achieved at both the Mount Waverley Emergency Support Facility and Glen Waverley sites. At the Mount Waverley Emergency Support Facility, the team completed the installation of the first 84 ground anchors, commenced the second stage of excavation, and installed two stair units. Mount Waverley progress snapshot: ▪️ 100% of the acoustic shed frame installed, including 170 tonnes of structural steel ▪️ 100% of acoustic cladding installed ▪️ 100% of the acoustic shed roof installed Meanwhile, at Glen Waverley, work continues to accelerate with the mobilisation of the second and third piling rigs.
