  • Are your cells not attaching or growing the way you expect? In many cases, the issue isn’t the assay itself - it’s the microplate surface. Standard TC treatments work well for robust cell lines. But as soon as you work with more sensitive or complex models, they often fall short. From our experience, this is where many experiments start to become inconsistent: ❌ Cells don’t attach properly, ❌ they lose their native cell morphology, ❌ or they deviate from their physiological behavior. The reason? These cells need a more in-vivo-like environment - not just a surface. In this short video, our expert Philipp Wachter explains: ✅why coating choice matters more than many expect ✅which types of coatings support different cell behaviors ✅and how to approach coating selection more systematically If you’re currently relying on standard surfaces, this is worth a closer look. 👉 Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/es49nYFs #HTS #Coating #GreinerBioOne

  • Choosing a blood collection device often begins by comparing product features. But successful evaluations begin somewhere else. They begin with the people who use the device every day. A product may perform well in technical testing - but the real question is: 🔹How does it perform in clinical practice? 🔹Does it fit naturally into existing workflows? 🔹Do healthcare professionals feel confident using it? 🔹Can different departments work with it consistently? The strongest evaluations bring together different perspectives - from nursing staff and phlebotomists to laboratory professionals, infection prevention specialists and procurement teams. Because every stakeholder experiences the blood collection process differently. When those perspectives come together, decisions become more than a product comparison. They become an investment in safer workflows, smoother implementation and greater confidence.   ❤️ Confidence starts with choosing the right solution. The best evaluations don't just assess product performance - they help identify the solution that best supports everyday clinical practice.   💬 What factors have the greatest impact when your organization evaluates a new blood collection device? #BloodCollection #Preanalytics #ClinicalEvaluation #PatientSafety #GreinerBioOne

  • 🧪 THIS or THAT? When choosing a cell culture flask, scientists consider the flask size and the surface. Another detail can make a difference in day-to-day work: the cap.   Standard Screw Cap ✅ Supports gas exchange when opened to the vent position ✅ Ideal for transportation ✅ Cost-effective solution for routine cell culture   A nice detail: The vent position is easy to verify visually. Once the cap clicks into place and the triangle points upward, the flask is properly ventilated. Filter Screw Cap ✅ The filter insert provides optimal protection against contamination and efficient gas exchange ✅ Convenient handling ✅ The filter function remains effective, even when briefly wetted.   💡 There's no right or wrong choice. Just different ways of working.   👉 Filter cap or standard cap – what do YOU use most in your lab?   #ThisOrThat #CellCulture #CELLSTAR #LifeScience #GreinerBioOne

  • In high-throughput and high-content screening, assay performance is shaped long before the first image is taken: 👉 It starts with the right cell culture surface. As our expert Philipp Wachter notes: “Without the right surface, you risk losing reproducibility and overall assay performance.” This becomes especially critical when working with advanced cell models such as primary cells or stem cell-derived systems. These models are designed to improve physiological relevance, but only if the culture environment supports their native behavior. In vivo, cells constantly interact with the extracellular matrix, which provides essential signals for adhesion, growth, and function. 💡 Biomimetic coatings help bridge this gap. They support more natural cell behavior in vitro and improve consistency, particularly in sensitive or complex models. In HTS workflows, this directly impacts cell attachment, morphology, and reproducibility - and therefore assay quality. If you want to explore this topic in more depth, we’ve summarized the key principles and applications in a dedicated blog article (see link in comments).

  • Routine doesn't always mean easy. Every blood collection is different. Every patient presents unique challenges, and every healthcare professional carries the responsibility of delivering a safe and positive experience. Creating a calmer blood collection environment isn't about relying on one product feature alone. It comes from the use of intuitive devices, considered evaluation as well as practical training - each playing an important role in supporting confident decision making in everyday clinical practice. Because confidence needs a strong foundation.   ❤️ Confidence happens when products, people and processes work together. Creating calmer blood collection starts long before the needle meets the skin.   💬 What contributes most to confidence during blood collection in your daily practice? #BloodCollection #Preanalytics #PatientSafety #ClinicalPractice #GreinerBioOne

  • In high-content screening, the performance requirements for microplates are quite demanding. Beyond material properties, bottom thickness, and surface coatings, the choice of the right plate is heavily influenced by the specific imaging instrument being used. These are the two most critical factors for achieving good synergy between the plate and the device: 1️⃣ Plate geometry  High-magnification objectives often need close access to the cells. If the well bottom is not recessed, peripheral wells become inaccessible. The result: lost data points, wasted reagents, and longer screening runs. 2️⃣ Bottom planarity Uneven bottoms force constant refocusing. This slows down acquisition and reduces image quality across wells. 🎥 Watch now to see how small changes in your setup can make a big difference. 👉 Set the right parameters and find out which plate gives you the best performance: https://lnkd.in/ehtZ-nap #HCS #Imaging #Microplates #GreinerBioOne

  • How does innovation translate into real improvements in patient care? Laboratoires Maymat - founding members of the LBI (Les Biologistes Indépendants) network - operate 14 sites across four French regions. Committed to continuously improving the patient experience, they introduced VeinViewer® to support their teams in daily practice. • IVDR was meant to strengthen diagnostics - so what puts labs under pressure? In our recent podcast episode with Prof. Dr. Christa Cobbaert, one message stood out clearly: there’s a gap between regulatory intent and day‑to‑day reality in many laboratories. Now we’re curious to hear from you: To what extent has IVDR affected your lab’s ability to maintain or introduce diagnostic tests since 2022? 👉 Take 10 seconds to vote - let’s capture the current sentiment across labs! Here are the poll options: ➡️ A - Significantly: You experienced delays, discontinuations, or resource burdens directly related to IVDR requirements. ➡️ B - Moderately: Some processes were impacted, but you could manage without major disruptions. ➡️ C - Minimally/Not at all: Your test portfolio and workflows were largely unaffected. 💡 What you’ll get if you take part: a quick, real-world snapshot of how labs across Europe are experiencing IVDR 🎧 If you want to go deeper: in the latest podcast episode, Christa Cobbaert shares practical insights on why these challenges emerged - and what may come next https://lnkd.in/e8GkneBS #GreinerBioOneTalks #Preanalytics #IVDR #GreinerBioOne

  • One of the key challenges in vascular access is variability in clinician experience and training. Near‑infrared imaging technologies such as VeinViewer® offer a standardized way to visualize superficial veins in real time, with minimal learning curve. Clinical and simulation data indicate that: ✅ Success rates can be comparable to ultrasound in certain use cases ✅ Time to cannulation is significantly shorter with NIR ✅ Training requirements are lower, enabling faster adoption ✅ The technology supports performance among less experienced users These characteristics make VeinViewer® particularly relevant for broad, hospital-wide deployment, including emergency departments, pediatrics and general wards; where time constraints and staffing variability are critical factors. By improving accessibility to vein visualization, NIR technology helps standardize care and reduce variability in outcomes. #ClinicalPractice #VeinViewer #GreinerBioOne
