What does a warm welcome look like? At our Bourke Street branch in Melbourne, it starts with speaking a customer's language. ANZ bluenotes recently visited the branch, where team members collectively speak nine languages, helping migrants, international students and customers new to Australia navigate everyday banking with greater confidence. Whether it's opening a bank account, understanding how banking works in Australia, or simply having a conversation in a familiar language, these moments can make settling into a new country a little easier. It was great to be back at the Australian Cotton Conference on the Gold Coast last week. For 20 years, ANZ has been proud to support this event and the people behind one of Australia’s most resilient and innovative agricultural industries. This year’s discussions highlighted the importance of navigating an increasingly dynamic geopolitical environment, with global trade and supply chain shifts continuing to influence agribusiness decisions. Our latest ANZ Cotton Insights paper found Australian cotton growers have maintained strong margins and financial positions despite a prolonged period of lower prices. Looking ahead, sustainability remains a key driver of long-term demand and opportunity for the sector. I'm incredibly proud of ANZ's 20-year partnership with @cotton-australia and our commitment to supporting growers, businesses and regional communities for the long term. ANZ is warning customers about a troubling rise in “scam-coaching” – a tactic where criminals train victims to bypass bank security by providing scripts, cover stories and instructions on how to respond to bank staff. Unlike traditional scams, scam-coaching often involves long-term manipulation, with offenders building trust over days or weeks before encouraging victims to lie, ignore warnings or hide the true purpose of a transaction. As ANZ Scams Lead Ben Verhoef, CFE, CAMS warns: "If someone is telling you not to be honest with your bank or instructing you on what to say, that's a major warning sign that you're dealing with a scammer." ANZ urges customers to stay alert, and to pause and cease contact immediately if anyone instructs them on what to say – or not say – to their bank when questioned about a transaction. Customers who feel unsure or pressured are encouraged to contact ANZ immediately. https://lnkd.in/g37sTwHQ
